Yum, some more carby comfort food options at the Ferry Building Farmers’ Market! Their stand basically sells bougie knishs and creative latkes, kept warm in a little toaster oven. Knishes were everywhere when I lived in NYC, so I’ve kind of missed them after moving out here. To use fancy and creative ingredients in a knish is such a nice SF spin! Ballpark Potato Knish: The most unique knish I’ve ever had. Curried potato, like the curry spice used in chicken curry salad not the kind of curry you’d get at an Indian restaurant. Bits of hot dog and sauerkraut mixed in then topped with mustard. It was such a unique and enjoyable mishmash of flavors and textures! This is definitely more innovative than what Yonah Schimmel would make! Pastrami Latke: Pastrami cooked into the latke, definitely a first for me! The potato managed to be nice and crispy on the outside while smooth on the inside. Wasn’t feeling the pastrami as much though. It was pretty sparse and it was dried out a bit during the latke frying. Loved the sour cream and apple compote on top(way better than jarred apple sauce). Still a nice crispy latke on the go.

My wife and I run the CoffeeShop here in the Mission and Ramni approached us a year ago with his delectable, organic Knish and Latke… Latke, topped with homemade organic five-apple Apple Sauce with Bourbon and Sour Crème. Knish, topped with their Rosemary Mustard and Spicy Ketchup, woven with Cabbage and Corned Beef, Curry Beef, Pastrami, Herb Goat Cheese, Broccoli Cheddar, Wild Mushroom, Curry Vegetable… the revolving list of ingredients is as endless as Ramni’s curious, roving imagination… they were an instant hit and we now happily rock them daily! King Knish is also serving daily at the Ferry Building, check them out if you ever there!

Yummmmm! Really nice variety. Filling tastes just like home, perfect consistency! Definitely on the gourmet end as far as size/pricing goes.

Was roaming around the shops in Embarcadero and came across this guy parked in front of the market. Sucker for a good sales pitch, he drew us in. Sounded good. Looked good. Too hyped up? Yes. For sure. He had a super bowl special that weekend that we went with. Maybe I don’t know my Knish, but this was mushy and flavorless. Potato was just underwhelming and the taste just didn’t mix. Don’t know what it was, just a little off. I walked away feeling like I just wasted $ 6. In fact, neither my wife nor I finished it so we could get the melted Brie at Cowgirl, which by the way, is AMAZING! Bottom line, choose your calories wisely. This wasn’t for us.

Had King Knish cater our holiday party; went with recommended poached salmon, bite size knishes, meatballs, crab cakes, to name off some items. Was very pleased with the setup and service — and it had to be one of best poached salmons I have experienced. Our guest ate everything — which is great sign!

I would give him zero stars for his professionalism. I heard about him through Hatchery. I ordered some of his products back in January. I still have no received my full order, and it is the end of April!!! He was at first very prompt with responding back to my e-mails in the beginning. However, now, I have written him three times and still have not received a response. I don’t care how good the food may be, his lack of professionalism trumps. I will NEVER order from him again and will NEVER recommend him.

We walked into Streat Food having absolutely no idea what we wanted. From one end of the court to nearly the other, nothing really spoke to my girlfriend Kat or me… that is, until we were nearly at the end of our options and some ONE actually spoke to us. Enter Ramni Levi, chef/owner of King Knish, who standing behind his table called us the couple steps over, took the Los off his pot of matzoh ball soup and with the lid not only waved the delicious scent of the soup towards us, but also the sparkle and warmth of his character. We can’t recommend King Knish or Ramni enough! He took us by the figurative hand and created a scrumptious combo of the matzoh ball soup that helped lure us, home-made cole slaw with his own personal touches, chicken, honey-rosemary mustard and perhaps the best knish I have ever tasted — and as a former NYC-er that is DAMN high praise! The only way I would have altered our order is to replace the chicken with another amazing knish. While the chicken was certainly good, the other dishes worked so perfectly together that it almost seemed not to belong. Please, I beg of you — do yourself a favor and find this place, whatever it takes. When you meet Ramni, you just might feel as if you have been transported to the warm kitchen of an old friend, as he lovingly prepares a meal especially for you… and eyes you with proud expectation as he waits for your inevitable gush of praise.

