This is my MOST favorite restaurant. Hands down. We discovered this gem about 5 years ago through an internet search of restaurants in Southern Pines. We were not disappointed! We live an hour away, but make a special trip every few months specifically to come to Rhett’s! The food is fresh and local and I have tried so many things over the years, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I must say I am partial to the tomato sandwich that is offered in the summertime! It’s a traditional tomato sandwich, just amped up and delicious. The grass-fed burger with pimento cheese is a close runner up. And don’t get me started on the desserts! I wish I could give this place 10 stars!

What a nice venue and fantastic food. I recommend the spicy hoe cakes! The Hoe cakes are done perfect, not dry, but nice and wet. They are spicy, moist and will keep you coming back over and over again! The ambiance is also perfect ! The water fountain is beautiful and the patio is decorated with a couple of giant bushes. Overall the stage is set for a great date night!

First of all the food is exquisite. Truly is fine fair in an elegant dining experience. Tonight we start the meal, sitting in the patio courtyard, as a gentle rain falls. You stay dry and there is just a hint of coolness in the air that promos an order of their Incomparable Lobster Bisque. More than yummy. Followed by a fresh salad. All of their ingredients are fresh and prepared as such. The lemon rosemary dressing on the salad is to die for. Then I did the heart of ribeye at my desired medium well. Brags to the chef and to Stephanie my service person she was right on with suggestions. Of course the most important reason for eating here as there are many fine dining experiences in the Sandhills but these fine folks are sponsors of the arts and most noteworthy Judson Theater Company and the production of Harvey. Glad to support those who support the arts and get an outstanding meal. Here’s to good eating.

Very quaint, comfortable and friendly restaurant. The owner was kind enough to show me around, tell the history of the historic building and all about the area. We enjoyed our food, local fruits and veggies, hormone free, grass fed meats. Definitely a great place to enjoy indoors or outside. They also have some local music! Wonderful service, try the mac and cheese, its terrific!

Did someone say quinoa? OMG this quinoa veggy pie is a taste bonanza! And healthy too, Dear God it’s a home run. I advise running to Rhett’s the next time your eating out. The best food around hands down!!!

Very slow service. Small kids menu. Expensive for portion size /ingredients used. I had the apple, bacon, and blue cheese salad with chicken. Very little bacon, very little blue cheese. The blue cheese dressing had a few, flavorless blue cheese chunks. I likely would not return.

Ate lunch here with a bunch of guys that probably didn’t fit in for the atmosphere. It definitely has more of a golfers wives spot while they are off golfing. That say the food was good. I would come back but probably more so with my wife.

Rhett’s is an awesome place! I’ve been here twice and each time the staff is very friendly and polite. The food is 5 stars and is a great value in downtown southern pines. I would highly recommend this place.

Don’t deny yourself the great food at Rhett’s. Beautiful outdoor setting with music and a casual fun atmosphere. Potions are perfect and the value is tremendous. Great take on chicken cordon bleu. The wine list is full of big reds at crazy low prices. Very Charleston like feel.

The collard green spring rolls were amazing! I had the strawberry and goat cheese salad and The shrimp and grits as my dinner. They were excellent. We went early because we had children with us and the server went out of her way to make sure that the kids meals were brought first. Highly recommend the bourbon mashed sweet potatoes.

Only improved with their move. Great variety on their menu, delicious food, and love that they use local farmers products. Very local feel, they tend to remember you when you return which is also very nice. Service score cost them the last star we would have given. We often get the same incredibly loud waitress who also interrupts people talking to ask if their food is good, etc. At times the conversation at our table had to stop because she was speaking so loudly to the neighboring table that we couldn’t hear each other. Funny for us, but would be annoying over a serious or romantic dinner. Rest of the staff is great! Just wanted to let you know what you’re getting into!

