The venue was nice — very large lawn area for seating. It was difficult to see, though, when arriving after dark. Sound was good given it was an outdoor venue. The amphitheater was raised above the vendor area, so you weren’t disturbed by the noise of people eating and buying food and drinks. I will give them props for having a bar serving liquor and wine in addition to the beer tent. The biggest downside was that all food and beverages were cash only. While I searched their website, it didn’t say that anywhere that I could find. They did have an ATM onsite, but who wants to pay those outrageous fees. Also, the vendors seemed to be more fair food type vendors than a real venue. Given the array of shows Snowden Grove has been attracting, I would think they would have a more permanent setup for vendors and a better array of options. Parking was a far walk the night I went due to rain making the grassy parking area next to the venue off limits. Getting in and out wasn’t bad. They kept the traffic moving.

My wife and I saw Hank Williams, Jr. here this past Friday night. The parking was $ 10 which I would consider reasonable. We arrived later than the posted concert starting time, but only had to walk 1 – 2 blocks to the entrance. The layout of the outdoor amphitheater was nice and spacious. All of the reserved seats except for those behind the sound/light equipment in the middle were great seats. There’s even a grassy area in the back where people were sitting in lawn chairs, and their view appeared to be good also. You need chairs because there is a fence separating this area from the reserved seats. The place had lots of food, drink, and beer stands available for purchasing refreshments. The only thing that seemed«off» was the inordinately long line at the men’s restroom, but it moved quickly so it wasn’t really an issue. We had a great time; got in quickly even though we were late; and then when we left we had no problems/traffic on the way out. All in all I would easily go watch another concert here.

We saw Dave Matthew’s Band on 05/20/2015 here and had an excellent time. We sat in the grassy area and would HIGHLY recommend bringing your own chairs or you will probably have an uncomfortable night. We had to stand the entire concert because the ground was wet and muddy. This resulted in a sore, uncomfortable show. Nevertheless, DMB was incredible and we know better for next time. Arrive with plenty of time because you will have a long walk ahead of you. Wear clothes and shoes that are good for said trek. Sound could’ve been better. Lines for beer were outrageous so we didn’t partake. Overall, could’ve been a better(much better) venue but I do know it could’ve been worse!

Went to the Avett Brothers concert. The band itself was absolutely amazing. Really high energy show and I can’t wait to see them again. As for Snowden Grove… No thanks. Sound was great actually but very disappointed in the crowd for the type of show that was in town. Indie shows need to be kept in Memphis where they will be sold out and respected.

I’ve seen a couple shows at Snowden Grove. I saw Wilco and the White Stripes. Both shows were great. Sound was great and seats were great. Only negatives I can think of is parking lot can get muddy and I wish they had a better selection of beer. I’ve never had lawn seats here but after being at the venue I would never get lawn seats for a show here.

I’m an avid concert goer and traveler. I attend concerts and events all over the country. This was the worst concert experience I’ve EVER had. My favorite band was playing here, and since I was already going to be in town from Phoenix for another event in Memphis, I decided to go. I have seen other concerts in the Memphis area at Mud Island, Liberty, Pyramid, New Daisy, Mid-South Coliseum, and Memphis in May Music Fest, but this was the first time at Snowden Grove. I checked out the website; it said show goes on rain or shine; that was a lie. Show was delayed over an hour due to storm, then when it poured, the show stopped by order of the Fire Marshal, and the concert was cut short, again ordered by the Fire Marshal. I know d@mn well concerts go on in rain and storms: Memphis in May Music Fest, KC Spirit Music Fest, just two events I’ve attended in pouring rain thunder storms. Also, I paid $ 84.00 for two tickets center stage third row. The band called everyone up front to the stage, so people who paid $ 10.00 ended up with the same view – actually better view than us after the Fire Marshal closed the amphitheater for rain and then let the hoard back in, and we lost our good spot right in front center stage. Plus the wall in front of the stage is too tall to see over and not to mention crawling with bugs. Luckily, we looked up my favorite band and the same tour(which was previously not listed for the band, because the listed performance for them in my area was a Tempe Music Fest) is now showing a date in Phoenix. Which will have to be better than Snowden Grove in Mississippi. And finally, the staff: not all, but some of the staff rudely yelled at people to leave with unnecessary attitude and tones. But security couldn’t keep people from smoking, so smoke was overwhelming. All in all, horrible place, horrible experience, but I still love Everclear, my favorite band, and look forward to seeing them in Phoenix.

First time for a concert here last night. Our tickets were for seats behind the sound guys which wouldn’t be a problem but they had a metal roof over their equipment that was about four feet straight up in our view. I asked the usher if there was anyway to move us and she sent us to the ticket office. We explained everything to the woman at the window and she asked a young woman next to her for help and we had to explain everything again. The girl raised her voice and says we should have know before we bought the tickets and that it was our problem not hers. I bought the tickets online and there was nothing anywhere about an obstructive view. She called me a liar and yelled some more. We went back, blood pressure up and sat through the first two bands not being able to see a thing. The camera guy was set up right next to the sound guys and everyone in that section had been upgraded so we asked if it was ok to sit in those seats because even though we still couldn’t see everything at least we could see the middle of the stage. The camera guy and sound guys were super polite and gave us bottled water and even offered my wife a rain jacket as it began to pour. Hats off to those guys for turning what started out as a terrible evening into a really good night. One of the event staff did come by and apologize for girls unprofessional behavior, that was really nice of him and the only reason I’m giving them two stars. I may go back to an event here but I will buy my tickets from another source.

