I took my wife and my daughter to lunch… We celebrated an early mother’s day. Food was good, fish tacos(very good!), lobster roll(much better than others we trued for a higher price in other sea food restaurants), and crab sandwich. The best came with the beer sampler(10) selected flavors. We had a great time… Service was excellent. We will definitively will return

I ordered the chicken bacon cheddar sandwich on ciabatta… which was the beginning of the end of my optimism. The first bite, with visions of juicy grilled chicken between a warm, moist ciabatta roll, was instead met with a level of dryness that would make Frank Herbert envious. Me being the fat kid that I am, gave the sandwich an extra few bites to see if any redeeming qualities could be found, but alas, this sandwich was a dismal failure. Despite my dinner’s massive imperfections, the worst of my dining experience was yet to come. Upon my waitress asking how my meal was going, I explained my dissatisfaction with the dryness factor, to which she replied, «I know, I usually suggest other bread for the sandwich. The kitchen has been backed up all night, so I didn’t tell them.» Okay, let’s break that down: 1. You say you normally recommend another option, but I apparently didn’t meet the requirements for said recommendation? 2. The kitchen was so backed up, you didn’t inform them. Isn’t it part of your job to put customer satisfaction as a priority over the inconvenience of informing the kitchen? Now I feel obligated to highlight the fact that my complaint was not an over exaggeration. It usually takes a lot for me to scrap a meal, but the ciabatta bun was so spectacularly bad, I had to wonder if they kept the same bread for well over a week. Anyway, the waitress ended up not even apologizing, and didn’t offer any options to assist me in rectifying my experience. Not good. It’s fair to say I will not be returning to the Seadog in South Portland.

Let me start off by saying that my waiter Michael H was fantastic! I have been a waiter for 10 years and I am envious of his skill. Amazing Oy attentive and friendly(not overly friendly). He made sure my glass was filled with seltzer at all times. I had about 4 – 5 glasses. While dropping off stuff to our table he would make it a point to walk by all his other tables to make sure what he needed to do for his other tables once he was done dropping off our food/drinks. I loved him. You can tell that the fried food is battered there which is a huge plus. The quality of the food is much better than other pub like places that have more than one location. I find that places loose their quality of food the more locations they have. My friend Brendan came with me and he is not easily impressed and he left extremely happy with the whole experience. We will be back.

We go to Seadog from time to time and have always enjoyed the food. It’s an easy spot for brunch because the resturant is big and out of the Portland restaurant area(where seats for brunch can be hard to come by). We are big fans of the Bloody Mary bar they do on Saturday and Sunday. The other day I went for lunch with a friend. She had the steak and artichoke salad and it was delicious. Steak was tender and full of juicy flavor. The grilled artichoke hearts were seared just how I like. I had the seared brussel sprouts salad with raw tuna steak added. Yum! It was good, good good. Tuna was fresh and went so well with the Asian flare of the salad I had. Will definitely be ordering that dish again. Out of all the restaurants in the Maine Mall area this is one of the better ones to check out! And who doesn’t like a good Seadog beer now and again?

Great service and food! I didn’t like the waiter winking at me all night or how the drinks were made, was too inconsistent. I would recommend anyone coming into this restaurant, definitely worth the money.

Stopped by Seadog Brewery after getting in from a really late flight. At the hour that I had arrived they were only offering their late night menu, so I was at first a little disappointed but their Strawberry Goat cheese salad is absolutely delicious and is comes in a generous portion. Good place, I was glad they were open, the service was good as well.

This review is based only on the beer. We had great service. We tried the ten beers on tap sampler and all of them were subpar compared to what we are use to in North Carolina.

We were super hungry and are interested in local brewing, so this seemed like a no-brainer. Thw food was good, I had the Haddock Sandwich and fries, he had the Fishermans Bake, both were cooked well and tasted fine. Unfortunately our wait staff varied so much through the 1.5 hours we went sure who should get the tip. When we we finally ready to leave, there were no waiters or waitresses to be found for almost 10 minutes. The atmosphere was loud, but expected that.

I was disappointed with the food and the beers. I went back a few times as the place is pretty popular, but it didn’t get better. It’s not a bad place to hang out but nothing special.

