What’s not to like about a lovely wine shop where you can get your mountain bike tuned up?! This has to be one of the best combination business ideas in the world. I’m not sure what draws people in: the need for wrenching or the need for wine, but either way, you’ll find just what you need at Flock & Vine. Prices are super reasonable for both services, btw. Kevin did a great job cleaning up and checking out my mountain bike and he and Jen were a blast. If you’re not comfortable with a quirky bike mechanic, Kevin might not be the guy for you, but his work is top notch and his stories and anecdotes are even better. Be prepared to spend some time at the shop, inquire about the free wine tastings, and get to know this great local business. You’ll be glad you found this hidden gem!

A quick review for now: This is my second trip in… Lovely and funny husband and wife team! Trip 1: exploratory trip. I needed some wine for a wedding gift but since I don’t drink much wine I asked immediately for help(plus I could snoop at the bike repair). She asked me my price point and went immediately 6 different wines and gave me short overviews of each explaining why they may be appealing. Then I started talking to her husband about bikes and mentioned a gear issue I was having on my new bike. I ride, but I am clueless when it comes to working on my bike and not all the bike shops want to spend time dealing with newbies so you have folks like me out there who are more than tooling around town but get a flat and need to call for rescue. He was helpful and welcomed me to join them Sundays for rides. Trip 2: I had sent a friend in to check out the lobster trap bike baskets they have cuz he was looking for a basket to give as a gift and these are unique. I was back though cuz… I had a flat and my toolkit is for my old bike and tires so I didn’t even have a hand pump to fit my new tubes. I sat at the table while we all chit chatted about politics and my half painted house and bike rides and beer while he checked my cables for my shifting problem and swapped out my flat. I ended up grabbing two Allagash brews, some fixed gear and some cider. I need to go back for wine tasting Mondays from 5:30 — 7:30 and Sunday rides. I love that another great small business is helping to revitalize Knightville and keep it interesting! Like them on FB too!
