The majority of the stores have closed. Hopefully they’ll open some new ones soon. Bass, Big 5, and another clothing store are left.

Lame-O if you seek a true factory store experience this isn’t even close. Maybe they got a great deal on the sign? Perhaps a Bass shoe store and golf outlet qualify but that’s a stretch in my book. Boo.

Big 5, Van Huesen, Izod, a Bank of America ATM, Styles 4 Less, and a bike clothing store were the only stores still around when I went to visit. I’m sure this place must have been cool when all the stores were filled, but now it’s kinda sad looking. Big 5 has some good deals though and it is near the Tahoe bus stops.

It’s more like Factory STORE at the Y. My low rating is simply because the majority of the original stores are no longer there. It needs to be renamed with a more accurate reflection of what it really is now — some random stores that aren’t «factory» stores like in Folsom.

We stop here for the bass shoe store. Good deals here. Also check out the kitchen collection. But not much else other than Izod and the sunglass place. I think big 5 sports is the only thing keeping this place alive.

This place should not even be here. There are a total of 4 stores; Big 5, Van Heusen, Styles 4 Less, and Bass. There is a Sunglasses Hut but when we went to check this ‘outlet’ out on a Saturday afternoon it was closed? Please do not even waste your time coming here. If you do, head across the street to the TJ Max that looks like it’s from 1970, found some good deals there :) Only good place to shop is in Sparks at the outlets. It’s worth the drive. There’s nothing in Tahoe. Not even a Chase bank!!! :(

This place has about six or seven stores and they are all barely managing to make it. Horrible… and very sad!!!

Not a lot of stores, but excellent prices at Bass and Van Heusen. Picked up some beautiful boots for $ 35 and touch screen gloves for $ 8.

«Oh wow. is this IT?» you ask yourself as you pull up. It’s a pretty motley collection of stores, but there are a few good ones — namely Adidas, Bass, Van Heusen, etc. But I was surprised at how good the kitchen store was — I walked in there not intending to buy anything, but somehow spent $ 35 worth of kitchen do-dads I didn’t know I needed. Don’t bother driving much out of your way to do shopping here, but if your timing is right and there’s a good sale on, it’s worth investing some time here.

Yes, our little factory outlet strip mall is pretty sad, and some stores have closed due to the economy, but it’s one of the few places to shop in town that’s not super overpriced. Bass shoe store has some good socks, shoes, and winter scarves, hats & gloves. Once in awhile I can find something for my age range in Just My Style. And Great Outdoor Clothing has some finds at times.

There is nothing worth buying here unless you are desperate for some adidas warm ups or have nothing better to do. This has got to be the smallest factory strip mall in the world!

Hmm… Izod is not Polo, but I bought some new preppy stuff for cheap. Cable-knit sweaters, polo shirts… I don’t see the problem except that Izod is NOTCOOL. This might be the only store I rate regarding the Factory Stores at the Y because it kind of sucks it. It’s not HOT. Oh yeah, there’s an Adidas outlet but it’s not that cheap.

This outlet mall is very limited and unlike any other outlet mall I’ve been to. It only has about 10 stores and mainly geared towards men with stores like Geoffrey Bean, and Izod. I have been to Cabazon and Gilroy outlets and am used to being able to shop ’til i drop and here I felt forced to go into every single store just to make the time pass since I was waiting for my husband to finish snowboarding. There is a Sunglasses Hut, Adidas, and Styles for Less. Also a lingerie store that seems geared towards older women. I really enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory but the person in the store told us they only have 2 more months left of business on this favorite store of mine. The great news though is that every store here is having a HUGE sale. I saw 70% off and buy one get one free on almost the entire store for most stores. Oh except SGH. Normal prices there.

Now that outlet malls can now be found at virtually any non-urban area in California(Mt. Shasta, Santa Rosa, Fairfield, Truckee — the list goes on and on) visitor may be unimpressed with the size and scope of South Lake Tahoe’s contribution to retail therapy. However, for us locals it’s been one of the few areas(prior to the advent of the Heavenly Village and its oh-so-affordable-and-tasteful offerings) where we can find clothing and footwear without leaving the lake or breaking the bank. I like the Factory Shops because I like to shop local when possible, and I don’t like to pay more than $ 30 for a pair of running shoes(thank you Pearl Izumi and Adidas). For those that missed getting their chocolate fix at the other end of town, you can always indulge at the ubiquitous(in mountain towns that is) Rocky Mountain Fudge Factory. Hey, it’ll be negated when you use the new running shoes, right?

Small outlet store on the corner of Hwy. 50 and 89. Shops include: Bass Shoe, Cape Isle Knitters, Capezio, Geoffrey Beene, Great Outdoor Clothing Outlet, Home Again, Oneida, Pfaltzgraff, Sierra Shirt and Van Heusen. Around 16 stores.
