Ashley at Coco Cheveux is a treasure. She is a sheer genius and I happily travel from Peaks Island(even at 38 weeks pregnant) for a cut. I’m so lucky to have found her and can’t recommend her enough. Perfection!

DON’T GO to Co-Co! I was referred to Coco Salon by a friend and had personally heard SO many radio advertisements(which basically rave about their services and stylists) that I figured, why not give this place a try? Um, big mistake. I went in for blond highlights and came out with a horrible dye job! The highlights were so bad that they left«spotty» brown and orange dots all over my head. It was so bad that when I called to complain, they got me right in the following day to have someone fix it. What I didn’t know, was that«someone» was the SAME girl who had caused the damage in the first place! What?! Talk about a really awkward appointment. I was really upset and disappointed that they put me RIGHT back with the same girl. I didn’t feel like I should’ve been scheduled for a REDO by the same inexperienced, beginner stylist AGAIN if she didn’t know what she was doing the first time around. It was really annoying and aggravating to know they just really didn’t care about what I had explained to them and about making it right with me. The correction took 2 hours and didn’t really fix the spots. Going to Coco’s was a complete waste of my time and money and I wound up going elsewhere to have my color corrected. Don’t do what I did and fall for their radio promo thinking that means they must do good hair. Yeah, sure, I saved like 40 bucks on my highlight but I got a sloppy spotty mess in return! Don’t make the same mistake I did. Head to the city, find an experienced stylist and have it done right. Or in my case, re-done right! Errr.

So, first off, it’s impossible to leave without looking awesome. I’ve seen several stylists, all of which are superb, but I adore Heather. She saved my hair and every cut is better than the last. I had been growing out a bad cut and dye job for almost six months before I finally went to Coco based on a friend’s recommendation. Every six-ish weeks I see Heather and it’s the best cut I’ve ever had. Every time. Secondly, my husband is British and is convinced he can’t get a «proper trim» in the States, so I sent him to NIcole and he swears by her. All around: amazing salon, excellent service, and wonderful people. Fact is, if you can spend $ 30 on a cut, just try it.

I’ve been going here almost a year now. Love it!!! I see Allison she’s a higher level I believe so a little pricey but way worth it. She made it so easy to go from my natural blonde to vibrant red. I’m so happy with my color and I’m always happy with my cut. The environment is wonderful. They offer me coffee, tea, water and snacks and I always feel relaxed. One time I felt rushed and ended up very unhappy with my hair but it was ok. I adore this place it’s my salon of choice every time

To start off my star rating would be lower if it would let me. I came in for a friends wedding to get an up do. I have short hair and they ended up spending about five minutes on it, only to have me leave basically how I came in. Since I really did not get an up do or an anything do I figured they would only charge me about ten bucks or so. Oh was I wrong. They charged me the full sixty for an hour long up do, which I had to fix when we got to the hotel because it was not even straight and the sides pulled back were lopsided. When I got to the counter to pay they told me the total and I gave her a funny look as I pointed to my hair telling her I came in basically like this and it took five minutes, she just stated yes and held her hand out for money. I didn’t make a big scene because it was my friends wedding and that would be rude. So I paid her, and as she took the money asked if i wanted to leave a tip. I then looked at her like she was nuts because the girl already made sixty bucks in five minutes… what more could they want! So all in all I would not go back here ever again. On top of what happened to me one other girl had her hair fall out within ten minutes and one other girl was insulted… great business.

I got my hair done here about 6 months ago and I will not be going back. This is definitely not a place to go if you have ethnic hair. I’m african american and I saw a post that suggested CoCo Cheveaux so off I went to check it out. When I got there, I told the lady that I wanted red hair. I was sprouting some grays and wanted to feel younger. She immediately rejected my decision. She told me she didn’t know how to work with«my kind of hair» and was unsure if it was ok to bleach my hair. I told her that she didn’t need to bleach it, i’ve had my hair dyed red before without having it bleached first and it came out great. A solid 25 minutes later we agreed to do some highlights and then just dye everything a darker red. Ok, I was fine with that. Now, after all was said and done and I finally had some red hair she told me she couldn’t blow-dry it because she didn’t know what the reaction would be. I don’t know if you’ve ever walked out of a Hair Salon with wet, frizzy, un-styled hair, but let me tell you, it was EMBARRASSING. I was nearly in tears. Needless to say, I would not recommend this place to ANY of my friends and I definitely won’t be back. Thanks for nothing CoCo.
