Disappointed… I am a recent local as of January ’15, and have been looking for spots to get away from the higher price and sometimes chaos of the busy touristy weekends. TDS has a great location(away from the lake — per my needs above) upper deck and cool setup inside. They have surprisingly ‘elegant’ food that far exceeds expectations for a bar/restaurant in this category. So what’s the angst? Locals ‘games’; clickie/preferential mentality and treatment. I am a local, but have found if I don’t shave and wear my hoodie — for example, I get better results/treatment as there is an unspoken ‘different’ treatment for those deemed from out of town. Myself being from the SF Bay Area — where we embrace global travelers and all sorts/races/preferences/etc., have not really experienced this stupidity before and quite frankly am put off by this. You have a business to run — foremost. Employees playing these types of games should not occur and impact the business/bottom line. Dressing down and not grooming should not be a requirement for good service. ADDITIONAL The original exception of having a low/in fact NO maintenance dog on the patio off hours — now is a no go. Arrived at 2:30 on a Tuesday — I was the ONLY person in the entire place. So screw this place. Inside is a health code rule; outside is management discretion.

I have eaten here twice and the second time was not a great experience. I sat at the bar the second time and the bartender was openly hostile, perhaps, because I was not having a beer. Every question was answered with one word where possible. He even went so far as to say that soup was $ 2 without explaining that it would not be $ 2 because of what I was ordering. While the food was good, sometimes bad service can ruin your meal. The first time I ate there was Superbowl Sunday. I had the pastrami sandwich and it was delicious. Service was a bit slow but, for heaven’s sakes, it was Super Bowl Sunday and they were having a separate party in the restaurant. Can’t really complain about that. I will probably try eating here again so long as the guy is working there. The food is good.

Usually a great place, but seriously, Brian, it’s time to get rid of sour pus. With his god awful attitude, I don’t even want him making my food. Teach him a lesson and send him home… for good.

This place was a life saver! We hit 50 right when there was avalanche control and we were stuck for 2−3hrs. We got pastrami sandwich, whiskey and a special limited release beer. The bartender who had brown hair was lovely, understanding and let us use the plug for our devices :) we were really grateful, felt very comfortable and loved the relaxed, fun vibe of the bar. It was great! Thanks so much!

Found this hidden gem while we had our weekend getaway in Tahoe. We arrived way too early for dinner but also didn’t have lunch yet. It was 3pm and a lot of places were already closed. Fortunately for us… this place was open! I ordered the Pollard(Grilled eggplant, basil pesto, roasted garlic, grilled onions, parmesan, and fresh mozzarella.) Light and delicious! And others in my group ordered the Waterhouse, the Paul Reuben, and the soups. Everyone loved what they ordered and we were also very pleased with the service. The waiter did tell us that if it got very busy… the water was by the bar and we could help ourselves to it. Funny coz when we got there the place was empty… when we left it was packed and people were standing around waiting to get a table. Can’t wait to come back here!

What a great find. After a long day of climbing(Eagle Lake Buttress) my buddy recommended we stop here for a bite before suffering the drive home. I readily agreed. We both started with one of their quality draught beers and enjoyed the lively buzz of local ski-bros and babes chatting and enjoying a mid-week pint to a reggae soundtrack. The place was packed for a Wednesday at 8pm but the two staff people were amazingly efficient and handled the crowd with seeming ease. The menu is smallish and definitely wholesome for a bar menu. There are plentiful veggie and fish options but also some tasty looking meaty ones. My friend chose the nachos and I got one of the smoked salmon sandwiches. They came out pretty quickly and both were great. The sandwich came on toasted bread with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto. The nachos were huge and came with a tasty medium salsa. I subbed a cup of soup with my sando and the homemade black bean soup was warming and delicious. I will return, for sure.

I like the service whenever Ryan, Dan or Grant are working! Everything I’ve ever ordered has been very delectable. I love the sandwiches, salads and the organic mint ice cream pic is aaaamaze balls! This is a nice place where the locals go! Three thumbs up!

