Went here for late spring riding and got a fantastic deal on a snowboard package as well as ski package for my wife. The equipment was in great shape and the employees were more than helpful. Prices could not be better and we were in and out in 15 minutes or so.

Amazing experience. Me and my buddies got boards and skis and got a killer deal! The guy just gave us the $ 5 off deal too be cool! This place has customer service down! We were laughing so hard by the time we left we forgot why we were there. STRONGLY recommend The Ski Renter

Best place for daily or seasonal rentals! Rented skis for the season; went in half way through season to upgrade– no problem! Awesome customer service, great quality and more than fair price. Only place to go for ski/​board rentals!

Had a great time with Phil. Great price for me and my boyfriend to try snowboarding for the day. And great conversation while he got us all set up! Highly recommend.

Once again, we touched down in Tahoe, just a bit more than a year since our last trip. The first place on our agenda was to visit Phil’s shop to rent our equipment for the week. Our last visit (Dec 2014) was absolutely amazing and Phil helped contribute to that, so we were looking to repeat it all. Repeat it we did. There is a good reason we have been bragging about Phil’s shop to our friends over the last year. You are well taken care of by Phil and his staff, the gear is great and you always walk away satisfied with your choice. Phil has been around for a very long time in Tahoe and with that has many stories and advice to share. He knows the best mountains, the best runs and the best tips. You gain more than just a rental source. You gain a memory, a story to tell others and a good friend that you look forward to visiting again.

Just rented skis from Phil at the Ski Renter for the second year in a row. It is always an absolute pleasure doing business with Phil, the equipment is high quality, and I would recommend this place to anyone who’s vacationing in Tahoe.

this place is seriously AWESOME. Phil was super helpful and hilarious at the same time. He took his time with me and my boyfriend and didn’t rush us like some other rental shops in town. He took his time to ask what our needs for boarding were and style and skill level. We went in the morning around 8 and there was about 5 or 6 other customers in the shop that he was helping at the time, but he didn’t ignore us. He greeted us promptly and asked that we have a seat and take off our shoes to get fitted for boots and said he would be right over to get our boots. He took his time making sure we were attended to as well as his other customers. Great customer service. 5 outta 5 FOR SURE.
He did NOT come off as a racist like a previous reviewer said. Me and my boyfriend are a biracial couple and he was very friendly and awesome to us both. He spent a lot of time talking to us about the resort we were going to that day (Kirkwood). Gave us great directions and tips.
He offers military discount too which is AWESOME!
Support your local mom & pop businesses and rent from here! Prices are super affordable. Customer service is ON POINT! We left happy and satisfied. I will never rent from another shop in Tahoe ever again after meeting Phil and renting from his shop!
I rented from PowderHouse the day before and that was awful. They got a 1 star Unilocal review from me and if I could, I would give Ski Renter 10 stars on Unilocal.:)

Best place to rent gear in town! They have great prices and awesome customer service. Ask Phil for recommendations, he knows what he is talking about. They really value their customers.

Me and my boyfriend went skiing today and my boyfriend needed to rent skis. We looked all over and found this place. I called on the phone and the owner Phil, told me he would give me skis, boots, poles and a helmet for 35 $. So we came in and Phil was awesome. He was welcoming, nice, friendly, and funny. He made us feel comfortable, and waxed my skis for free. So I believe for a day of advanced skis, poles, boots, bindings, and helmet+insurance in case anything happened to the skis, the total came out to $ 40. I was happy with this place and will for sure come back here next time.

Fantastic business. The equipment was an excellent value and we used the $ 5 off a day which made it an even better deal. I go skiing all over the country and no shop compares to the service and quality that this shop delivers. The employees and owner Phil have great advice on where the local spots are. Everyone there was very efficient and sincere. After leaving you truly feel like family. Will definitely return.

Came in from Orange County to visit family and needed to rent a board. I have a K2 board at home and love it, so when I got to The Ski Renter I wanted to get a similar board. Phil had an amazing selection and his service was quick and easy. Definitely coming back next year to rent a board.

Everyone there was kind, accommodating, and efficient at getting the ski gears ready for the big day. Enjoyed Phil’s sense of humor, too. I went there because it had an incredible deal. I got more than a good deal. I am definitely coming back here next year.

I recently went to Ski Renter to rent skis (imagine that) and the guys were so helpful and welcoming. They gave me good advice on terrain and got me in and out of the shop in no time. I recommend this local shop to everyone!!!

I just had my Thanksgiving (2015) at South Lake Tahoe. Me and 4 other friends went skiing at Heavenly. One of my friends found this shop online, and we all had the best ski rental experience from The Ski Renter. When we walked into the shop on Thanksgiving day, Phil gave us a nice warm greeting. Phil is a kind and talkative person brimming with a bright smile. Phil and the other staff helped us get our ski boots fitted, and picked the skis for us. As he is doing that, he keeps smiling and cracking jokes. Although there were only Phil and his assistant in the shop, all 5 of us got our equipment ready to roll in just 40 minutes. The reason we come here is that this place is super close to Heavenly, and it’s 50% cheaper than Heavenly too. What is more, it’s quicker too, my other group of friends took over 1.5 hours renting at Heavenly. If you do not like paying for overpriced rentals at ski resorts, come to The Ski Renter! Phil will ensure you have a good start of the day.

Have brought my family and friends to the Ski Renter for years. Owner Phil and staff are very service oriented and fun. Great equipment at a fair price.
