After having fantastic meals and great the Royal Oak and DTW airport locations, this was a major disappointment. The appetisers(meatballs & risotto balls) were excellent, so 2 stars. Both pizzas were overloaded with sauce and cheese to the point that the bottom of the crust was gooey. Beyond that we had to repeatedly ask for water refills, for Parmesan, etc. It’s really sad when the airport location offers far better service and food quality.

Bigalora is a hidden gem in the area. They are doing everything right, even beyond pizza. The restaurant is very inviting, with a fun, modern atmosphere. With an outdoor patio area, this is a great place for lunch on a nice spring/summer day. Their Bigalora Chop salad is very finely chopped so everything is mixed together to perfection. This salad is light and refreshing and does not skimp on the toppings. It puts chopped salads at other restaurants to shame! As for the pizza, my go to is the Wood Roasted Vegetable pizza. The super thin crust is topped with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Wood roasted vegetables added on top make this pizza deliciously flavorful. To add to all of this, the wait staff is consistently friendly and attentive. They definitely aim to please here and are doing a great job. Bigalora is definitely a place to check out, and you will likely be back for more!

I’m a major pizza snob, and Bigalora definitely does a great job here. I don’t normally get takeout from here, but if we’re wanting to have a sit down meal with pizza and drink, Bigalora is on the list. The farm egg pizza is one of my favorites, very simple & basic but definitely delicious. The dock prosciutto is always a go to for us. For apps I would always recommend the caprese — they use a very good quality buffalo mozzarella that sells me on this every time.

Went here for lunch during the week to try something new in the area and was for the most part fairly disappointed. There are no lunch menu options(same items, smaller portions, cheaper prices) so that was really discouraging. Also everything is ala cart so your bill can get rather large. For me all I had was a water, the Strozzapreti Norcina pasta, and a side salad and my bill was just shy of $ 30 after the tip. That is a bit much just for lunch especially when the food was just okay. In my opinion the pasta dish looked like an italian version of chili mac if that makes sense. It was a bit sloppy and soupy and didn’t look like it fit what the restaurant was offering. It supposedly had black truffles and none were to be found. Also you have to ask for bread so there is no waste which I am fine with and the waitress said it would be a few minutes because it is made to order. What we got was a small hunk of cold day old bread for the two of us to split. This was made to order? To coin a phrase from Unilocal!,methinks not. The wood fired pizzas looked good but you can get a similar product(and quality too mind you) from MOD for half the price. I don’t think I will be going back to this place unless I get some buy one get one coupon or see a solid Groupon deal for them.

Was here with a large family group of 16. We were guests so I can’t comment on price. We had several appetizers. The roasted brussell sprouts were so good, as were the meatballs. The roasted wings were just okay. Others raved about the risotto balls. Salads were good. We had the chopped as well as the garden. The pizzas are the very thin crusts we ordered a variety and the were very good. The least favorite was the vegetarian, you have to really love olives. The home sausage on the pizzas was great. Several including the kids had pasta. Everyone seemed happy with the food and we were very full when we left.

We came with another couple on a Friday night at 7pm. It was very busy, and there was a 15 – 20 minute wait. My friend had only been here during weekday lunches with the usual business suit crowd and was surprised by the family-friendly atmosphere. There were many tables around us with babies/toddlers that were crying and generally causing a raucous which started off the dining experience on the wrong foot. I chose to eat here because of the many gluten free options they have(although $ 4 extra charge for gf crust is a bit much). The food here was okay. Nothing to write home about. There are better pizza places that offer gf crust(like Vinsetta Garage in Detroit). I had the Wood Roasted Vegetables pizza with gf crust($ 16.50) and the Wood Roasted Beets salad($ 7.50). The gf crust was decent, but the pizza was mostly big chunks of red onion. I wish they had incorporated more of the other vegetables. The salad was good, but the beets didn’t seem roasted, more like out of a can. Overall, it’s overpriced for what you get. The service was good though. Our waitress was quick to refill our waters, and the food came out pretty quickly.

Excellent! I’m always looking for the pizza I had in Sorrento this past summer and Bigalora comes so very close! Loved it! And Gelato was awesome!

