The food was fine but there should be a basic dress code that the restaurant should try to achieve. Men should have to where shirts with sleeves. NOTANKTOPS. It’s disgusting to sit and try eating while i’m seeing an overweight man with tank tops cut out and exposing almost their entire side. I don’t like to see arm pits and rolls of fat.

We have lived in New Hudson for 40 years and have been going to Fortuna since they opened, but NOMORE!!! We used to order once a week, but as quality went down we ordered less hoping they would work out whatever problems they were having. After at least 10 major screw ups over the past couple years we GIVEUP!!! We refuse to pay for HAIR or June bugs in our food. At least I hope it was a June bug. Are there roaches in South Lyon? I’ve never seen one and I don’t want to. Let me go on… Getting the wrong order, less than what I ordered, never more! Ordering extra gravy, paying for it and getting less than a half filled container, But tons of white rice. Who puts potatoes in curry chicken? That started about 15 years ago at Fortuna and its horrible! When I order curry chicken minus potatoes again… I get a half filled container. Anything you order anymore just tastes Bland at BEST to something I would throw out because it’s not fresh. All limp onions and what meat their is in the dish is rubbery. I cook a lot and I don’t know how they can actually make their food THATBAD??? It seems like you would have to TRY to make it that bad? Seriously. I’m all for spending 50 bucks or so once a week so I can have a night off from cooking, but I’m not giving Fortuna Inn my money ever again to eat that gross slop. And they used to be wonderful, so it’s highly irritating. The final straw was when we hAd family visiting from out of town and the food was so bad they wouldn’t eat it. And they’re NOT picky people. Fortuna Inn is an embarrassment to South Lyon. If it had been this bad years ago it would have gone out of business. I think they are trying to take advantage of the new people moving into the area. China House is a little better, but nothing like the Fortuna Inn of years ago. As it stands now we have switched to Thai food. There are no good Chinese restaurants in this area.

Its been a year since we’ve last been here and now I remember why… Decided that on a snowy night, it’d be a good idea to warm up with some general tsos and curry chicken! Upon arrival, I dove into the curry chicken and much to my chagrin there must’ve been some type of translation issue. Apparently, in south lyon chinese, chicken means onion. Sometimes one may exagerrate… not on this. The meal was literally entirely onion. I attached photos to show what I was served. In order of abundance: onion, green onion, liquid, french fries(yeah, I don’t know what the hell they are thinking either,) chicken. FOOLMEONCE, SHAMEONYOU. FOOLMETWICE… WONTBEFOOLEDAGAIN ;-) Avoid this place like the plague. When I brought it to their attention they offered to make it again for 5 dollars off… yeah, because I want to drop another penny in this toilet. They decided it’d be okay to remake it for free.

I have been going to Fortuna Inn since the early 2000’s, and over that course of time I have tried most of the dishes they serve. The service is always friendly, their portion sizes are decent, and they get the food out fast. The main problem I have there is consistency. Occasionally(10% of the time) the food is prepared fresh, and tastes great. Most of the time however, the food is flavorless and/or obviously reheated. I remember one time I ordered the sesame chicken, and it was all stuck together like they had pulled it out of the freezer and reheated it. The texture was off, and I could tell it was old because the color of the sauce had penetrated through the chicken. Needless to say, I never ordered that again! I stopped ordering their Almond chicken years ago because the breading is usually soaked in grease, which leaves me to believe they don’t get their grease hot enough before dropping the chicken in. The gravy that comes with it is flavorless. If I can recommend anything from there, it would have to be the Thai Chicken. It must not be a top-seller there because it is usually freshly made when I order it. Also the pan fried dumplings are pretty good. Another thing I don’t like is anything you order comes with very little meat. Pepper Steak for example is like 85% onions and peppers, with very little beef. I recently tried their Curry chicken which wasn’t bad actually as far as taste goes. The problem was it was 90% onions. You may be wondering why I still go there after all these years. The restaurant is walking distance from home, and I like to support local business. **Update 4/3/16** The food gets worse every time I go there. I will never eat here again!

We love Fortuna Inn, only have one question! Where are the almonds in the almond boneless chicken?

Head on into Fortuna’s fellow Unilocalers if you’d like a solid American Chinese dining experience. Located in a strip mall just south of town(next to Ace Hardware) this dated facility produces solid, tasty, hot and pretty good fare. I had the Mongolian chicken lunch which includes soup, tea, egg roll and your choice of rice with the well seasoned protein(all entrees allow individual spice levels: low, medium and high). The attentive service and the cleanliness of the dining area and the bathrooms speak for themselves. Is it great food? No. Is is good and satisfying? Yep. The prices seem average for the area. Since we «eat with our eyes» Fortuna’s could invest in minor upgrades to the darkness of the dining room which would, for this diner at least, allow me to enjoy more with my eyes. I’ll return when I’m in the South Lyon area.

