Ordered an almond caramel apple. Found that there was mold in the base, and core of the apple. Went to show the apple, and we were told that they unfortunately cannot do a refund, and offered us another apple instead. Hhmmm. maybe Not! We opted for a frozen banana to compensate for the moldy apple. Tried eating it for the next 5−10minutes, and it felt like I was trying to suck on a rock. After closer inspection, it was obviously freezer-burned. Tried to return it, instead they told us that they«made it two days ago, that they froze it once, took it out, and froze it again.» What? Anyway, they said they wouldnt accept a return, and instead Microwaved the banana before handing it back to us. Huge let down, terrible quality, bad customer service. We certainly wont be going back there thats for sure.

Delicious! Picked out quite a few things, all of which I loved. The peanut butter/chocolate chunk was super peanut buttery and for me, that’s a good thing! I had a white chocolate macadamia turtle that was yummy and the caramel marshmallow… too good! Not to mention, the young lady that was working was a 49er fan so that’s an extra plus for me which included a little extra on her tip ;-)

It’s no secret that I love chocolate. And normally I’m a fan of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. But this location was just«a-ok.» Here’s why: It was just after 1pm on a Saturday afternoon in the off season, yet some of the sweet trays were practically empty. I can’t imagine there was a rush to hit RMCF that day. Unless a group of stoners came in early. But really, stoners getting up early to get chocolate? Yeah, so not going to happen. Pizza first… The girl helping us was super nice and even went to the back to get a couple milk chocolate dipped graham crackers. But, isn’t there always a but when the rating is 3 stars and below? But, the store was kinda dirty. As mentioned the empty trays. I don’t know what time they opened, but this early in the day there should never be empty trays. They should have been restocked the night before or first thing in the morning before the store opened. The counter where the candy and caramel apples sat to cool off. It was filthy. And it was in front of the window. So not appetizing. After seeing that rack of apples on that dirty counter without anything covering it, all thoughts of getting a caramel apple went out the window. The awesome customer service we received was the saving grace from a 2 star review.

LOVE their candy apples! Every flavor I’ve tried is fantastic and is a go-to for our drive home from Tahoe. The reason for the 3 stars is because they don’t have updated hours. I waited over 20 minutes for their store to open(says they open at 10am) and am leaving at 10:10 very sad and without an apple… Will try next time! Would be nice to have updated info in the window for opening times.

Horrible experience. I come here every year to get apples. This year I came on a Saturday and they were closed. It seemed as if they were cleaning or repairing something in the kitchen. The door was open so I asked if they were open and man working in the kitchen said they were closed until tomorrow. I saw a select few apples in the cases and was thinking bummer, I really wanted one. Ok, I’ll come back another day. I went in today, Thursday, and the employee helping a group of elderly people seemed very irritated that they were taking their time to figure out what they wanted to go as far as turning her head and rolling her eyes. When helping me, she yelled at me through the glass. The apples looked old and quite honestly looked like the same ones that were in the case the other night when I came by while people were working in the kitchen. Everything seemed thrown in the cases. Messy and trays were not clean. Also I wanted an apple with chocolate and all the ones made were carmel only. I asked the employee if I could order some with dark chocolate and she said they weren’t making new apples until tomorrow so I could but couldn’t pick them up until tomorrow. My mother asked her if they could be made today given it was our last day here and she said, very rudely, again we aren’t making new ones until tomorrow. There were only two reasons we didn’t buy anything given there was plenty of individual pieces of chocolates. One, messy and dirty. Two, extremely rude customer service. We went to Raley’s and bought some chocolate.

This is the place to get delicious and gorgeous candied applies and chocolate cover nuts. I got the Pecan Caramel cover Apple — really fresh and declined. They cut it for you in perfect slices of goodness. The chocolate cover nuts looked Amazon too. Service can be better though. I felt really rushed with my order by the girl behind the counter. Other than that, this place definitely offers some great chocolate and candied goodies.

We were walking around town over the weekend in South Lake Tahoe soaking in the sights and sounds when a freak thunder storm hit and brought in a heavy downpour of rain. Pretty much running for cover since we had our little one in her stroller, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory was our nearest place that offered dry cover. They have an abundance of candied apples and various chocolate covered goodies. We ended up getting some caramel covered apples, pecan caramel covered apples, and a few pieces of caramel toffee. The place was somewhat packed but the gentleman working the counter was helpful and patient; the rain and thunderstorm provided good conversation pieces for everyone in there while they were deciding on what to buy either way. The apples were huge and provided the right crunch and tartness to balance out the sweetness from the caramel. The caramel toffee was melt in your mouth goodness… I’m smiling just thinking about it. Would definitely recommend this place to kids and adults alike who have a sweet tooth.

The good: This place has a good variety of sugarless chocolates for those who have diabetes. One of them, is a kahlua chocolate, which I actually liked even though it was one of the sugarless ones. As far as their other chocolate goes, they have truffles, brittles, etc. they’re ok. Honestly, the reason I’m giving it three stars, is because that I expected a little more I think. I got a few flavors, and too many of them tasted the same as the previous one. There was too much sugar in the amaretto, I hardly could taste any almond, etc. Perhaps, adding less sugar to the ganache might help? I’m not really sure why they tasted the so similar to each other, but they did. :)

After having dinner in the area we decided to walk over to this chocolate shop to grab some dessert. When we entered the store we were greeted by a very nice young woman who was happy to help us and who was very funny. The store had a huge selection of regular chocolates as well as sugar free options. We ended up buying a few different types of chocolate and we have to say that we were not let down. The chocolate was rich and delicious, and the chocolate covered pretzels had to have been the best we have ever had. My wife also bought a hot chocolate which she thought was delicious. In the end, this is an incredible store with really great staff. We wish we could have bought some more at the time, but if we ever heard back to Lake Tahoe we know that this will be one of our stops.

