We had an ocean lawn front room… and the view was amazing! The room itself was a bit rinky dinky, but the view made up for it. The ladies at the front desk were great, and overall customer service was very good. One night we decided to attend the«s’mores bonfire event» on the beach. It was pretty dark and we had a hard time finding it at first, so I was ready to head back to our room because I assumed that we had missed it. Then my husband noticed a flicker of light out in the distance, and as we approached our eyes adjusted in the dark to see a small bonfire with two or three people hovering around. I suddenly felt nervous that we were about to crash a small family gathering. There was a table a few feet away, but I couldn’t really make out what was on it since it was almost pitch black. I slowly walked by and asked the guy standing there about whether or not it was the s’mores event. He looked at me like I had two heads, and finally nodded. The only reason why I proceeded with so much caution was because it didn’t look at all like what I had imagined, and I didn’t want to crash someone’s private shindig. However the employee confirmed that this was indeed the bonfire event… so as I was about to pick up a skewer, I wanted to ask about payment(I specifically wanted to know if I should pay him directly or if they just charge it to the room). I asked: «So how does this work?» He sarcastically replied,“Well they’re s’mores. You take a stick, and put a marshmallow on it,” and he said it in the most d-bag way possible. UUUHHHHHH no sh*t Sherlock, I know what a s’more is, or else I wouldn’t have decided to attend this event. I would have let it go if he had been witty/funny about it, because this was obviously just some miscommunication, but he made a conscious decision to be a jerk. I was so turned off that I left. I thought that was really strange because everyone up until that point had been very nice. The next day my husband dropped his iPad in a really weird place under our patio, and the staff was extremely helpful; they even had a special gadget to fish it out. Like many of the other reviewers, I agree that this place is either hit or miss, and the employees can either be hot or cold.

After a miss communication with our week rental landlord, we were scrounging looking for a room for the night. We ended up booking a room here, right on the water, for $ 500 for the night. My husband and I figured, why not? Its the last day of vacation. Plus the landlords were giving us a couple hundred dollars to make up for the miscommunication. The beach view from our room was AMAZING. I can’t take anything away from that. We were also really happy with the customer service when checking in, because we briefly explained our situation to the woman at the front desk(we had TONS of food in our car) and she got us into our room relatively quickly and gave us a phone call to tell us our room was ready, which is not traditionally done. The room itself, as many others have said, is extremely outdated. The bathrooms were old, there was a random jacuzzi in the corner of our room, which was a nice perk but very odd. The fridge was all scratched and dented as well as the furniture. Although the view and beach were beautiful, I can’t say I would ever be willing to spend that much on a room again.

Ask for the second floor if you have a toddler. If you want a quiet view of the ocean and the boats, ask. Most all the rooms have great views of something. So. What else? Kids instructed activities all day long. My son caught a fish today! Great pools. My 4yo is having a great time. And so are we because we’re relaxed that he’s occupied. Our room has a shower/tub combo plus a jetted tub. Perfect! And we have a balcony. Food seems good so far no complaints. Also, the beach is steps away — super convenient. The breeze on the water is perfect and the spacious property allows for that breeze to travel making you feel comfortable in all areas.

Just had a great trip to The Red Jacket. The Oceanfront Room was really very nice. Stayed on the first floor so had access right off the deck to the beach. Room was spotless and nicely appointed. The bed was a little on the soft side but we slept great. The place was packed with a conference but we honestly did not hear any bothersome noises except the screen doors that make noise when they open and shut(we did have the air conditioning on though). Honestly people have said some negative things about this resort but it is truly one of the best on the Cape. You really can go there and never leave and it is so relaxing. They have 3 crystal clear pools, beautiful landscaping, helpful and friendly staff, kayak and jet ski rentals, the beach with plenty of comfortable chairs, loungers and umbrellas, great breakfast and Skippers for dinner just down the road. Our room had a fridge, coffee maker plus they serve free coffee in the lobby in the morning. I sat on the beach with my morning coffee, definitely worth the price of admission! Loved it and will return. I did take 1 star away because of the limited parking. The conference that was in took up all the available parking. At check in there were no parking places at the hotel. The person out front didn’t seem to have any solution but to tell me that there would be parking available after 5:30(it was 2:30 when we arrived). I did kind of make a stink at the front desk(I was paying over 300/night for the room) and they did radio the person out front to find a place down on the street. They followed me down the road and drove me back on their golf cart. There was available parking that night.