I’ve been going to concerts at Snowden Grove since before they built the amphitheater. I can’t say that I’ve ever been to one that I didn’t truly enjoy. They host a variety of musicians from new favorites like Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert, to country legends like Hank Jr and Merle, no name up and comers, bands like Widespread Panic, and even Christian bands. On Thursdays during the summer months, Kix106 sponsors free concerts at Snowden. Snowden Grove Amphitheater is an outdoor venue, a little bigger than Mud Island, nestled in trees, instead of on the river. It’s great seeing the constant upgrades they make to this venue. It went from lawn chairs to stadium seating and from port-a-potties to nice clean bathrooms with ample stalls. The food and beer vendors seem to be multiplying as well. It’s very clean and safe. SHPD has a precinct right across from it, and there is plenty of security at the events. I’ve never witnessed combusted traffic around any events at Snowden. I can’t attest to the sound issues at the Dave Matthews concert because I wasn’t there. I can attest to the sound issues at the concert the night before DMB, even though I wasn’t there either. I live in one of the neighborhoods by Snowden(close enough that I got the munchies when Willie Nelson played there) and my house vibrated through the entire concert the night before DMB played. It was so bad when it first started that I walked outside to lay into the person thumping their base right in front of my house, only to find out it was the concert. It was still doing that when I went to bed. An educated guess is that there were numerous complaints which led to an unreasonably quiet concert the next night. It’s typically not like that. I can usually hear the music at a reasonable level from my yard. If there’s an act coming that you’ve been dying to see, or a free concert on a night that you don’t have plans, I would definitely recommend a visit to Snowden Grove Amphitheater. They also host Springfest, the carnival, concerts, and BBQ competition that takes place every year in April, which is well worth a visit.

I agree with the other two reviews regarding the Dave Matthews show on 4⁄27. Worst concert experience ever! Venue was too crowded and the sound was terrible!

i agree with the others who have reviewed for the recent DMB concert. HORRIBLEVENUE! placed all patrons is danger by overselling seats! had the severe weather actually approached snowden grove… well, that would have been a disaster! lines for the bathroom & beer were easily 40−60minutes, and the acoustics were THEWORST i’ve ever experienced. i’ve had better experiences at mud-fest in may music festival(memphis in may music festival)! i barely heard the concert… in fact our group commented on how strange it was to be able to carry on a «normal» conversation at concert! then DMB had to compete with the county fair noise/music…shame on you snowden grove!

Was very excited to see DMB. Unfortunately, a few things got in the way. We were general admission and it was an absolute mud pit. This I could deal with. What I couldn’t deal with were the smokers who were allowed to light up anywhere their little heart desired. It was so mad we moved down to stand on the ramp for the remainder of the concert. We couldn’t see anything but the sound was better and no smokers. Overall, it made me realize that I will not be back. I’ll travel for a concert before I go back to Snowden Grove.

I saw Wilco at Snowden Grove last night, my first visit to this relatively new live music venue. I had such a good time listening to one of my favorite bands that it’s tough for me to suss out my actual take on the venue itself. To help, I decided to split my personality into Wilco Fanboy Dave(WFD) and Devil’s Advocate Dave(DAD). Be patient with me: WFD: I love Snowden Grove! Wilco was freakin’ awesome! DAD: Wilco, schmilco. Why in the world could not MEMPHIS build a place like that? Oh wait, they have – it’s called Mud Island, and people don’t go there. Anyway, I’ve got reservations about so many things… I could go on and on and on… WFD: Don’t be such a stick in the mud. DAD: Speaking of mud, what about that«parking lot,» eh? Now I know why it’s called«Snowden Grove»…you literally parked in the woods. On the grass. And mud. Good thing the ghost of the hurricane stayed mainly south and west of here… and YIKES. Ten bucks to park? I hate it here. WFD: Well… true. You do have a couple of points there. But the SOUND was great! DAD: Sure it was… that’s what third-row seats will get ya. But you got pretty wet, didn’t you? WFD: Sure I did. But I didn’t care… I was too into the show to notice. Plus, we had ponchos! DAD: Cheese dip could not possibly have made you feel drier. WFD: No, no… pOnchos, not PAnchos. DAD: Whatever. My point is that even your precious third-row seats were uncovered… fundamental problem in my eyes. By comparison, the(former) Starwood in Nashville and(former) Hi-Fi Buys in Atlanta at least have covered seating for the, ahem, Big Spenders. WFD: Sure… but if it had been a sterry night, we would never have noticed… DAD: «Starry,» you mean? I think you have a spelling reputation to protect. And how about those bathrooms? WFD: What bathrooms? DAD: Exactly. Ten bucks to park, no overhead covering, AND a short row of Johnny-on-the Jobs… or Johnnys-on-the-Job…either way, First Class, baby, First Class. WFD: «Either Way»…hey, nice Wilco reference! DAD: Purely coincidental. And don’t change the subject… the potties, remember? WFD: So they’re still probably working on that. In the meantime, what did you expect – the Hotty Toddy Potties from the Olé Miss Grove? I bet they get the restroom situation worked out. DAD: But they didn’t have it «worked out» by last night. And that’s when YOU were there, so that’s all you can judge it by. WFD: Good point. But… man, it WAS a great show, though, wasn’t it? DAD: At least that’s what you said. WFD: But YOU liked the show, too, right? DAD: Of course I did. Wilco was freakin’ awesome. But don’t tell anyone I said that… I have a reputation to protect, too.