I’m willing to take the time and drive out to pickup their pizza when I’m tired of the mainstream franchises. In those places you’ll get exactly the same flavor in every pizza. Here, you can plan to taste ingredients and the slight singe of the dough from the oven. I’m a mushroom man, so when I see Funghi pizza on the menu, it was going to be my first choice. These aren’t the shrooms out of a can or the standard white mushrooms. It’s a mushroom ragu with goat cheese, thyme, and house blend mozzarella. It’s a nice fresh thin crust and the goat cheese adds a richness and creaminess to each slice. The Fingerling Potatoe pizza came with gorgonzola, artichoke, rosemary, and house blend mozzarella. It has a completely different flavor profile. While the Funghi pizza was subtle and smooth, this one was stronger and bold. I was surprised the gorgonzola didn’t over power the potatoes. We also tried their POTATOCROQUETTE which was panko breaded, scallions, provolone, and roasted pepper aioli. I thought it was ok, but not better than mediocre unfortunately. I thought the flavors blanded each other out. It also may have been because I did a carryout, so it wasn’t fresh from the kitchen. It was a pretty good carryout experience and look forward to trying other options on the menu.

We went there on a Saturday night for drinks and Pizza. Unfortunately for us there were 2 screaming babies in the restaurant. I could swear the sign didn’t say ‘Chuck E Cheese’. The wait staff was rude and standoffish for no reason I could tell. A very unpleasant experience. The pizza was 6/10, drinks 7/10, wait staff 1⁄10.

My neighborhood«go to» for delicious pizza, pasta + salads. The staff is on the whole excellent; bartenders always terrific, and 90% of the things service is outstanding. The food had remained consistently great since the opening 5 yrs ago. Pricey but worth it!

Ok pizza, real italian style. The place is nice, the service is good. The dough has the right consistency and is cooked at the right temperature, sometimes its a little too sour(well, the biga). The«mozzarella» they use has a lot of room for improvement they should use the real one or at least a better quality one. Anyway, one of the few places in metro Detroit that can claim that the pizza is made in real italian fashion. That’s a big deal. Please use better mozzarella. Recommended.

This used to be one of my favorite places, but then they made a bunch of menu changes. Asparagus and speck pizza is no longer available, and the caprese is now made with sun dried tomatoes(ick, really?). The only remaining saving grace is the peanut brittle sundae.

Bigalora is on my lunchtime rotation for frequently visited restaurants. This is a nice enough place to visit with coworkers and other business associates, but not particularly fancy. The pizzas and pastas are good and everything is relatively inexpensive. If you are going there with multiple people, I recommend half of the party order pizza and the other half order pasta. Then share the dishes family style with the table. This works perfectly. My favorite is the Bacco sausage pizza. But I also like many of the other red pizzas as well. I would recommend this place to others.

Delicious food for the area. I had a business dinner recently and shared the fried calamari as an appetizer. Nice and tender calamari with a light and crispy coating… simple yet beautiful. My main course was the fettuccine funghi and I added meatballs. The pasta was awesome, loaded with sautéed mushrooms! But the meatballs… bleh! It tasted like dog food, smelled like it, too. Just not a pleasant taste. Nice service, great food(minus the meatballs), attractive décor, plenty of parking.

I liked that they have clear vegan and vegetarian options, and the pizza is very good. However, it’s a little pricey for going out to lunch at work. The service was a little slow near the end, when you’re on lunch that’s always a little stressful. Restaurants in this stretch of Northwestern Hwy need to be more aware of their patrons normally having an hour to get to and from work and eat. I want to go back, but I’m waiting for a time like date night rather than lunch.

Still the great pizza it was before expansion into RO. I tried this locale upon its first month open. Thin crust at its best. The biga makes the crust stand out. Toppings top notch. Love the sausage. Cheese has a subtle unique quality. A touch of char on some crust as every great wood oven pizza should have. Lovely outdoor seating. Quaint bar and good selection. Menu has some nice Italian food choices. Owner runs perennial restaurant of the year Bacco, so you know the food quality and taste are stand out. A fun thing for the carryout is they do not cut the pizza and include a simple yet highly effective pizza cutter. So make your own size and slice direction! Unique pizza box design. Not the generic type. Carryout pizza only comes in one size(12″). They used to do two when they first opened but hve changed up. I have no problem paying for quality ingredients like this. If you eat inside, pizza takes like 90 seconds to cook. No lie. It comes up quickly.

