Gator’s Fish and Chicken

Downgraded from 5 to 1 stars. They’ve gone so far downhill I do not think they can be salvaged.
You are putting your health at risk eating here. They do not date anything! I was given rancid cole slaw during one visit. The next visit my chicken had a ‘rancid’ smell after being fried. Everyone knows what old chicken smells like, right? On todays visit my catfish was clear and stinky and once again my cole slaw appeared to be old. I’ve gotten sick at least twice eating here.
Why do I come back? Well to be honest I used to eat here 2 – 3 times a week and stopped. Now I check back every other month to see if they’ve improved. Each time it seems a little worse than the previous visit. I think I’ve given them all of the chances I can and will be holding on to my money going forward.

odd to start a review with this but, they have the best coleslaw around. most places just make coleslaw as some throw away side. gators says, «eat my slaw». the roasted chicken is great, get a side of spicy garlic sauce to dip it in. we ordered a side of mac n cheese, collard greens and roasted potatoes last time i wouldn’t pass on any of them again, but the mac n cheese wasn’t the best i have ever had. the collard greens were really amazing and the potatoes were good. the dinner rolls were gross, but who eats those anyway? we also ordered a rib snack, which was huge. the ribs are very fall off the bone and the bbq sauce is good. not the best i ever had, but good.
really good place for a great carry out dinner.

I go there every change I get! Excellent ribs and broasted potatoes. The colseslaw is amazing, and the fish (by the pound) is excellent. You wouldn’t think that the food is any good given its location, but fear not: the cook knows what he’s doing, and carry out orders are usually quick.
