Great service! Good selection of beer and drinks. We sat at the bar and loved being served by Jessica and Jackie… So friendly even though they were working their butts off! Food was amazing… Shepard’s pie was out of this world! Stop by if u ever have a chance!

Recently went for their promotional Curry night. Food was warm at best and service slow despite not being very busy. The promotional curry nights card said free appetizer if come the first week, free appetizer and dessert if come the third week and a $ 25 gift certificate of go the fourth week. Friend went all four weeks and received gift certificate but not appetizers or dessert. When asked Manager about it he was very rude and dismissive. If they are doing promotions to increase business then should promise what put on advertisement. If you want great food and a place you feel like family in Southern Pines recommend Curt’s Cuchina. Expect better food, service and friendly environment for the prices you pay at the SF.

This place is pretty cool. We got there right before it opened for brunch but they seated us anyway. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and it was soooo amazing! Their prices are a little on the spendy side but it’s worth the price. Definitely a place to check out.

We’ve had great meals in the past here but recently things seem to have gone downhill. My concerns are mostly around the bar. The good news is SF has the best selection of craft beers of any restaurant in the area. However I ordered a beer that came with an actual dead fly floating in it(sorry no pic — I was too shocked to take one). Beer was replaced but no apologies from the bartender and I had to ask the waiter to remove the charge(just for the beer mind you) from our tab when he presented the check. Really? Same bartender made me a Rob Roy on a previous visit with no bitters. This isn’t a tough drink to make. When I asked about bitters the response was something like«Well if you want some…» I guess that’s like being surprised that someone wants cheese on a pizza in my book. It’s been several months since we’ve eaten there and l don’t see us going back any time soon.

I love the food at the sly fox. We Usually come here once a month for dinner or brunch. The service has not been great the last few times, otherwise this would be 4 stars.

I wish this place was better, I really do. I’m half British and I would love a place to go that had good English food. The décor is pretty British seeming but a bit over the top on the Union Jacks, etc. We visited early evening, right before the dinner rush and they really didn’t seem ready to serve even though they were open since 11:30am. When you walk in the first thing you notice is that they don’t have a hostess. If this was a pub in England it would totally make sense. Most places over there you seat yourself and give your order for food and drinks at the bar. In the USA, for a place that calls itself a «gastropub» it falls short of the standard of service you would expect. We had fun watching the wait stuff jump for the door when the someone yelled«code blue» as new customers walked in. I guess that was their way of letting all the staff know they had to go seat someone. We also enjoyed watching the person who seemed to be the manager or owner yelling at the staff to clean up the place and get the back ready for service. I’ll admit it’s probably something that needs to be said but it shouldn’t be done in such a way that the customers get included in the general cloud of yelling. I told my wife I felt like we should get up and help clean as well before the manager’s ire was directed at us. The yelling didn’t really help them get our appetizer out any quicker. The wait was about 45 minutes from the time we ordered until the time it arrived. I will admit the food when it did arrive was decent. Not great, just decent. The fish and chips were pretty good for the USA but no where close to British standards. To sum up, this place is ok as a place to grab a beer but I’d stay away from the restaurant side, as they seem to have issues on the service side and the food, for me at least, is meh!

Well Sly Fox I will not be coming back for a while until you fix the staff. Also, food has dramatically gone down in quality.

Wow, an extremely disappointing visit this time. Came for dinner, selections were what we had expected based on lunch last year. Service very sloppy, one of our Yorkshire Pudding sliders was served late, explanation was that the kitchen was busy making more pastry. When it finally arrived,(after finishing everything else), the pastry puffs were cold. Soup lukewarm, salad kind of wilted. Burger seemed to be the only thing that was done right. No explanation for featured beer and ales. Felt kind of forgotten in the back room. Would have been more forgiving if the server was honest, seemed like he was just winging it. Kind of leery about returning.

I was in town for a wedding and decided to check out Sly Fox based on Unilocal reviews. The service was a little slow, but the food was good. We ordered goat cheese risotto balls which were delicious. I’d definitely recommend trying them. We also ordered a French onion soup and lamb burger that were good as well. On Saturdays they only serve the dinner menu all day which can be a little pricey for lunch. Their beers are also pretty pricey, $ 7 for«cheap beer»

Indian food is my favorite and this is as good as it gets in SoPines! Also, I can’t resist the Sheep in Fox Clothing burger. Everything is delish and the atmosphere is relaxing.

My favorite pub in town. I usually get the Fried Oyster Salad. Never disappointed. Good draft beer selection and will occasionally have a sour ale or root beer on tap. Nice patio but could use some more lighting.

If you love craft beer this is your place. Its a watering whole with a aussey infuence. The food is better than good. Harty and imaginative I would say. Burger is probably best in town. Wait staff is top notch. A must if you come to Pinehurst Southern Pines area.

Should be called The Sly Fly — the amount of fruit flies that populate the bar area is a sure sign that bar sanitation is a long forgotten notion at this establishment. YUCK!

We walked in on a very unbusy Friday night. We stood for ten minutes at the door waiting to be sat when a very put-out young hostess decided it was time to work and walked us into the bar. This is the end of the story, because for another 15 minutes we sat, stared at the beer flowing around us as we were ignored. By the bartender, by a very«busy» looking waiter and waitress… we sat there… ignored. So we stood up and left… they suck…

I visited The Sly Fox during the US Men’s Open. The services was incredible slow and our car was broken into during our meal. According to local police, this was the sixth break in in two months and the restaurant refuses to put lights in the parking lot or allow a patrol car to be stationed outside. For travelers that are interested in staying safe, steer clear.

Great burgers, good beer, good atmosphere. Can’t really ask for more. They actually make a rare burger here too(I am more of a medium rare guy, but it is still respectable). The only issue I have is when I came there for the first time, I had the Marsala(?). I can’t quite remember the name, it was an Indian-based dish that is next to the butter chicken on the menu. The white cream sauce came out AFTER I finished the food… Food is very good, but I usually like all my condiments with the food. The portion was also kinda small for it. So personally, I would stick with their other dishes for that price. Come here for the beer!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was hoping for excellent and that’s what I got: excellent service and excellent food. I have food allergies and let our server know and she came back with a list(too long, if you ask me. All of my hopefuls were dashed away quickly) and suggested one of their curries. I wanted to stay away from them and eat some English fare but the fact that there is a section of the menu dedicated to the historical impact of India REALLY impressed me. As did the curry. I got the lamb curry and it was just okay by itself but once the trio of mango chutney, yogurt and carrot salad came out, it ramped it up. I even asked for more spice and was given a sample of ghost pepper oil to put on top. That shut me up. My friend had the roast chicken and it was perfectly cooked, juicy, and I wish I’d have ordered that instead! He ate my curry’s naan and said it was nearly one of the best he’s ever had. It was garlicky and soft and blistery, just how it should be. This is a pub, so the beer selection should be great, right? It is. A little on the pricey side, but nothing exorbitant. The wine selection is also varied and certainly worth a look. I’d like to eat here again, but given the amount of things on the menu that could kill me(including rice & cheese balls topped with a cashew-laden garnish of pesto), I won’t be back. But you should go if you’re in the area and want a non-pretentious, nice place to eat and drink. Don’t forget to check out the patio – it’s beautiful with a fountain and flower-covered pergolas.