My wife, son, and I are visiting Maine and got in too late to do anything other than eat. I had the new england clam chowder and a lobster roll with fresh chips. The chowder wasn’t super hot, but had nice meaty clams throughout. The lobster roll was 98% lobster and 2% bread, mayo, and seasonings. Spray the roll with provided lemon for deliciousness. My wife had the lobster bisque and blt avacado salad. I tried the bisque and it was absolutely amazing. Super hot, full of lobster chunks, and really a treat. Her salad was large and included a healthy amount of Bacon. We also ordered the full flight of beer samples so we could get a good sampling. Loved the blueberry wheat and the hazelnut porter. Try them all!

At one time, early on, this was a darn good place for a family meal. Not fancy, but made with pride and great ingredients. That time has passed. It’s still(almost) three stars, more so due to the huge menu, the friendly service, and a fun, modern atmosphere. Something«corporate» has happened, and it’s not really a quality experience anymore. Lobsters were super hard shell(the cheap kind) and no one in the back even pre-cracked them. Lame. The mussels were flavorful, but seemed dry and overcooked(and lesser quality mussels to begin with). Two fries came out — one was hot and crisp, the other wilted as if the chef was foisting a forgotten side dish on us. Granted, the waitress fixed the issue, but the expediter shouldn’t have let it even leave the kitchen. The lobster roll was a weak imitation of a classic dish; a bit embarrassing. Clam chowder was way too thick, with too few clams and too much thickening agent. A good clam chowder is thin, not thick. Deserts were acceptable but obviously not made in house. Overall, the spark at this once cool establishment has gone out. Too bad.

I liked it. Had chowder and fried clams. Very good and tasty. Service was good. Desert chocolate was good. Had a nice hazelnut porter to drink. Enjoyed that. Would go back if in the area of Maine Mall and not wanting to go downtown.

If you fry pickles, they will come! the lighting is on the dimmer side and very relaxing. The room has a nice buzz to it. Usually we sit at the bar which, itself, is pleasing to the eye. It’s nice deep tone of cherrywood and very sturdy. There are TV sets in every direction, all playing different sports with muted volume which I really appreciate, especially when compared to the giant buffalo wing chain restaurant next door. We always start a raspberry wheat ale, a sunfish and an order of fried pickles served with a nice chipotle aioli. A good combo of bitter, heat and sweet. The beer speaks for itself. I’m slightly biased because I love all seadog beer flavors. The pub burger was served with a «seadog mustard.» The mustard was delicious. I was tempted to eat it right from the container, it had a spicy Dijon heat to it that set my tastbuds on a journey towards mustard nervana. The burger was delicious too! We’ve eaten here many a time. As long as they keep frying pickles we’ll keep returning.

This was my second time visiting this awesome brewhouse. My bestie lives here and she loves this place. The first time I HAD to get the lobster, because this is Maine. It was an entire lobster with fries and a huge salad– all for about $ 20! It was sooooooo good. My second visit, I got a local fav, the garlic burger. The garlic aioli sauce was Everything! They also have an extensive selection of beers on tap– blueberry, apricot, raspberry ect. I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m in town.

Enjoyed the atmosphere here. They had a live folksinger while we were there. Our waiter did a real good job taking care of us. Love all the great beers they brew. Lots of TVs to watch live sports. We knock them down a star because their clam chowder tasted like it came out of a can. We knock them down another star because they don’t adequately post the prices for souvenirs in their gift shop.

Have been here many times– both for drinks and meals. They have several beers I like. I also like the mixed drinks, although they can be a little on the strong side. On my most recent visit, last week, we had a very friendly waitress who did a great job answering questions and making suggestions. Atmosphere is laid back, prices are fair, and never had a complaint about the food.

This is my second visit to this establishment and I am satisfied once again. The mussels with tomato fennel cream are delicious and the spring roll salad had fresh, great flavors and I was not dissapointed. I also ordered oysters which, although fresh and flavorful, were not shucked correctly where it should have been detached from the membrane. Also they were not served on ice as I am accustomed to when eating at restaurants that serve them in the regular. I also ordered the garlic sausage flatbread which the bread was soggy and the sauce a little sweet for my taste but the saugage had great flavor. Beer is always good and bar staff was attentive and friendly and made good recommendations.

All the entrees at my table seemed a bit under seasoned. However the bowl of clam chowder we all shared was delicious. It was definitely the best part of the meal and I would go back for more. Our waitress was really nice. If you’re going to sample the brew it might be better but we were just there for the food and weren’t too impressed overall.