We come here every June as a family and simply love it! The house we rent is right on the ocean and it has been totally redone. Just perfect! The indoor pool and hot tub is great, especially on a rainy or extra hot day.

Location gets 5 stars but the resort gets 3 stars & I’m being nice. It is very dated & could use some renovations. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, I think I had a herd of elephants above me & could hear the man clear as day staying next to me. I went during April vacation & they had great activities for the kids with a fun magic show. The breakfast buffet was ok but the dining area is old and service was less than desirable. Would never pay the rates they ask for in the summertime.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My comforter had blood stains on it. Asked for a room for 5, and they gave me two full beds side by side and a closet with a bunk bed in it. Complete BS, and I suggest that none of you reading this look into Red Jacket Inn any further.

My boyfriend I were looking for a quick get away and found this place online. We came on labor day as the masses of people were leaving the cape and it was a great decision. Everyone is friendly, the resort has a great beach and pool and views of the river. We would certainly come here again!

Based on the 400+ per night price tag we were expecting a lot more, particularly with the outdated, dingy rooms. The first impression was not very welcoming. We arrived at 1:30(90 minutes prior to the 3 pm guaranteed checkin). When we asked how much longer it would be(so that we could plan to either wait in the small lobby or find something else to do) we were very rudely answered with the repetitive«guaranteed checkin is 3pm!» The beach is really nice as well as the staff. Definitely family friendly with a good amount of organized activities. Jet ski rentals are available right on site.

This resort is 3 stars at best and I’m being nice!!! The rooms are disgusting and old! The carpet and bedroom furniture is from the 1970 era… the hallways also have old and disgusting carpet. They need to do a total renovation on all the rooms. Don’t stay here if you expect a nice hotel room to sleep in. Also, Rooms are over $ 300 a night should be more like $ 99 a night for a motel type of room!

Location 5* best beach of all hotels of the red jacket chain. Beach is wide, deep, and less littered with shells. We caught many hermit crabs, regular crabs and small fish. Beautiful long stretch to take a relaxing walk. The hotel however is situated some distance from good eats. So we went out for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day looking for something to eat. Unilocal was very helpful in directing us. Indoor and outdoor pool 5* option to change up the scenery depending on mood and weather. No lifeguards on duty. No beach toys or swim vests available for loan. Indoor pool has ping pong table for fun. Ladies locker room was spacious, and nice with a comfortable shower, and bathroom. Large outdoor seating area shaded under a tent 5* for cfortable chairs, sound equipment and a bar. Could see this area turning into a little dinner and dance event. Restaurant: didn’t have lunch or dinner here but breakfast buffet was average 3*. Complimentary coffee with tea and flavored syrups outside restaurant every morning. There is a pub/bar next to but separate from the restaurant. Spa on site, aveda, didn’t try it out. Rooms: 4* very basic, clean. We had second floor overlooking the winding river, spectacular views. There is a balcony equipped with a lounge chair and regular chairs. No in room safe. No microwave. Flat screen TV with basic channels. Nicely sized fridge. Plenty of drawers. Cleaning service was the earliest we have ever had, every day. The bed was however somewhat uncomfortable and I think the mattresses were old. The bathroom was clean. Sink outside bathroom, basic and clean. Canoes and jet skis are available for rental(for a slightly expensive fee). Fishing poles available. Service: 4.5* pleasant helpful staff. Many looked like college kids who were capable and competent. Parking: 5* lots of parking available. Though we were told the resort was at 98% capacity, we never felt like the place was over crowded.

Received brochure with a discounted rate starting March 2, 2014 at Red Jacket Beach Resort. Called to make a reservation and agent refused to give discount stating it didn’t start till 4⁄27. Sounded like she did not believe me that my brochure stated otherwise. It is not the money, it is the principle. Not happy!

I have been going here since I was a kid. We used to go during April vacation, they always had activities for the kids. They have a huge indoor pool. We have since switched the time we go and we now go on Columbus Day weekend and rent one of the houses on the property. Columbus Day weekend they have tons of activities in town, including pumpkin painting, sandcastle contests, etc. Then the Red Jacket sponsors fireworks. They are awesome! They offer hot chocolate and everything!

This place is great. right on the beach… plus you have the option of both indoor & outdoor pools… fun activities for the kids… rooms are ok, average… really liked the outdoor balcony but the bathroom needed some TLC… overall I liked it but the only complaint is the Price… super pricy… i don’t think it is worth the cost of a room… but would consider going back if able to book room when prices are lower.

