Really good jerk chicken… always fresh and spicy… cabbage is good too… nice and crisp not soggy and drenched in oil… plantains can be hit or miss though… The large size dinner is easily enough for 2 people to share… in my opinion… the place is small and decorated with a lot of memorabilia… I usually order take out.

Me and my daughter was riding around looking for some Jamaican food and stumbled across Munchies This food is amazing the best jerk ever! All of food is authentic Jamaican food. I am visiting from Cali and they don’t have many authentic tasty Jamaican food like Munchies! The atmosphere has a real Caribbean feel, the owners were professional, friendly and generous with the food. They let me sample the food to get and idea of what to order, and they were not stingy with the portion size. They are Great! I love this establishment and I rate them 5 stars and 2 ‘s up!

I ordered takeout. It wasn’t super authentic or tasty but it’ll do. Good amount of food for the price.(I had the jerk chicken meal)

Great value. Terrific food! You cannot be the jerk chicken for 10.99. Huge and delicious and it is always so fast.

Wednesday was my first time to Munchies… and all I can say is God why did I not know about this delicious place prior to yesterday?! I actually saw an advertisement for«dutch pot» while driving to work on day. After reading their reviews and seeing a few people recommended Munchies, I diverted the extra 10 minutes to try it out. I ordered the large oxtail which was delicious! I absolutely love oxtail, and the flavor was excellent. The portions are large and it comes with rice, plantains and cabbage. I loved the food so much I went back today and decided to try the Jerk chicken. Amazing. This place is definitely gonna be in my dinner rotations going forward!

Ok, I’m not lying, the jerk chicken and jerk ribs here are amazing. They are unmatched. It’s like the cook brought Jamaica to this restaurant. The Jerk is OUTSTANDING! BUT… 45% of the time, they are out of food and if they do have some, there is usually a wait. The jerk is a 5, but the convenience brings it it a 3.5−4.

I wanted to give this place no more than three stars: I placed an order for delivery on a Saturday night and was told 30 minutes, but it ended up taking 70. The problem with my three-star plan was that the food(I ordered the jerk chicken) was way too good for three stars. I’ll definitely be coming back, but next time I’ll probably do dine-in or takeout.

I ordered the large oxtails to go. When I got home and opened the container, I thought, «What the f*#k !!». I saw a whole lot of bones with sauce over my rice with very little meat! I was livid! I’ve been there several times… off and on… and the food was always ‘ok’. It was never consistently the same. The white dude behind the counter always gave me a negative vibe. I’m korean-african american… my ‘blackness’ is not so obvious. For some reason, the white dude was never as cordial to me as he was to the other ‘brethren’. Didn’t let it bother me none because I was there to get some occasional grub not rub elbows with him. But after today, I am convinced the man told one of the cooks to give me scraps! I truly believed he wanted to get rid of me! Ha! Well he did! Don’t think he expected me to come back. But I did! I complained about the bones with sauce and demanded he give me my money back! Which he did very quickly. The nerve! How dare he charge me $ 15.00 for that s*%t !! They need to take lessons in customer service!

So after hearing about this place from a friend and driving by several time I decided one Saturday afternoon to stop in and pick up something. I had a taste for curry goat with roti so that is what I ordered. The order did not take long. I was pleasantly surprised that they did not put the curry in the roti at most places do I prefer it to be separate. The roti looked real homemade not like the large infused round circular discs that most Realty houses will provide you with it was a real homemade your mama made it clap roti. When I got home I started to devour my meal and I immediately enjoyed the flavor of the curry. I did have one complaint: they seem to have been less meat in my order than I would have liked. Perhaps it was towards the end of the day. I’ll end after 4 p.m. and perhaps all the meat was gone still I enjoyed what I was given just wishing I had more me the pieces were very small and bony. It did not deter me however I will be going back a little earlier and perhaps by mentioning my last situation they might make sure I got some healthy pieces of meat in my order. Overall I love the flavor of the meal. The location is in a clean quiet area and so is the restaurant I would definitely return soon.

Lawdd a mercy! Came across this spot after my cousin recommended it. I was in the mood for chicken roti and I prayed that they wouldn’t disappoint. My cousin went ahead and ordered curry goat roti. The turnaround time for service wasn’t too bad at all(15 minutes tops). As soon as we got home we traded off pieces of pur roti and they were delicious. But I must say the curry goat was TOPNOTCH. If youre into roti or chapati Munchies will definitely fill that void. Haven’t tried their other options but they definitely have a new customer.

I ate some soulfully good brown stew chicken last night, if you aren’t familiar with Jamaican food but are curious(which you should be!) this is a great gateway drug, um, I mean dish. Total comfort food in the best way. Like someone who cared about you cooked it. Wasted years not eating here. But I’ll be back for more. Soon. Oh yeah, enough leftovers for another meal. That’s the 6th star.

I’ve had the curry chicken, spinach patty, and cornmeal porridge. They were all really tasty! I only recommend if your going to pick up your food. Delivery takes forever every time, so disappointing.

A really good and tasty place! Fun and exotic if you’re into trying new flavors. We got a table for two, neither of us have ever had Jamaican food so the waitress was really nice and helped us choose the food that we would enjoy the most. We wanted to get the curry goat, and the chicken stew, and the waitress made sure that we got a little taste of the chicken curry as well in our plates. Everything we tasted there was really good. We got the small sized dish, and the portion size was still really good. we both enjoyed it and were happy to have eaten there. The prices are fair and they play reggae music which is awesome and makes sitting there really fun, we can’t wait to come again and taste some of the other things this place has to offer!!!

Munchies oxtails are awesome. Went there for lunch and they were closed. I was so hurt that I skipped lunch because my mouth was watering just thinking about them.

I was looking for some good authentic Caribbean food near my area apart from ‘Golden Krust’. I came here and I ordered Curry Chicken. The food was really good! It was. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that the rice & peas was kind of bland. It wasn’t the best i’ve ever had. Also the curry chicken didn’t come with as much sauce to go with the rice but the food was good. Im not gonna be picky. I will def come back again. The chef, a woman, was dancing to some music as she was dishing the food. Funny.

I pass a number of Caribbean restaurants on my way to Munchie’s. In my opinion, none of them can even compare despite their convenience. Munchies is the real thing! I’ve tried their jerk chicken, stew chicken, and curry goat — all were amazing. I am now a weekly patron of this establishment. Munchie is a doll :) I look forward to trying more menu options. Actually, I think I may have Munchie’s for dinner!!!

Munchies is worth the trip to South Orange. It’ honestly road trip worthy. I’ve ordered the jerk chicken, oxtail, porridge and had the carrot cake. You can’t go wrong. If i could pick this cute little Caribbean spot and move it over next to my office, I would.

I love this place. I have the cornmeal porridge as often as I can. You can see everything being made, which I really appreciate. The patties are also delish, my personal fave is the cheese & spinach. I first came here because of the reviews on Unilocal and I’m so glad that I did.

To my surprise the FOOD was amazing! Me being 100% Jamaican, I know REAl Jamaican food when I see it/smell it/taste it. The ambiance was chill. went with my sister. She had the oxtails and I had the jerk chicken .Both were delish ! The plantains were done to the tee rice & pease were done well, only problem was I needed more rice to go with the heavy portion of meat. The owner was very polite :) so were the cooks. Big plus was the fact that you get full service. No alcoholic drinks tho. Price is right $$