This is got to be some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Hand rolled eggrolls that’s all I have to say. Good job Fortuna Inn.

We ordered take out from Fortuna Inn on Memorial Day. Kudos to them for being open on a holiday, but that’s about the only thing good that I can say about them. Easily the worst Chinese food I’ve had at least in the past 10 years. If I had the choice between their food and airline food, I might actually choose airline food. That’s how bad it was. We ordered the following items: –Hot & Sour Soup: This would’ve been good except they used too much thickening agent– either flour or corn starch… to the point where the flavor of the thickening agent overwhelmed the flavor of the soup. –Happy Family: The flavor was ok. Typical Happy Family has beef, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and sometimes even squid. Fortuna Inn’s Happy Family was just beef, chicken, and tiny, tiny bay scallops. Where’s the shrimp?!? –Pork Lo Mein: Has a nice kick of ginger to it and flavor-wise was pretty good. But the noodles were skinny rice noodles. Since when were lo mein noodles skinny? I wonder if they mixed up our order for Singapore noodles? –Sweet & Sour Pork: Significantly overfried… the breading was so hard I couldn’t even pierce it with a metal fork. Also, each chunk was mostly breading with very, very little actual meat inside. I felt pretty ripped off on this dish. –General Tso’s Chicken: Flavor was pretty good, but the breading had gone completely soggy. This is acceptable for a Chinese buffet, but it really should’ve been more fresh and at least a little crunchy considered it ordered it take out and should’ve been made fresh. –Vegetable Fried Rice: This was ok, can’t complain about this one. And despite being pretty bad, they’re not cheap! Not a good combination.

Best egg rolls in South Lyon. The Chicken Curry soup is delicious. The Sweet and Sour Chicken is best ordered with the sauce on the side otherwise it drowns in a very sweet sauce. If you plan to order a lot of the soup you may want to call ahead. I went and ordered 3 quarts one afternoon and then said. maybe I will get 4 quarts and the lady there said«Maybe you leave some for somebody else» hahahahaha OMG. I guess she told me!!!

One of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices may look a bit steep at first glance of the menu, but when you consider how much food you get, it is well worth the cost. My only real complaint is that the food is almost always too hot when it first comes out. Otherwise a fairly solid choice in South Lyon!

This Chinese is among the best in the area. Food is hot and fresh, and provides a decent dine in experience. The prices are a bit on the high side which holds back an otherwise five star experience. Its rare to have great Italian(Alekos) and Chinese in the same strip mall, but this has happened in South Lyon. A four out of five.

Tasty chinese food, nothing too amazing, but it’s the only place in town for a sit down chinese meal. My boyfriend can’t eat gluten and they’re very good about helping him figure out what is safe. They’ll switch out soy sauce for tamari to make things gluten free for him, too.

Fortuna used to be hands down the best Chinese food within a 30 mile radius. This was 10 to 15 years ago. The original owners sold the location about 8 years ago and opened a new location in Brighton. Once they sold it, the quality of the food plummeted while the prices raised. The chefs in the back are Hispanic now. which is kind of an oxymoron to me. Mexicans cooking Chinese food? Hmm. It would be fine if they had a head chef that directed how good Chinese food should be made. There is no good Chinese food in SL anymore. Do yourself a favor and go out of town for dinner.

Decent food. Not sure what meat they are using in their Chicken Fried Rice because it’s definitely not chicken. It’s fake and processed which was disappointing. Chow Mein is good though. I also like that I can order everything minus MSG and customize.

If you live in South Lyon, this is the place to go for Chinese food. The Almond Boneless chicken is crispy, the crab rangoon is fried golden brown, and the pepper steak contains both peppers AND steak… it’s cheap, it’s Americanized, and it fills the void in your Chinese food-craving empty belly. Not a place to travel many miles to attend, not a place to avoid like the bubonic plague. Just an all-around acceptable place to get a few tasty goodies.

Middle of the road chinese food. It’s not going to rock your socks off, but it isn’t inedible either. It has tasted the same for 25 years. Nothing new or exotic. The crab cheese, egg roll and egg drop soup are good, as is the sweet and sour. I don’t like anything they have here that uses a brown gravy or sauce. Totally safe, middle of the road food.
