Well, it was a four the first time because everything was heavily discounted because they were running a promotion. We came back and the promotion was over and we didn’t enjoy it as much. The reason being… it’s not worth the price. Nothing about the sushi is great or stands out. It is simply average and overpriced for the quality. I don’t think we will be returning.

Just a good Korean place with great Korean food and sushi. What I particularly like about it is it is more accessible than some of the more obvious choices in Novi, Royal Oak, West Bloomfield, Clawson, Farmington Hills or wherever. Well worth the trip, great food, great staff, and you can hit up the Korean market while you’re there!

It was our first time trying Korean food and definitely we came to the right place. Great service, they walked us through the menu and explained everything. The food was beyond great… Tasty, good portions and flavorful! Make sure you ask as many questions as you want to make the perfect choice. Totally recommended!

Only 4 stars due to only 2nd time here BUT… this food is excellent. Fresh and homemade sides are the best Korean sides I’ve ever had. While I can’t speak for the sushi I’m over the top with their Authentic Korean dishes. Bibimbap last time… ate all of it and every morsel of the side dishes. I’m currently halfway through the stew I ordered and had to write a review immediately. Ok. gotta finish this delicious meal. Oh yeah… the only other customers are Korean. Yep… always a good sign.

First time here, the restaurant is next to a korean market. The decore inside impressed me. Its pretty spacious and has grills at some tables and vents on top. I expected it to be alot smaller. The server were very friendly and accommodating. We got a mix of sushi and korean food. I enjoyed their kimchi stew N came in a large bowl, compared to to other korean place. Also had the pork belly & squid in spicy sauce. We got the 1 person size, which is propotional. I forgot what the price was. Thought it was good also. Sushi came w a free roll after spending $ 15 worth of sushi. My friend enjoyed the sushi, i thought it was decent and on the warmer side but it might just be me. I liked their cali roll and tuna roll, but wasnt as chilled as i usually had it in the past, but still good . Overall it was a good experience and good food, id have to try their other stuff like kalbi. I felt like this place would have more customers, but because it is an area where kinda random to have a plaza, people dont know about this place. Hope they get more ppl to come in, it was empty when i went. And pretty random area for a plaza as a whole

My fiancé and I dined here a few months ago and we did not have a good experience. For a Friday night, the place was empty. We ordered various sushi rolls and none of them stood out as amazing. The rolls seemed small in size and not stuffed enough with fish and the rice was too sticky that when I picked up a few of my rolls, they fell apart on the plate. I’ve ate at numerous sushi restaurants in the metro Detroit area and this one is on the bottom of my list. I am thoroughly surprised about all the good reviews Sushi N Grill has as I had a totally different experience. I can’t say much about the service because we were the only people in the restaurant the entire time we were there. I would not recommend this place.

Excellent nicely presented fresh Sushi. Picked multiple selections and they all were fantastic. Owner and staff very friendly. Gave us soup and salad without ordering it. Yogurt drink for dessert a nice touch.

If you are in the area(or not — it’s worth the trip!), Sushi N Grill is a great restaurant to check out, especially if you like Korean food! We did not try the grilled menu this time, but everything we ordered was awesome! The mandoo(fried dumplings) were nice and crunchy, the kimchi jeon(savory pancake) was huge, the bipbimbap(rice bowl) was served in a hot stone bowl and was delicious. We also ordered a spicy seafood noodle soup(huge portion, lots of mussels!) and thinly sliced pork and kimchi and rice, and spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. The meal came with banchan(free sides — kimchi, radish, potato, and broccoli) and our hostess was so sweet and attentive. The KPOP music drove my husband nuts LOL but I loved it. Overall the whole experience was great and I definitely recommend this restaurant. We will most definitely be back!

I was there with my friends while visiting Livonia, and he recommended Sushi N Grill for the Korean bbq. First impression was the restaurant is clean and everything looks new that led me to walk in without hesitance. The ambients are nice and quiet that nothing disturbed me. However, we ordered Korean bbq with Sundubu soup. I didn’t expect on the cuisine, because I visited many Korean bbq restaurant located in Michigan, but none of them impressed me. I might have sensitive taste, but what can I say? I’m Korean and love Korean bbq. However, this place’s bbq stunned my mouth! the meats are fresh and doesn’t look old, because once you taste it, you will know. It doesn’t have any disgusting bloody taste after you chew it, and also the side dishes taste good and seems they use fresh produces. I love this place, the price is decent than any other Korean bbq restaurant. Definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to try out or love Korean food :)

I’m not sure what all the good reviews are for but I definitely cannot give this place a mere 2 stars even if someone payed me to… I came here the other day hoping to grab a nice clean lunch however it was horrendous. The service seemed very odd or awkward I must say, it seems like a nice enough place to at least hire some waitresses or waiters that have common sense or know what I’m talking about. I don’t want to be so harsh on the service since the food is definitely more important. After one of the most awkward times of my life, I was given some rolls and a spicy authentic kimchi soup. I was excited till I tasted everything, the rolls were«okay», I could taste the frozen tuna while I bit down on my nigri, and the soup was extremely bland. To make things short and stop blabbering on; it’s just another Korean restaurant that happened to open in Southfield this time, nothing exciting, bland, dis colored.

Small place. Quite. And the sushi is amazing. Came here few times and every time it’s on point. Randomly found this place and when ever I am in southfield and craving sushi I always come here. They staff is helpful on explaining things, and accommodating the menu to make some non-veg things veg as well. Quick service, never busy. Def recommend this place to everyone.

FOOD — probably the best Korean food in the area. I have been to bibimbob and around 7 – 8 other Korean restaurants in Novi area and Ann Arbor area, and their food is THEBEST quality and quantity. All their side dishes are fresh and delicious. All food doesnt seem to have artificial ingredients in it because I dont get thirsty eating their food unlike many other asian restaurants near by. I recommend trying pork belly. If you have space for more food try don katsu(pork cutlet), galbi(boneless rib), and kimchi soup. SERVICE — Their service is excellent as well. Quick and nice. AMBIACE — The place is clean and quiet. It is a good place to take kids, bring family, and a great place for groups. OVERALL — This restaurant is a MUST if you are near by the area. I was in love with this place after one visit and now I come here few times a week.

Worse loosely rolled sushi i’ve ever tasted. The restaurant was empty and i went there at about 8pm to order sushi. So im very much sure the fish and shrimp they used with the sushi were old because they tasted stale. The guy making my sushi literally took 30 minutes to make a dragon roll, 1 ngiri and a spicy california. THIRTYMINUTES. 1 gave it a one star because the waitresses were very pleasant.

I think it’s a hit and miss. I’ve been there 4 times now since they’ve opened and this last time I went they were much better than the previous 3 times. It’s nice and spacious, not loud, not cold, not hot and have a pretty decent sized menu to suit whatever your needs are. I can’t be entirely sure but it seems like it’s a family establishment and the son does everything front of house, the father the sushi and the mother in the kitchen for the Korean food. They do not add any msg(there may be some already in the sauces and pastes that they use — that really can’t be avoided) and so some of the food, particularly the stews, can be less flavorful than one might be used to but you can be sure that it is healthier for you and will leave you less parched than some of the other ‘tastier’ establishments. With that said, the kimchi-jeyook-bokkeum which is my favorite dish of all time was made right this time. The previous twice I had ordered it they made it with less ripened kimchi which makes the dish much less delicious. So this time it was great :) It is noteworthy that service was a little slow because it’s a one man serving team — or at least it was the most recent time I went. So if you’re a stickler for speedy service, while he gives great service, keep that in mind.
