We love their fried chicken! My wife had the grouper special on a bed of spinach which was cooked to perfection and I of coarse had fried chicken. We have had liver here and it’s very tender. Salads are crisp and cold. The desserts are homemade and made on the premises. We always come back!

Paid one final visit to Fox’s this past Thursday before it closed for good on Saturday morning. It would never be on my list of must go to places, but it was always a place to end up at, especially when in South Miami. The lights were always low, the drinks generous, and everything very cheap. It is what all dive bars should strive to be. The fact that it lasted nearly 70 years is a testament to what it meant to generations of University of Miami students. If you never got a chance to experience it, I’m sorry for you. Fox’s will be missed.

Sixty nine years old and Closing the end of July, 2015. I will for sure miss this place. It’s not that the food ever was so all that… though more than decent…(never said to anybody, «If you’re in South Miami, you MUST visit…») though their Onion soup was a clear winner… no, not that. Drinks always good and generous, yet not you MUST have a… whatever. just reasonably priced and strong enough… So what WAS it that kept people coming back. over more years than I’ve even been around? Maybe the original owner George’s stories about his adventures as a Delta Captain. He’d sit with us, comp us drinks and dinners… the airplane pics all over the walls… now all gone, The chatty fun atmosphere created by Delta Stus. flight attendants now… Cory, the reallly nice bartender way back then… always seemed to know when you needed an ear to listen… or needed to be left alone with your thoughts in the dark… always the welcoming. dark. In the 80’s the dark allowed me to nurse my baby girl, then a few years later, my son… and still enjoy dinner, albeit with one hand, in the dark… Always the dark. In the nineties, we’d close up Borders,(also gone now)…then trip down the street and proceed to close up Foxes, a time, when last call was announced that always seemed to come far too soon,…wiped out their cheese– fry supplies… and some even went on on to close up Corbetts down the road, grateful, I’m sure for a late shift at Borders the next day. Of late, I’ve enjoyed introducing special people to the enveloping darkness,…maybe that was the draw… being able to fully focus on WHO you were with. all vestiges of what was going on in the rest of the world, even the time of day or night, fully forgotten… if only for a little while. I sat there tonight noticing quite a few senior citizens, undoubtedly drinking, and eating in Foxes for the last time. and remembering when their world was young. Yup, {{Foxes Sherron Inn}}. I’ll miss you. xo-a

Oh my, where to begin… Most people know that this place has been around forever and for it to continue being a favorite«go to» for so many patrons is testament to how great they are. If you are a Mad Men fan, then you have GOT to get your butt to Fox’s RIGHTNOW! It is dark, intimate, with a gorgeous bar and old time décor — dark wood and mirrors! I always double check the bar to see if Don Draper is having his Martini but alas, no Don — girl can dream can’t she? Now when I say dark, I really mean it. It takes a while for your eyes to adjust but once they do, you don’t want to leave! Fear not because if you’re afraid of the dark, that have a fully lit, larger room towards the back. I once hosted a dinner in that back room for 16 people and it was just fine. Service has always been exceptional. Ken and Carolina are awesome and very professional. The menu is surprisingly large considering you expect this to be more of a booze place(they even have a liquor window outside that you can buy bottles from). They have everything from steak and lobster to your simple bruschetta which comes with a delicious heap of tuna salad right in the middle. They have everything you want to drink and a good selection of wine bottles if that ‘s what you’re in the mood for(guess what I ordered!). Parking lot is right across form them and FREE. They accommodate large groups and have no problems giving you separate checks. They also have live music so call them and check out who is playing when. Oh, and one last thing — last time I was there with my friends we left and kept partying elsewhere. We realized that we had left my friend’s cell phone at the restaurant. They had already closed and were cleaning up. Luckily an employee was outside and saw our desperation. He went inside and searched for the phone high and low until he found it! We thanked him profusely and do you know what his response was? Here it goes: «No need to thank us — that just the kind of service you get here at Fox’s.» Nuff said!

Great dive bar with zero hype, simple cheap drinks, live college bands(As UM is nearby) great snacks. Definitely place to go when you want to listen to local bands while having a brew. BTW their late night window offers liquor bottles at all hours of the night.(just in case) lol

Ahh The Fox… This little hole in the wall is dark, really dark, nondescript and sports a liquor window. What’s not to love about it. They pour a mean drink, do Happy Hours and the food ain’t too shabby either. They could stand a few more vegetarian items on the menu if I were to nitpick. But to be fair, so could just about every bar and restaurant in Miami. There is no smoking inside Fox’s so you don’t have to worry about leaving smelling like an ashtray. Some people have complained about the waitstaff and the bartenders not being attentive. I have never had that problem. In fact I have found them to be friendly and helpful. Maybe the attention drops when it gets slammed, which it does, but I have not seen it. They have a parking lot so its easy to drive to. Just don’t have too many… the libations can be stiff. Especially during Happy Hour when they eschew the glassware and load up the booze in large plastic cups! Welcome to Fox’s…

So Mrs. Ralph P(The Wifey) and I met up with Adrienne C after the Elite Holiday Homestead Party @Schnebly this past Friday night. The wife and I got there 1st so we sat at the bar, and what did we find out, $ 7 Johnny Blacks!!! You can’t get better than that!!! Ok, for those that don’t know Fox’s has been around forever!!! It’s a Miami/South Miami Staple. Open late, good drinks, good food, and usually a very eclectic crowd! This is not one of those new and trendy places full of hipsters(Sorry Hipsters no offense) you find in Brickell/Midtown and so forth… Think of a 1960’s airport bar, with wrap around tables! It’s that type of place and vibe. Oh did I mention they have a liquor store open late right out side!!! So whlle we waited for Adrienne C. we had some drinks and we shared a French Onion Soup, OMG, the best French Onion Soup in Miami! The only reason I’m writing this review is b/c that soup was so good. Ok also b/c of $ 7 Johnny Blacks, LOL. So Adrienne C got there and we got a both, chit chatted got to know each other, very cool lady btw! I forgot what she ordered but me and the wifey shared some fish/seafood plate that was pretty darn good. So after I ordered I still had the craving for the soup, so I ordered my @2nd French Onion Soup, yes it is that good. We will definitely be going back!