I love the pizza here, I come here with work for lunch & they used to have a great lunch special but I don’t think they do anymore which is kind of a bummer. I have also ordered carry out a couple of times & been in for dinner & I’d say that maybe once I thought the pizza left something to be desired but even then it was still really darn good. I have had 2 different pizzas there & my fave is the fire roasted veggie with pepperoni… they had me at zucchini. They offer so many different varieties of pizza, some that sound so unappealing to my picky taste buds but my co-workers & friends rave about them so I highly recommend it! I’m dying to get in & see what they have for their brunch menu.

Meh My wife and I ate there last night. The food was decent, but not for the price. We have eaten there in the past… Caprese salad wasn’t very good. Just threw some basil, cheese and tomatoes in a plate. No balsamic reduction Pizza was soggy on bottom… which isn’t really good on a thin crust pizza Probably won’t return very soon

This place is dangerous, and it’s even more dangerous considering how close it is to my work, but I’m not complaining because now I can get my Neapolitan pizza fix anytime! :) The first time I came here was during lunch on a Monday with 2 other people. My first Neapolitan pizza experience here in Michigan wasn’t so great, so I was a little hesitant to try their pizzas, even though that’s what they are known for. My colleagues reassured me that they were amazing and addicting, so I relaxed my shoulders, took a look at the menu, and went with a pizza. :) I’m a huge fan of anything sausage and red sauce, so naturally, I gravitated to the Bacco Sausage pizza($ 13.50). After a few minutes, out came a drool-worthy melted house blend of mozzarella, red peppers, roasted onions, and fiery glorious house made sausage on a pillowy and slightly charred crust. I was excited! I was even more excited that the carrot ginger soup paired beautifully with it. It was silky and smooth, and the puréed consistency was perfect — not too thick, and not the least bit watery. The only thing I would have liked was a more defining taste and punch of ginger. The second time I ordered their Duck Prosciutto pizza($ 15.50). I liked it, but it definitely needed more duck and less prosciutto. The crust, sauce, and cheese blend was delicious as the first time, but I felt a bit stiffed because there was hardly any duck meat, and the amount that was on there was on the drier side. If I had to pick between this and the Bacco Sausage, I would pick the latter. Portion sizes I feel are more than generous, and very fair with the price. You might cringe at the thought of paying over $ 10 for a 10″ pizza, but the house made fresh ingredients more than validate the price increase. I’ll take that any day. Lunch time is very busy but they get you in and out within 1:15, and that is with a larger party. The second time I went with a party of 6, and there were appetizers and sides involved too. I’d say they are very efficient and the quality is not sacrificed! Overall, I’d highly recommend coming here if you’re in the mood for a contemporary take on Neapolitan pizza. I haven’t been here for other than lunch, but would imagine that dinner time is even better. Don’t be fooled with the parking though — there is plenty around the back and adjacent to the front entrance! I’ll be back!

Really good, really simple, fairly fast. Goid for lunch or dinner and casual enough for kids, even if they don’t let them play with the dough anymore. The pizza is really outstanding, and the concept has been copied by a few places now.

I had been to this location only one other time, and my pizza was a bit charred/burnt which I wasn’t a fan of — this was a long time ago, though. Since then, I’ve been to the Royal Oak location multiple times, but never back to this one, until tonight. My date and I took in a movie at the Maple, then headed here for pizza. I told him to download the Reapso app(only on iOS, unfortunately, and I have an Android) and we got 50% off our pizza — there are a bunch of coupons to choose from, too. We got the heirloom carrots to start($ 7 or so), which were delicious. Goat cheese, peanuts, balsamic, and differently colored carrots(orange, yellow, etc). He was thinking of the Bacco pizza(sausage + onions) and the veggie, so we ended up splitting those. We got there around 8pm and it was pretty quiet, which was nice. Great, attentive service. Only reason this place doesn’t get 5⁄5 stars from me is it’s prices — it’s comparable to Bastone’s in RO, but Bastone’s does a ½ off pizza happy hour too(3−6pm every day, I believe). $ 7 for carrots is a bit expensive but they were delicious. I’ll probably be back at some point, too :).