Awesome spot! Great drinks, beers selection, and vibe. This is a total locals spot. The food was really good and you would never think it by the looks of the place. A little divey but IMO a perfect place to get away from the masses and steep prices elsewhere. Support this place.

Everything about this place is great. The crowd is friendly, the servers are friendly, the beer and food are very solid. Dan the bartender took great care of me. I had one of their spinach salads and a little garlic bread. Both were great. The beers they have on tap are always well thought out. Whether you are a local or a visitor to the area(like myself), this a great place to stop!

I have been coming here for 7 years after just stopping by on a whim during a Tahoe trip. The food, spirits and atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for something local. The menu is vegetarian friendly and everything is made fresh, right in front of you. It is one of the many hidden jewels in this area. In our travels, we constantly are on the search for local spots with good food and quaint atmosphere. Anytime we are even remotely close, we have to stop in.

Awesome local scene with Great food and incredible service. At first I wasn’t do sure because it’s kinda dark, strange décor and fairly loud but once I hunkered in and was so welcomed by the staff and nearby guests it was cool. Excellent beers on tap and from what I understand they have some love music which I will definitely be back for!

Probably the best local bar. Friendly people who work here. Good food, and great beers on tap! Came here last weekend to celebrate with a friend. Had a round of drinks, some garlic bread, and dinner salads. The garlic bread was good. Could have used more garlic, but I’m crazy like that.(Love me some garlic!!!) The salad was huge and tasty for the price. And the beer… well, it was pretty darn awesome too. Definitely a great place. Recommended for sure. I’ll be back!

Came here on our way home from South Lake Tahoe to visit local friends, and this was their favorite spot, as seemed to be with a lot of locals. The restaurant is located on the second level, above a breakfast & brunch spot, and is as cute as it gets. It’s a small and cozy spot owned and run by one man(at the time of our visit; I heard help arrives for the busier hours), who seemed to be doing everything, from the serving to the bartending to even the cooking… I seriously don’t know how he does it. The kitchen area is tucked away in a corner at the end of the bar, and he makes all the sandwiches to order. We ordered/tried: Shiitake Hot & Soup Soup: This was one of their two soups of the day. It’s not your usual hot & sour soup, but I liked it that way. It was well-seasoned and hit the spot after an entire weekend of drinking. I only ordered a cup, but wish I had ordered the bowl after finishing. Waterhouse Sandwich: Smoked salmon, basil pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella, served warm. I wasn’t super hungry, and the Waterhouse was the perfectly sized sandwich. Absolutely delicious with bursts of smokey(but not overwhelming) flavor — I highly recommend this. Hot Crab Dip: I only had a few bites as it’s really rich, but I like that you can taste big chunks of fresh blue crab. As mentioned, the place was run by the one-man show, and service was still on point.

Their greyhound was the WORST cocktail I’ve ever had in my life! I had eaten here once before and had a fine experience for a local sort of joint. The salads are very good and the nachos are composed of constituents that are recognizable as food, rather than weird gluey yellow crap. So that’s fine. Where it broke down was: 1. The cocktail. I wanted a rocking’ cocktail and the barkeep recommended the fresh squeezed greyhound. I love grapefruit and my cocktail of choice this year featured fresh squeezed grapefruit prominently, so I was pumped about it. When the cocktail arrived, the smell of rubbing alcohol wafted up from the drink. As I took a sip there was no appreciable grapefruit flavor. Wah! I ordered a side of grapefruit. It was tiny and I dumped it in — not much better. Very disappointing. I asked AC why the cocktail smelled like rubbing alcohol. She said because of cheap vodka. Oh. AC looked at me and said, let’s make cocktails at home. Yes. Our Rangpur gin and tonics rocked the house. 2. The menu is adult friendly and healthy but not kid-friendly. I had to order another entrée for my son because the french bread pizza was that bad. Although healthy, the kids would not touch the nachos because of the chipotle crème — until I picked out the crema-free chips. I know the menu is limited by their minimal appliances. Maybe offer tater tots? It’s nice to have a decent place in Meyers that is not pizza, so as to avoid the drive into the belly of the beast, and I’ll probably go again, but not with the kids and I’ll have a beer.
