I see that Unilocal categorizes this as a skating rink. Although there is ice, there are no skates in curling. Instead you use two attachments for your tennis shoes: one to grip and one to glide. They provide everything you need to play, so you really only have to show up in sweats. A pair of gloves might be a good idea, too. The sport is most like shuffleboard. In addition to the curler, you have two sweepers and a captain. Everyone curls at one point, and the rounds are similar to innings. You’ll need about 30 minutes to get accustomed to everything and then that leaves about 90 minutes to play a few games. It is easy to learn and hard to master. If you were as intrigued as I was from watching the Olympic event, you owe it to yourself to stop by the PCC. They have group packages available that are perfect for birthdays or corporate outings. Just make sure you have an even number of people; 8 or 16 works best since there are 4 to a team. The staff is incredibly nice. When you walk in, it almost feels like you’ve been invited into someone’s home. And when you leave, you’ll feel like part of the family. I only wish it was closer to NYC!