This is the first time I have visited Pizza Bigalora and had been looking forward to it. A group of seven of us went out for a team lunch and we were all in jovial moods — looking forward to the event. The food was great — we were all very happy with our many different selections from the Pesto Genovese White Pizza, Formagii e Salumi plates to the Wood-Fired Chicken salad. The food came out quickly — an important feature during a limited lunch break and we all felt the ingredients were high-quality and well-made. The reason for the 3-stars is for the service. Pretty much everyone at the table had been a server at some point in our lives so we all understand the job. We were a fun table looking to engage with our server. However, what we got was ‘Forest’ a very, very rude and snarky server who seemed beyond annoyed with us — I think just from the fact that we existed. We were your normal table: more water please, can we have separate checks and some more bread with our Formagii e Salumi plate(meat and cheese platter really needs bread to eat it with). What we got back were comments like this from Forest: Q. We asked ‘which type of Salumi was this one on the plate?‘ A: ‘You don’t know what you ordered?‘ Q: Can we have more water please? A: **literally** — ‘got shushed” by Forest who then walked away. Q: Can we have separate checks please?(Asked before we ordered) A: ‘ssiigghhh’…that’s really a lot more trouble for me Q: Can we have more bread for the Formagii e Salumi plate? A: ‘Tsk…there are 2 more pieces right here’. ** Those were small pieces, gone quickly, and no more was ever brought The snarky attitude goes on and on. We even tried one more last ditch effort to work with him by asking at the end of our meal in a very nice and supportive way ‘are you having a stressful day today Forest’? A: No, not at all — it’s just the separate checks is really a pain for me and ‘not helping’. At this point, he was taking up the checks with our payment methods. One person grabbed another person’s to pay for his lunch as a nice gesture. That was NOT well-received by Forest who then complained that we were making these difficult again by now having to run the credit card two times for this new ‘situation’. The last straw was when he grabbed my check for $ 13.25 with my payment of a $ 20 bill and asked me — twice — if ‘I needed change’. Really? So with all that nice care he took of us he is now expecting me to give him a 50% tip? We were really beside ourselves with this level of service but, in the end, we had no choice but to share this specific incident. I did let the hostess know on the way out of our disappointment at being treated so rudely and she was very understanding and apologized and said she would let the manager know. This isn’t a deal-breaker as the food was really good — so we will give it another try. But if we get Forests’ table again we will ‘Run from Forest — Run’…

Same pizza, mostly the same menu as Pizzera Biga, just a rebranding. I tried my first white pizza topped with artichoke hearts, tomato, asparagus, garlic, and olive oil. It’s supposed to be a vegan option but thankfully the waitress pointed that out and suggested I had cheese(nothing against vegans). It was super good and hard to stop eating! My dinner mates also enjoyed their meals — the roasted veggie pie and a strawberry salad. The veggie pie was a little heavy on the onion for her liking but nothing that couldn’t be resolved by picking off. I really like this place and they used to have great happy hour & lunch deals so I usually come around that time. The ambience is exactly the same as it has been but the staff working on the night we were there seemed a bit unenergized and just going thru the motions. They seemed a bit short handed and/or experiencing some communication problems.

A friend and I came in the late evening on a Friday. They were not very busy, just a few tables. We had the roasted beet salad and the margherita pizza. The beet salad was great: arugula, goat cheese, walnuts and a vinaigrette all in the right proportion. I would order it again. The pizzas all come as a small, six slice pie. Their pizza is ultra thin, Roma style, and of course, wood fired. I liked the small amount of fire char on the crust. While I did enjoy it, I did think the buffalo cheese was sparse(even by Italian standards). We also shared a scoop of chocolate gelato, which was creamy and rich. We had good service and the food came out quickly(the salad before the pizza). The waiter was friendly and took time with his tables, checked in to see how we were doing. Granted they were not very busy, but he did not have to take the time that he did. We did not try any appetizers/small plates but several sounded good. Based on this visit I would go back and tried some of the small plates.