Today was my 3rd visit to Rhett’s. The best experience was my first when they were at the previous location… Today, I ordered the avocado chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries– to go. It was disappointing, the bread was dry and so was the chicken. There weren’t any napkins or silverware in the bag either. The service has been hit or miss. Today the lady on the phone was great and super nice when I picked up my food. The previous visit, we had a horrible server, she even interrupted the chef when he came by to welcome us. He is always very nice, I will say that. What I can’t say is that I’ll be back…

Loved the artichoke and kale dip! Our server was super helpful in clarifying all vegetarian items(which there are quite a few)…I also love how they use compostable/tree-free«to-go» boxes. Will definitely come back.

They have done a nice job with this place. Major kudos for the following: — Making use of the beautiful courtyard for outdoor seating(they have indoor seating, too). — Having live music on the weekends! — Using local ingredients when possible. — Having North Carolina beers and a full bar. The food usually solid or better. Although not quite in the league of Wolcott’s or Warrens or Ashten’s for fine cuisine, it’s not too far off. As we get more nice evenings the fall will bring, the courtyard dining will provide an excellent experience. The service is a bit inconsistent, but usually good.

One of my favorite lunch spots in So. Pines. Great local specials, perfect sized portions, salads are great with homemade dressings. Never a bad meal.

Not bad. The only reason I don’t rate them higher is the lack of vegetarian options. I liked the atmosphere(although it can get noisy inside if there is a boisterous crowd like the last time I was there) and the staff is always pleasant. I’d probably have to see to an interesting veggie item on the specials list to get me to go back.

Good but just not great in this town flush with excellent establishments. I have returned to this restaurant three times and each time my wife and I walk away wanting. I usually yield to her on the taste and quality of the food but in this case I’ll throw in my two cents. I don’t like the food mix or the recipes. We will not be going back unless it is at the insistence of another couple or family. One note, the rooms are all very hard walled and thus sound is obnoxious. You don’t feel like a dinner party but rather a compilation of dinner parties all thrust into the same space, sharing the same conversations. I wouldn’t recommend this for a large party if possible unless you are the loudest people where ever you go.

Was here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with this Southern Pines gem. Upon reviewing the menu, I knew I had a challenge because everything on the menu sounded awesome. I finally decided on the Black Bean Burger. It was delish!!! All their food is organic and most of it locally sourced. Had no issues whatsoever with service but it was lunch and only about half full. Debbie was our server and she was excellent. Wine list is good and very reasonably priced. Browsed the dinner menu and it makes me want to come back for dinner. They also have a small plate menu and many gluten free items.

My girlfriend and I were headed to the Sweet Basil just around the corner that is easily 4 stars for lunch but we had to park in front of Rhett’s because the street was so busy. We had heard about Rhett’s through a friend of a friend and decided to try it out. We were absolutely blown away by everything from the environment to the meal. We had the lobster bisque, the recommemded mac/cheese with grilled chicken, and the crabwich. We can hardly wait to try them out for dinner!!! Bridget was especially helpful and the cook even came out to greet us and wish us a Happy Holiday. I love this place.

OMG this place is horrendous! We went in this past Friday the 5th of October with 8 guys. Mind you I am not complaining about the waitress rather the owner of the place. I don’t care if you just moved… I don’t care if you didn’t expect the crowds to be so big… you own a restaurant… you are in the service business… if you fail and you failed miserably on Friday night you need to go out and show your face to the paying customers and not let your wait staff take the blame for everything. I felt bad for them. 1. We walked in and said we had a reservation through Opentable. He looked at us like well we don’t check that and it hasn’t arrived so you will have to wait. Luckily a part at the bar opened up so we sat down. 2. We ordered wine… they didn’t have enough wine glasses so we drank out of martini glasses. We also waited over a half hour for our bottles because the waitress couldn’t find a bottle opener. 3. Once we had the wine we ordered like 8 apps. The wine was good by the way. 4. The apps took literally over an hour to arrive. The place was so backed up with food orders other people were constantly asking. I even saw two people return the food back because it was under cooked. 5. Once we got our apps… it was quite amazing. Too bad they never took our main order. 6. We told our waitress to forget taking the main order and she even admitted not to order because the kitchen was so backed up. 7. We ended up leaving and eating at Sonic. Again the owner or manager that night needs to be front and center for situations like this. This is inexcusable. Obviously this place has great food but for this night I can’t give this place a good rating.
