The washers and dryers are clean and plentiful. They have regular 1-load machines and then a whole range of sizes(20lbs, 40lbs, 60lbs, and 80lbs) washers and dryers of different sizes, as well. This is super convenient. You can bring all your laundry and get it done at the same time, instead of having to wait for machines to finish to do more loads. Plus, the larger machines are great for linens, blankets, etc. The new owners are really nice and friendly. The place is clean and well maintained. There’s also free wi-fi.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Portland, ME
THIS. This is my favorite laundromat in the Portland area so far. I consider myself a laundromat connoisseur. A sommelier of the suds-o-matic. The wizard of the wash and fold. Sometimes I dream of opening my own boutique laundromat with bespoke washing machines imported from Europe and specialty machines designed to only wash socks. Maybe I’d also have a menu of detergents, locally sourced and micro-brewed by men in waistcoats and beards. The décor would be hand-hewn wood and stone. And the space would double as a late night underground poetry venue where we would use all of the bits of laundry people left behind to write words, then we’d throw everything into the dryer and pull the pieces out to make radical, Dadaist verse. A would-be laundress can only dream. For now, the same old same old laundromats will have to suffice and I’ll have to continue judging them on the same old criteria of: 1. Is it clean? 2. Are the machines in proper working order? 3. Is the staff not creepy or grumpy or in any way obnoxious? 4. Are there enough dryers fortheloveofgodandallthatisholy?! And that is why J&R Millcreek Laundromat has quickly become my favorite one of all. It’s always clean, the machines are rarely out of order and are well-maintained, the staff is only slightly goofy and weird, and there is never ever ever a wait for dryers. There are also tons of folding tables and they keep the Food Network on all day so you have something to do if your phone is dying. The busy times are when you would expect, weekends after 10am, but they have great hours so you can throw a load on before you go into work in the morning or swing by afterward with plenty of time to spare. I mean, it’s a laundromat. But as far as they go, it’s pretty stellar. That is, until my boutique laundromat opens up.
