After my dental insurance had changed and my daughter’s dentist was no longer in network, I was SO nervous to switch. The idea of taking a 3 year old to the dentist frightens me and after she had loved her previous dentist, I wondered if I should have just bit the bullet and paid the 50% because they were out of network. I researched and found The Little Tooth Company in Southington. I figured if became really nervous or acared, then the cost at her previous provider was worth it to me. Scheduling an exam was a breeze and I took her on a Tuesday morning at 9. The waiting room is exceptionally clean and germ-free. No toys, a large wall-mounted flat screen and 2 playstation consoles mounted against an adjacent wall. The staff is incredibly nice. Whitney was friendly and helpful. Heidi, the hygienist, soon came out and introduced herself. She was very patient and sweet with my apprehensive toddler. However, my daughter willingly went back into the room as I followed. Heidi explained everything in detail. Soon after, Dr. Jay came in and said hello. He even went so far as to ask my daughter if she wanted to know anything about her teeth. She sat on my lap in the chair and was pretty calm as the hygienist cleaned her teeth and did a fluoride treatment. After every«big step» my daughter was given a prize — a toothbrush, a balloon, toothpaste and a golden coin to put in the prize machine at the end of her visit. She had a wonderful experience and my fears were put to rest when we were leaving. Dr. Jay and his staff are wonderful. They have private exam rooms but they also have a large area across the hallway that has multiple chairs in one area — a «common» cleaning area to make kids feel safe and secure. Overall, I am very impressed with the location, the environment and the professionalism of my daughter’s new dentist. I would recommend him to anyone. He is great with kids and is patient, perhaps the most important when dealing with children.