I have loved Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory ever since I was a teen and worked a few stores down from one. I was excited to finally get to go again and it was just like I remembered from before. The Husband and I came in around 6:00pm on a Saturday night for some dessert after having dinner down the street. We were initially the only ones in the store, but a line quickly formed as we were making our decisions. It was late in the day on a weekend so they were out of a lot of the specialty goodies, but still had a good selection and were still in stock of all the chocolates. They carry a great selection of chocolate/caramel/candy apples as well as bark, chocolate covered cheesecake, truffles, peanut butter cups and other chocolates. They even have treats for dogs! The Husband chose two Chocolate Covered Toffee Squares(Milk and Dark) and I chose a piece of their Peanut Butter Avalanche which is peanut butter, marshmallow, white chocolate and crispies mixed together. Reminiscent of a Rice Crispy Treat but I do also love their Giant Peanut Butter Cups! It came to a little over $ 10 for our three treats so they are a little pricey, but worth it for specialty chocolate. This is definitely not Hershey’s! Good for the occasional special treat.

Great chocolates. You need to arrive in the morning to get the best selection. We came in around 2 and they were out of a lot of stuff. But they still had a good selection. We bring our granddaughter here when she comes to visit. She loves the place. And I love it too when I get to get my own selections. I’m glad I only come here when she is here or I would be here every day and weigh a ton.

The smell of chocolate and the case of multicolored candy apples made my feet steer right into the front door. A typical chocolate candy store with lots of unique, custom goodies waiting to get munched down. I asked about a few of the offerings and got a mixed bad of three chocolates. Total price was over 10 bucks! I mean a chocolate covered strawberry, a chocolate covered marshmallow and a PB choc chunk = 10 bucks. The feeling of getting overcharged made the chocolate taste just average. I felt I should have bought my treats at the gas station. Sorry but I wasn’t impressed. Parking is tough on the streets nearby.

Absolutely wonderful customer service. A young guy helped me out. All I wanted was a chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick… but they were out! But no worries he was apologetic and told me when they have their next delivery! And when to come back(specific time) to get one! He didnt have to elaborate but he did, and I appreciate it. Go check them out, and get one for yourself DELICIOUS.

Pretty pricy some little chocolate treats, but worth it. Try the crispy bear, it’s like a Carmel, chocolate dipped rice crispy treat, you won’t be disappointed. Went well with the cup of coffee that I was strolling around with.

The displays were beautiful! You walk into the store and are bombarded with giant candy covered apples. They are great to look at, but I can’t see trying to eat one unless we cut it up and serve in pieces. This store was a lot of eye candy, but the actual candy was just average. Malt balls: good, but nothing special Truffles: What a disappointment. We purchased 4. I LOVE chocolate. I only ate 2. It’s difficult to explain why they weren’t good. The hard shell was a nice creamy chocolate, but the soft center was just a heavy glob.(The truffles at Schatz’s Bakery are MUCH better) Chocolate covered strawberry: This was the redeeming item of the store. Huge ripe, super sweet strawberries dipped in a good milk chocolate. I would only return for their strawberries and maybe a candy apple as a hostess gift.

The frozen banana here is always my favorite and I am totally addicted. I always get it dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with chopped almonds, it’s almost like a meal in itself. A great place to stop in for a relatively healthy snack while you are taking a leisurely stroll around Heavenly Village.

A trip to Heavenly Village is never complete without a visit to this place! Love their caramel apples, the walnut apple being one of my regulars. The king of their apples however, would have to be the Avalanche apple. You will go to heaven and back with one of these! These apples are a rare treat for me especially because they are not cheap! Each apple is anywhere from $ 6 to $ 7.50. They also sell small assorted chocolates which I have never tried, but like that they offer several sugar-free options for diabetics. In the corner next to the door you can find glazed dog treats for your pup! There is only one small table inside which can be uncomfortable considering this place tends to get crowded(the store is TINY). Also, I’ve never paid much attention to the service since there’s always different people working considering it is a chain. They do however, always offer to slice my apple, which you will regret if you don’t do!

Came here as a treat to ourselves after dinner. It was snowing out and we were feeling a bit chocolaty and decided to hoof it into the store. We were greeted by a welcoming, friendly sales girl. Picked out a milk chocolate truffle, mint truffle, and cheesecake apple to share.(Another diabetic attack). Chocolate is ok quality(I’m partial to See’s Candies) and apples are gooey with rich caramel. Price, a little steep. Not the best chocolate but certainly not the worst either.

Over $ 5 for two pieces of chocolate?! My boyfriend and I were craving something sweet after dinner. Our love for chocolate lurred us here. The sweets are priced by weight and are too expensive in my opinion; my tastebuds agree. The caramel was a bit hard, but the chocolate was good, although not worth that hefty tourist price tag.
