It’s pretty good business strategy that the SideBar is there to hold the overflow of people waiting for a seat and Beans and Cornbread, allowing B&C to make more money when people buy drinks while waiting. But, it is so narrow, many people will still end up bumping into you(by accident) when you’re just trying to have a drink at the mini high-tops. Since it’s so busy, you’ll have to go up to the bar to order. This place is definitely not for people who have claustrophobia.

Definitely a cool spot! Bartenders and manager are friendly and attentive — and the food is on point! Stopped by on a business trip and will DEFINITELY be back next time I’m in town.

Rib tips, salmon croquets, collard greens, corn bread, peach cobbler, and wine ALL at happy hour prices… need I say more!!! Food was delicious and service was impeccable. I’ll definitely be returning.

I had a drink here with a buddy and the ambiance was great. Smooth music, nice intimate environment so easy to approach others, and great drink selection. It’s a small space — one of those rectangular bars where you have the bar, the stools, and some seating along the walls parallel to it. Unless you are there for a happy hour or special, expect prices on the steep side. Drinks are definitely made strong and with higher end product though. Management is cool and courteous, so this makes for a real smooth after-work spot, especially for nearby Southfield heads. Being literally connected to Beans & Cornbread Soulfood Bistro is definitely a perk. Not too difficult to take a date from the bar, over to dinner, and hopefully back to your place after!

Because I absolutely love Beans and Cornbread I knew I would at least«like» Sidebar. The name plays like a double-ontondruh for me in so many ways. It’s a cool place with cool people. It is small but as long as you can grab a seat at the bar or at the tables near the back your good! The prices are great, especially in this economy! I was there for a First Friday event. The martini’s were $ 3 and whole wings were $ 1 buck. Now that’s wat’s up! The wait staff are pretty friendly and the music was mid 90’s hip hop; u know — the real stuff! Great environment to stop by after work or for happy hour!

SideBar is literally a sidebar next to Beans and Cornbread. They must have just opened up because the manager came by and introduced himself to me and gave me a complimentary cocktail voucher. The place is kind of small and intimate, definitely nice for a happy hour. The martini’s are supposed to be awesome, although all I had was a glass of wine. The staff was very pleasant and the prices were reasonable. I don’t know too many martini bars in the area, so I would definitely come back here again.
