I took my vacuum in for repair and they never fixed it, they actually still may have it. After months of weekly calls to see what the status of the repair. They would just tell me they were still waiting for a part for months. This process took so long I just ended up giving up and buying a new vacuum cleaner. The time and effort it took to constantly have to contact them for status updates on my repair that was never completed just wasn’t worth the effort after a few months. This took place a year or two ago but I just remembered my lost vacuum cleaner and wanted to warn anyone who considers patronizing this business.

Yeah, I’m with Rk K. on his question to Jason; I would have asked the mover for the receipt from B&D because it sounds like they didn’t even take it there. And if they did, Jason should have insisted they take it back to be fixed under warranty or just grabbed the paperwork from the movers and done it himself. And I don’t see your review of the mover? But I digress… Because the Banks Vacuum store chain in metro Detroit is so dishonest, I was forced to search outside of the area for service for our Royal Everlast upright vac(fantastic vac for plush carpets). B&D is an authorized Royal warranty service center so I took it to them when the height adjustment control broke. They assessed the repair within two days and let me know the needed parts were ordered, estimating about a week for shipment. They called about a week later to let me know the vac was ready and I paid a small amount for a new belt and another non-covered part. It continues to work well years later. All in all, a simple transaction, handled very professionally. These folks definitely deserve the support of the Unilocal community. The store is located on the West side of Fort so if you’re Northbound, you’ll have to make a Michigan left to get there. If you have something heavy to carry in park on the side street(Argyle). There is lot on the other side of Argyle if you prefer.

I am not sure about the reviewer who blames B&D for the vacuum that broke during a move… could it be the movers handling it badly? I for one have been a B&D customer for 8 years and have sent several friends to them. They are real professionals who know their products. Matt is third generation owner of this family business and unlike Walmart or Sears etc. where the salesmen know not much about the vacuum cleaners, these guys do only vacuums and mine has been going strong for 8+ years. Always helpful, professional and courteous. Good old fashioned customer service that is rare these days.

Unfortunately my vacuum broke as part of my move to Ann Arbor. A wheel broke and the hose cracked. Seemed like a simple fix, but our moving company took it here and it came back worse. The wheel is fine but the hose has been stretched out beyond belief. It doesn’t even hook in properly anymore it just sags and the vacuum trips over it even when not using the hose part at all. And to top it off, it’s definitely not«like new» as the suction is far worse than before the move. Shoddy job means shoddy company. Stay away