Great, older restaurant and bar. Come in for lunch and wait about 30 minutes until your eyes adjust to the darkness.(The voice you hear is actually your waiter/waitress speaking to you. Your eyes will become accustomed to the dark soon!) Looking around, you’ll expect to see Frank Sinatra or his comrades from that era sitting in the booths. They actually replaced the old, really high booths several years ago, but you can still become almost invisible in here.(Great place for lunch or dinner with your mistress!} Food has been consistently good over the years. Their filet mignon has been excellent every time I’ve ordered one and the chef won’t hesitate to butterfly it when you ask, if you like it towards the«well» end of the spectrum. Their shrimp cocktail has been routinely good, but I’ve been tending more to their escargot. They also have a couple of «specialty nights» like prime rib or lobster. Call for days and details. Full liquor bar with skilled bartenders and a healthy compliment of some brands that are generally not available. They’ve been around in a town that’s tough on restaurants since around 1946, so, they are doing something right!

The remodeling job of a couple years back was totally un– needed. «If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.» Fox’s was always an old standby for a 3AM burger and drinks — now they close at 10 ! I would like to eat there again soon, even with their absurdly early closing time, but they will have to clean the bathroom first — the stench hits you at the front door, killing even the largest appetite.

So the three stars is due to the VERY heavy smell of dirty mop water that sucker punched me the second I walked in. Not exaggerating, it was really bad and a tad bothersome. I’m hoping that was maybe just my luck and that it doesn’t normally smell that way. This place is a little whole in the wall. It’s teeny, tiny but for small intimate get togethers for drinks, it’s quite perfect. The service was good, nothing out of the norm. The drinks as well as the prices were good! My friend was extremely pleased with the drink she ordered(apparently most places make it wrong.) I will be back since I live close by.

What can I tell you about Fox’s, hmmm. This little Dive is definitely an institution. It’s been around as long as I can remember and definitely a relic of an era long gone. The décor is unique and if you’re looking for«cozy» this would be the place. Great for a date night or to try something new ambiance-wise. Been here a few times over the years and it seems this place has lost its luster in the food department. I was at Fox’s this week and the service was great, very attentive and all I ordered was the Santa Fe fries which are steak cut fries, with cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives. Mmmmm How delicious! Well, what I got was a soggy mound of greasy fries & cheese. There was NO way they had been made to order. How can you go wrong with fries? I WOULD have sent them back but it would’ve only prolonged the date – know what I’m sayin?! LOL The Grey Goose is only $ 7 after 7pm so if you’re a lush & like the vodka you might wanna check them out for the liquor and the cubby-hole vibe, complete with tall backed round booths and vintage feel! Just wish the food was better…

20 years ago this restaurant was excellent. I went last night for the first time in about 10 years and was very disappointed. The waiter was In a big hurry. We ordered the special which was prime rib. The meat was very very tough. The waiter asked if our meal was okay and we told him no, that the meat was very tough. He did nothing, the bill came and they charged us the full amount. We will never go back.

Fox’s meets the perfect definition of a «hole in the wall”– small. Okay, the place isn’t that small, but what is really tiny is the main meeting room with all the bar tops you see as you walk in. But wait, you need more space? There is more space to the sides. In regards to the food, the kettle chips are delicious, and they have really good drink deals. 2 for 1 prices. I will probably come here again to try their food, but I like the intimacy of the place.

Nice little neighborhood bar to come to if you’re really not feeling the hoitey toitey Miami scene. Very dark and intimate which you don’t find all that often in this city. Patrons aren’t your typical dive bar type either(Like the ones you’d find at Little Hoolies). Makes for a pleasant and cozy setting. They do make a delicious Spinach Dip. If you’re counting calories, so sad for you. I really wish they had Guinness on tap :’( Our server Carolina is always professional, personable and sweet. Servers with a positive energy is always a plus! Thank you Carolina!

Totally decent bar. The mixed drinks were suuuuuper strong though – completely at the expense of taste though, so be warned. Avoid going in groups though – for a party of 12(even when we called ahead) they stuck us in the tiniest room that had a speaker, but no music. But the front area has a lot of ambiance. And it’s far enough off the beaten trail where it feels intimate.

I can’t help but think this bar could be so much more. It’s got the history, the dark, seductive ambiance, the vintage bar-feel that beckons your most classic cocktail order, and yet despite this, Fox’s fell short on my visit last night. Simply put, our food was not good. The citrus salad lacked flavor and the french fries were anything but fresh. But, I didn’t necessarily go to Fox’s to eat, I came for a nightcap. On that front, Fox’s provided two simple cocktails and while those proved hard to mess up, it’d be great to see a cocktail menu brimming with well-known classics and crafted by a well-versed bartender. What was certainly good was the people watching, mostly semi-sloppy drinkers stumbling around.
