What a wonderful little bakery to be found in Southport, NC! Burney’s isn’t your typical bakery as their thing is fresh croissants, filled with various fillings, and then topped with a light glaze! I sampled their Crème Cheese Croissants which didn’t disappoint! A very generous filling of cream cheese in a warm croissant hit the spot! They also sell delicious whole cakes as well! We bought a Key Lime layer cake to celebrate a birthday while in town. The layer cake generously served a dozen people and was incredibly light and not overpowering in key lime flavor! Priced at just $ 18, you’ll not get anything this good at a bakery without paying double that easily! Way to go Burney’s for doing it right and keeping it affordable!

No pictures because I couldn’t wait to eat it all… lol Seriously you can’t go wrong with anything you purchase here. The employees were very nice as well. Great prices!!! The German chocolate cake is to die for!!! Wanted to add that their mini cannoli is amazing & all the donuts I’ve tried are so fresh & soft, pure bliss!!!

Came here for breakfast and it was great! Fast service and the staff was very polite while we decided what we wanted! The pastries were amazing! We got about 8 pastries and it was only about $ 14.00! Would definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming here for years and the quality is the same. Great as usual and a must stop place. You need to go early on the weekend because the donuts sell out. Not to worry, just get the croissants which are equally good. They melt in your mouth. This place is a gold mine. The staff are very very friendly. If someone complains about the service you must wonder if they missed their morning meds. Just goes to show you can’t please everybody. I can’t wait to come back.

No customer service. Icing is from a big tub. It is just ok. I complained when I got my husband’s birthday cake from them. I went back and said the icing did not taste home made and that is when she showed me the tub.

This used to be a great bakery, with exceptional customer service. Like so many other businesses the customer seems to have become the«enemy» in the eyes of the staff. I pre-ordered(and pre paid) for 8 dozen filled croissants. I specifically told them that they were to go to different places so pack them with assorted flavors in each box. This totaled over $ 50 so not a small order for a bakery item. I was disappointed to learn that they no longer allowed you to pick up early if order was pre-paid but decided to just be a few minutes late to treat my crew. However they forgot to mention that they decided to open on their own time by some random wall clock. FIVE minutes late by my cell phone and were rude. The 8 doz. croissants were crammed into 3 boxes, not separated as I asked. Not evenly divided either but around five dozen +, in one box, 2 dozen + in another and 6? by themselves? REALLY. When I questioned the girl behind the counter she snapped the count was right I was holding up HER counter space! I had to try to even out the croissants myself at the counter with a little wax paper square. They were placed in the boxes with all the care of a dump truck. The outside of the boxes were dirty. I think they placed the boxes on the floor and THREW the croissants at them from across the room. The filling was squashing out everywhere. Not what I expected for $ 50 of breakfast treats. They have a sign they are going to remodel. I hope they remodel their attitude. I won’t be back.

Having been to a few different«gourmet» donut shops popping up all over NJ, I was excited to give the cronuts(croissant + donut) at Burney’s a try. While I will say they were delicious(c’mon it’s a fried croissant!), I have to say they were not unique or spectacular(it’s filled fried dough). The kids enjoyed the ice cream(no chocolate based flavors???). They had a decent selection of pastries still, near closing time. The girl working the counter wasn’t the friendliest or most helpful person I’ve ever dealt with. Overall, just unremarkable bakery /ice cream shop.

Yummy cheesecake! We went in for ice cream — which I did get — but my husband got a raspberry lemon cheesecake. It had fun layers and a really great graham cracker crust. So good! The ice cream was ok — Hershey’s, but I’m not complaining.

Amazing, Yummy, spectacular, one of a kind! Stopped in for breakfast while visiting Southport and we are so glad we did. I can’t even remember all that we got but we tried several different donutty, cronut, turnover things. Each treat was better than the next. We took a to-go box and had some late night snacks that were still fresh and delicious. You must visit this bakery! If I lived in Southport I would weigh 900lbs because I would eat here so often.

People line up for hours outside of Ansel’s NY bakery for one of their legendary cronuts. They claim to be the inventor but I’m pretty sure it was Burney’s. Skip the lines, skip the big attitude go to Burney’s and get the best ever cronut right in Southport. Their tarts are also good. We just ordered a peanut butter and chocolate cake for a birthday party. I bet that will be good too.

There is something about an old-school bakery. This is it. We got a four-layer yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and it had just the right amount and consistency of frosting. Then there are the«cronuts»…filled with all manner of things: Jams, chocolate, custard, apple pie filling, cream cheese, and then glazed. Buy a dozen so you can try them all and then go back the next day for more of your favorites(full disclosure: that’s what we did).

Burneys is unmatched. I can’t find the right word for it so SUBLIME will have to do. Every time I come to Oak Island, it is my first stop. You think I’m kidding. I will throw a two year old toddler tantrum if I haven’t been to Burneys within 20 minutes of arrival to this beautiful vacation spot. The young high school aged girls they have working there are grouchy and never give you a smile but I honestly could give a hoot– those CROISSANTS send you to a state of nirvana.

Stopped by after dinner and filled a box up full of goodies. Immediately when you walk in you smell all of the goodness in air. So we immediately went over to the cases and started picking out about 8 different items. The two ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. Most of the items were good, but with any pastries, it’s a hit or miss depending upon the day and when it was made. Loved the apple turnover. The brownies were ok. With that said, they have a good selection of treats and their prices are really fair. The place also has ice cream.

Great place!(Sometimes the desserts are a bit too sugary but that’s not that big of a deal.)

Oh my! Donuts made from Croissants! So so good. We each had a raspberry filled glazed. I had Mocha iced coffee. Just right on a warm spring day! We had never been to Burney’s and was offered a free sample. Love it!

Being more of a doughnut man, I was skeptical when my wife brought out a dozen croissants. I didn’t even try one until the next day and… ***WOW*** This is serious good eatin’. And a good price as well. Thank you guys!

I love LOVELOVE this place. Delicious! This place is seriously dangerous, you could just keep eating the glazed croissants! There are so many flavor options, chocolate was a definite favorite. I ended up taking some home on my way back to MD. My husband enjoyed the bavarian crème long john and the brownie was delicious too. I plan on making this a go to place when I visit the area. Service was friendly and helpful.

Love these croissants melt in your mouth deliciousness, especially the cream cheese filled one! If only they would do part cream cheese and part berry combo, then I would. It have to shove 2 in my mouth at the same time!
