It’s my kiddos first time to see snow for first time, so I went with the advice and pick this snow park. It really is a parking lot that provides access to the snow country for persons to snowmobile, snow shoeing, or x-country skiing. As a paranoid parent, I had come here prepared with rented helmets and our boards. There’s not much. The ones that are decent are immediately adjacent to the parking lot so you slide down the embankment into concrete(or into vehicles for those selfish drivers who park blocking the run). Sometimes it is clear but then the ending edge is high(think snowplow making it 1.5−2 ft higher than the concrete). Those runs are NOT fun to go over the edge and land on your soft butt. After an hour, we got bored and got back in the vehicle to head back to South Lake Tahoe. Immediately about less than ½ mile back(near Camp Richardson). I can see people have parked on the side and taken advantage of some taller hills. We stopped there and had fun. My 5 y.o. – having more experience and being more daring – had more fun here, although my 3.y.o liked the Taylor Creek one better. Next year, my older one will probably go do a snowboard course. For the youngster, I’ll probably skip this and just go look for a random hill. I bought the parking pass online(paid extra $ 1.50) but you can also buy it from Sunrise Ski Rental.

Went here last thanksgiving weekend and there was plenty of snow. There were two sledding hills that ended to parking lot, make sure to park your car away from them. The pond in the roundabout was frozen and it made a tiny sledding hill, perfect for young toddlers. Don’t forget to get the $ 5 sno-park permit at the designated vendors

Nice spot to take little kids sledding. Looked like a beautiful, relatively flat trail for snow shoes /cross country skis but we didn’t explore it today. Park in either of the first two lots for cross country skiing /snow shoeing. There is a porta-potty in the second lot. The sled hill basically just goes down into the third(last) parking lot. Apparently there is also sometimes a tiny run in the center of the lot, but today it was a pond :) We were the first ones there after a decent snow storm and it took us a while to figure out where to sled! Once you accept that the runs all end in the parking lot(or at least the snow piled up at the edge of the lot by the snow plow) you can find several nice runs with a range of steepness. Don’t forget to get your $ 5 parking pass in town.

Nice place to do some sledding, snowshoeing, or even a hike(in summer). Parking is adequate, and signage is plentiful. Enjoy a jaunt along the creek up to Fallen Leaf Lake, or stop and have a picnic off the trail for some serenity. This place is very peaceful at times and you forget that you’re only a 15minute drive from the glitz of the casinos. The views are spectacular, from the spawning fish to Mt. Tallac in the distance. Much like Lake Tahoe, this place is awe inspiring. Pack in, pack out. Leave no trace.
