I started going to this store last May I walked to the cash register and the clerk reprimanded me severely for not standing in back of the sign the checkout wait is very long. Also I tried to use my wife credit card and the clerk says I have to get managers approval the manager said I could not use my wife’s card even through we have the same last name. i was very irate .most of the employees here are very Ghetto for lack of a better word. I will not return here.

Good selection of items. The staff is not helpful. Also the bathrooms have no toilet paper you have to ask for it at the front! So weird. Good for a run through unless you have to use the restroom.

This location was so ridiculous in how it was presented. I first walked into to hear a static filled christian music station, which is very off-putting. I couldn’t imagine someone walking in of different religion. As I am walking through the aisles, the clothing is not in order whatsoever. Colors are all over the place which made it hard to track down an item that I was looking for. Then came the service. I go to check out, 5 of us are waiting in line. 4 registers exist in this location with all 4 employees at them but only 1 was accepting customers which didn’t make any sense. The other employees were also in line buying stuff and jumping the line, which was very unprofessional. Then when it was my turn, she answered a PERSONAL phone call on the store phone and was talking to her boyfriend the whole time through my checkout. Very unsatisfied with my experience at this location.

$ 40 – 50 for a lamp? A used, old lamp? No… just no. I stopped in here after going to Grace Centers of Hope thrift store, and found a super cute lamp for $ 5.99, so I thought I’d check out Sal Arm too. They had a lot more to chose from, but the prices were seriously outrageous. The lowest priced lamp I found at this location was $ 25.99… It wasn’t like these were some great lamps either… That is too darn much for a used/resale store. Come on Sal Arm… give us a break would ya!

This place used to be one of my go-to thrift stores, but then it moved to a new location and the prices shot up like crazy. I’m just not willing to pay $ 50 or more for a second hand jacket.

Though not my favorite Salvation Army store(that would be the Royal Oakl location), this place is great. The staff is friendly, and one of the employees actually allowed me to purchase an item that was being shown on display which I always thought was a no-no. There are some gems here, just be patient and take a look around. And if you come on one of their half-off sale days, bring some patience and you will definitely find some great great scores here.

Okay, Unilocalers, I must first level with you. I am not, have never been, and probably never will be a fan of resale shops. Yes, I will be the first to admit that there are really good finds in many of them. Yes, I will be the first to admit that they sell many good things at relatively little cost. Yes, I will even admit that thrifting can be a bit fun and nostalgic at the same time. By the same token, going to a thrift store simply is not my cup of tea. Needless to say, in an effort to kill time, I was near this Salvation Army, and I decided to pay them a visit. I believe this was my first time at that location in the past 5 years. I found quite a few deals back then, and I thought for sure I could repeat that feat, considering I needed some new work clothes, anyways. Now, like all thrift stores, each department is arranged by color of the merchandise, not the size(one of my main issues with resale shops). However, everything in this store was on the rack, and almost perfectly arranged. Needless to say, as I started finding my sizes, I found a few good pieces for work. Additionally, they had all blue tag clothing 5 for $ 5 that day, so I got an even better deal(considering many items were priced at a few cents shy of a good clearance sale at some retailers). Now, if you are going during a somewhat busy time and might need a shopping cart, be prepared to carry your finds for a while. Shopping carts are rather scarce in there. Also, the checkout line can present quite a wait, especially if you’re behind people who have cartfuls to take to the register(there were only two cashier ladies there that Saturday, and I lucked up in terms of the line). Other than that, I would recommend anyone into thrifting to at least give this Salvation Army a try.
