I love that meals here are subsidized and service is very quick. I wouldn’t say that there are a lot of choices here but it’s decent for a quick lunch. It’s good for a hamburger, salad or soup but I don’t care too much for other things. Once I had a vegetarian enchilada with spanish rice and pico de gallo. The enchilada had crusted cheese on it(not very appetizing) and the rice was very mushy; pico de gallo was very fresh but that’s not too hard to mess up. Another time I had a red pepper and potato soup, flavor was a little on the salty side but good with bread; I just wished that there were pieces of potato or something in that soup because it kind of reminded me of baby food. Seating and everything else here is great. I always find seating here so I never worry about this cafeteria being too full. Final Thoughts: I’d prefer other genentech cafeteria’s to this one but it’s convenient to grab a quick lunch after training.

One of my best friends works at Genentech so we ate breakfast in the cafeteria before heading to the airport for our flight back to NYC. It was cute and they had a good variety of food but nothing to write home about. The prices didn’t seem that much better than buying the same food elsewhere so I will call this one just A-OK.

YUM. NOTBAD. I know Building 33 has the best cafeteria, but I’ve found some yummy meals at this location too. Seems like everything is good besides the sushi and grill– according to friends. So far I’ve had yummy tri tip, wraps, and salad. Thanks for subsidizing my meals and for not being free because I’ll get super fat. Genentech= Genengood!

The soup is unflavorful and how can you ruin baked beans? By making it as bland as possible. Why use smoked salmon for sushi? It’s probably because it’s much cheaper and keeps a lot longer. If I wanted smoke salmon, I’d go to Costco and buy me a couple pounds of it.

Okay so the food is supposed to be subsidized. But the labor is not. I have gotten good poisoning from here too many times. I couldn’t figure out which dishes I was getting sick from. But then my coworker kept getting food poisoning from the salads, and we were talking about in it the break room. Then this guy in the room stated that they use the same cutting boards for the veggies and meats. Now the easy cross contamination makes sense. Once my friend, April, ordered French fries. She was eating them with a fork, then noticed that it looked like a fry was suspended in the air. Weird. Then at a closer look, there was a long thin thread like a big lintball tangled up in the fries. That was so gross that we went back to show the manager. The manager first offered her more fries. Why would she want more contaminated fries?! She traded the gross fries for a sealed beverage. Since then, we only buy sealed packaged items. Is there anyway to bring Guckenheimer back? Bön Appetit is not making the cut when the standards were low to begin with. And why is everything more expensive? Remember subsidized?
