I’m not sure about the accommodations here, but I’ve lived in South Lake Tahoe for 10 years and have never gotten stuck in the snow. Today, on my lunch break, I accidentally got stuck in the street right in front of the sky lake lodge and when I went in and asked if they had a shovel I could borrow, the old man at the front desk said no. He said it was a liability to let me use his shovel. It made me feel horrible. I think maybe he thought I was a tourist, and some old time locals like to stick it to the tourists, which makes me wonder how they treat their customers. I was so upset and disappointed. I ended up being stuck for 45 minutes until a guy working at Lilly’s tires helped me. I will not recommend this place when people ask about places to stay here in south Lake Tahoe.

FANTASTIC!!! We drove up Friday evening for our wedding on Saturday. We had 3 rooms booked and were greeted by a very friendly owner, Robert. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and took care of calling a shuttle for our wedding party to go into town to eat dinner. My wife, myself and our 4 guest will recommend Sky Lake Lodge to anyone who asks. Keep up the great job Robert. We will be back.

Facts: 1. Under NEWOWNERSHIP as of July 13th2011. 2. New name is GINGERMOUNTAINLODGE. 3. Has a «rustic» look and feel. 4. The entire hotel is under reconstruction. Details: When Phil and I first got there, we were indeed skeptical. It was a saturday, everything was booked as there was a golf tournament taking place. Every hotel ran about $ 120 plus and the one we’d stayed in prior had gone up from $ 70 to $ 120. There was NOWAY we were paying that. We drove around« Unilocaling» every hotel in sight. Phil pulled over and we parked at the Sky Lake. Soon enough, this woman(Natalia) approaches and offers assistance. When we expressed our dilemma, she was quick to offer us a room at the same price we’d paid the evening prior! She was very kind, to say the least. As we checked in, she was speaking so proudly of the upcoming changes that were soon to take effect. Once we got to our room and settled in, we loved the look! It was literally like a cabin! We loved it! Keep in mind, MUCH of it is STILL under construction. We were COMPLETELY wrong to judge this book by it’s cover! Give it a shot! We’ll be returning in September to visit! Highlights: 1. NATALIA and ROBERT, they own the place. They are working diligently to give this place the much needed time and attention it deserves. They BOTH make you feel right at home and looked after! Stop by, give em a shot, ask for Natalia and tell her Monika sent ya!

O my Frickin’ God. I can’t believe these people think they are immune to decent business practices. Last week we went up to Tahoe on a busy Saturday. I dropped in earlier in the evening, as they had a vacancy sign up. They offered us their last room. I said I would call back and confirm, as it was a little more than I wanted to pay. After 10 minutes, I did as the remaining hotels with vacancy signs were even more. It was still available, and I «booked» it with a credit card. I asked if it was definitely reserved, as we needed a place, and were going for dinner first. The woman at the desk assured us that it would be there for us, and that she put up the NOVACANCY sign as that was the last room. We ate dinner, and came back, and she said the owner, Armando decided to sell it to someone else. Obviously they got more $ for it. At that point everything was taken. Fortunately my buddy was staying up there and we camped out on the floor of his hotel room. Thanks Sky Lake!