We haven’t stayed at the RJB in about 10 years. The good news — everything looks the same. The bad news — everything looks the same. It’s in a great location and has a very nice beach. The prices in May were very reasonable for an oceanfront room. The only issues are that it’s very out-dated and is in need on lots of upgrades — bathroom, furniture & bedding. The staff was friendly as always. We’ll be back.

We got married here and it was amazing. We became close with the staff who are so genuine and accommodating. The rooms are old but both rooms I stayed in had either an ocean front or river front view which was beautiful. Also the cottages on property are so cozy. Best food too!!! Will come back :)

I don’t get the hype. Location is good. Service was excellent. But the rooms were so old. The beds were so uncomfortable. Hubby and I could barely sleep. Expected a lot more at $ 200 a night.

Things I liked about Red Jacket Beach Resort! Clean spacious room(king bed size room) Gave me a second floor balcony as I requested in reservation BIG private beach includes umbrella/towels Jet ski rentals available on premises — just reserve one the day before(obviously) Friendly staff Not an uptight vibe even though it is family friendly, OK to walk around resort with beers/boat drinks(outdoor Bar till 3 then indoor bar till midnight) Mini Fridge in room Offered 15 min. massages for $ 20 outside in the afternoons Let us check in 1 hour early! Things I did not like about Red Jacket The«ocean view» I paid extra for was a view of weddings/wedding tent The dinner buffet was ehhhh, no late night food No coffee maker in room! No espresso(true to that whole area of Cape Cod) So would I go there again? Yes, just would not pay extra for ocean view. *update* contacted resort and told them about my view dilemma manager agreed and gave me a free night stay big thanks Red Jacket for making it right!!!

We had girls reunion on the Cape this weekend. Everyone rented rooms at the Red Jacket in S. Yarmouth. There were 3 rooms booked but we spent the bulk of the time(all 8 of us) in room 263. We had Happy Hour and watched the Kentucky Derby before heading to the lounge. The balcony is quite nice and roomy with two chairs and a chaise. The room affords lovely beach views. The rooms are rather small with two queen beds and modest typical hotel décor. The toilet room was small, no fan with the sink outside. It would be very cramped for 4 staying a week but for a weekend it was fine. There is a mini fridge as well. The staff were great. The small lounge downstairs was very nice. Jack, the bartender took great care of us. The indoor pool is massive with jacuzzi. We were out and about so didn’t use the property much. We plan on returning June 30 for the class of 79 reunion and then Derby weekend next year. There was a convention and wedding the same weekend so it was packed. This is not an upscale property more casual moderate. I’d go back for the beach any day. Lovely area.

Stayed here before in the fall for a weekend getaway a year or two ago and decided to come back for the Columbus Day weekend. If such a thing were possible, we enjoyed it even more than the last time we stayed! Rooms are impeccably neat and clean. Room had a refrigerator, perfect for storing drinks and food items. Just wish there were coffee makers in the room as well — however, there is free coffee in the lobby in the mornings so I just went to get our coffee and then enjoyed a leisurely cup out on the deck of the room. We stayed in a riverview room this time around(last time we stayed in an oceanfront) and loved the view from our room: watched the sun go down over the salt pond each night from the private deck where we sipped our evening cocktails. Grounds are immaculate and you are right on the ocean, which was the perfect spot for viewing the fireworks Sunday night during the Seaside Festival! Good breakfasts — we had a $ 75 resort credit so we had breakfast every day in their dining room. French toast was terrific, Belgian waffles the next day were even better, and my husband swore by the breakfast buffet(which had a terrific Quiche Lorraine the first morning we were there, so disappointed not to see it the next two mornings!). Staff was courteous and helpful throughtout our stay. Indoor pool and jacuzzi perfect if you want to swim but it’s a bit too cool to do so outside. Would most definitely stay here again. Hotel is very centrally located to everything in Yarmouth and Hyannis and the view, along with the price in the off season, make it worth it. Not far from anything on the Cape actually — our daytrip to Provincetown was one hour each way(though I suspect during the summer it takes a lot longer). Some visitors may find the rooms dated. While that may be somewhat true, I will take clean rooms, impeccable service, and beachfront location an day of the week. Location and price in the off season can’t be beat, along with the service, which is why they are getting 5 stars from me!