Had a pastrami knish just NOW at the soma Streat-eat park and I really needed to Unilocal how BAD it was so you guys dont waste ur hard earn money here. The potato was mushy, wet and tasted refrigerated. I hardly saw any pastrami meat in there! What bullshit! Possibly the worst food I ate in SF! I love Knish and to be called King knish. Its pure blashemphy!!! I want my $ 10 back! The cole slaw Sucked too!!!

This was not a kniche. It was undercooked rubbery pastry dough filed with soupy potatoes(powdered from a box?) and 3 scraps of pastrami(also debatable). Yuck.

Last weekend we noticed that house of bagels no longer sold the big chunky knishes and instead sold the Kings Knishes. They were thinner, looked less doughy and more like bubbies than any other i have seen in sf. And they are great. I tried them cold. They were good. I just ate one hot and they are great! I warmed it in a pan on the stove. The cheddar and broccoli melted into the fluffy potatoes and I am delighted. The thin crust is like a silky robe hiding the treasure. I am so excited to try them again. The only dow side… is tge price. 5.95 for a small potato pie… a bit too much unless it also had a side of slaw and cup of soup.

Didn’t buy any because I was too much in #effthat mode when House of Bagels(and the whole city, as I was told) had run out of chopped liver. But I warmed up to the idea when I saw pastrami knish on the menu and overheard the King Knish t-shirt man telling someone in line about M&M knishes for Mardi Gras and(nearly) putting baby Jesuses inside them. Anyone who does M&M knish is fine by me. Kinda like the M&M banchan at that Korean place.( )

Time: 7:52pm/58°F partly cloudy Purpose: Was at first friday 3÷7÷2014 walking past all the seen tried and true vendors til this place got my attention. I remember that name just couldn’t get it in with a vague memory. Set-up: Mobile food truck with foldable convention table, canopy, commercial grade stainless steel toaster, a few plastic utensil tubs. Staff: A older guy I think it was the owner himself chef Ramni Levy. His employee name Vincent I guess as he was running like a dog when Ramni calls his name. Anytime when an order from a customer comes in Ramni would make drumming motion banging on the tabletop calling Vincent I got orders. Cleanliness: Seems clean both workers in red t-shirts well groom, clean appearance. Eats/Drinks: One classic potato $ 7. It was definitely fresh as it was a baked type not fried. Hot enough to the touch but it was just the size of a boca burger patty. Kinda flat no volume to it’s size I had knish before and the size was 2 – 3 it’s filling and was baked also. Maybe filo dough wasn’t fresh or missing an ingredient. Products: 6 savory flavors-classic potato, broccoli cheddar, edemame, spinach/feta/tomato, pastrami, curried beef. 1 sweet flavor-sweet potato. Specialty: Butterscotch dipped sweet potato, white chocolate dipped rose petal and strawberry, dark chocolate dipped wasabi. King knish creations: The following are sold in a jar prices varies. Mango chutney, roasted bell pepper chutney, berry medley compote, five spice ketchup, fresh rosemary honey mustard. Punch Lines: Fresh on site baking, limited choices on menu, fillings are okay, pricey for the size, best eaten(hot), one of few knish vendors around, small batches made, old world flavor, local business. Final Thoughts: I was curious to try one out thinking back to the eat real festival with fond memories. I should’ve waited for someone to order one first just to see it. Being curious and again thinking back that what I have before I was underwhelmed by KK version. I see it as my fault for not inspecting the place out before making a decision. The bright side of this ordeal was that the filling was good and hot though. I feel that it just need volume more filling to bring it up a notch. This knish was pretty flat so I said forget about the picture others might get same idea, hoping next time around it will be better. I don’t blame them as last month event was rain out so today was their first time at FF event. Another chance, granted!
