Grand Hardware used to be the place to go to for courteous and helpful service. Plus, they always had what you needed or would order it for you.
Went there today for a small part. They didn’t have it which is no big deal, but the young man waiting on me was very rude. He doesn’t have to worry about me bothering him again because I will never darken their door again.
What happened to the old school guys that went out of their way to be helpful?

This was such a great old school hardware store. It has changed hands a few years back. With hard to find items and knowledgeable staff. Now it’s a big box store mentality with no hard to find items it use to have and staff plus management that doesn’t care about its customers.

I used to get stuff here occasionally but this will be my last time. After being followed around like i was going to rob the place the place they still didnt have what i wanted. How can you carry hundreds of grade 8 bolts but no washers or nuts for them. The place is stocked like an inner city party store. Where am i supposed to go for grade 8 downriver.
The owner is really rude and shouldnt own a biisness. Im done.

Used to visit this store often for items that are not usually carried at other hardware stores. Lately tho, they havenT had even common items — and the last time i went in looking for Root Kill (i wanted a larger bottle than the 2lb other hardware stores carry) and they had only the 2lb size of Root Kill, but larger sized bottles of other chemicals right next to the Root Kill so i asked about them. The clerk really didnT want to help me, just shrugged and said «Everything we have is on the shelf» — «yes, but are they similar in potency?» Clerk knew nothing… It’s not like I hold the employees accountable to know everything about each product but this guy was annoyed with my inquiries. i left and went to Home Depot — right? — why should i support my local hardware if they act like i am bothering them with my questions?

This used to be the place to go for hard to find items in the Downriver area. The store changed hands a few years ago, and began the descent downhill. I stopped in today to buy a tap and die for a very common Metric size, and the owner was not enthusiastic to help. I pushed the issue and eventually figured out what I needed, and then found that he was out of stock. Sorry! Not even an offer to order it. And here we hold up these independent stores as saints in our Big Box world… See ya!
