An incredibly friendly hardware store with a mom and pop feel. Not nearly as big as some of the chain stores out there, I’m always surprised to see the breadth of the inventory they carry: colored mulch, snow shovels, electrical and plumbing supplies, animal feed, paint, tools, etc.
True Value also rents out party equipment, like popcorn and cotton candy machines. …And then they rent out carpet cleaners, too, so you can clean up the mess after your big popcorn/​cotton candy party.
I’ve taken my kitchen knives and mower blade here for sharpening as well. Really reasonable pricing, and they do a nice job.
I used to find excuses to go into True Value on Saturday and Sunday around noon because they would pop fresh popcorn. «Honey, we need a better shovel.» «Hmm, I can’t seem to find the birdseed I just bought.» «I could really use a hatchet to help me cut this watermelon.» Alas, I have not seen weekend popcorn in my last few visits. (Note to management: PLEASE bring back the delicious popcorn.)
Overall, the selection is great, pricing is pretty similar to the bigger chain stores, and service is fast and friendly.
