Very cute diner, super sweet people and yummy food. Quick service. Great stop for breakfast. I recommend the omelet.

My family (and extended family) try to go to Southport once a year. One of the highlights of our vacation is to stop by and eat at Eric’s. The food is great and the company is even better. If you are not a regular, don’t worry, by the time you leave you will feel like you have met old friends.

Great place for breakfast! The staff was warm and friendly. Eric came by to talk with us. Food was excellent. I highly recommend.

Best burgers this side of the Cape Fear River!
Also goes for everything Eric prepares. He cares and loves it!
Go there, eat and enjoy! I do love the breakfast sandwiches also. The atmosphere is all about cars and sports, but mostly cars!

As a recent California transplant, I drove down from Wilmington to try Eric’s burgers. I had researched earlier places nearby and narrowed it down to either Melvin’s (Elizabethtown — where I had eaten once before) or Eric’s place — a first-​timer. Boy did I ‘nail it’. What a mouthwatering, scrumptious, overflowing, finger-​licking burger piled with Chili, slaw, cheese, on-​top of the very best of a grill-​crusted, hand-​formed patty. To add to the ambience of the 50s, down-​home diner environment is man’s best friend Eric himself at the grill, greeting every customer — coming and going. In closing I’ll use the parlance of the owner himself (evidently an avid fisherman); This place is off the hook, on the hook, around the hook — do yourself a favor and get hook! Bob

Any podunk restaurant that refuses breakfast service at 1030 doesn’t deserve to be rated above 1 star. Looked like a dump.

You want a great old time hamburger, this is the place for you. This is the classic greasy burger joint

Open for breakfast and lunch. I really wish they were opened for dinner too because that’s always when I want one of their burgers! Good food at a good price. Be sure to bring cash. No cards accepted.

One of the best place around. I own a beach house at oak island and every trip down here; i come here at least twice. Eric is extremely friendly and loves feeding off of customers energy. Bacon egg and cheese with a side of grits, everytime cant go wrong!!!

This place was amazing! Not only is the food fresh, not frozen, but Eric is a great guy! He checked in on us and everyone around us. All the locals know him and he connects with everyone. Our burgers were juicy and delicious. You can’t beat a wax wrapped burger! We live in VA, but if we lived here, this would be our dinner spot at least once a week!

Breakfast was Good. My husband’s only complaint was that they use American cheese in the omelet. The grits were really good which is rare to find in a restaurant. Nice, quaint, hometown restaurant. A little pricey, it cost $ 27 for three of us to eat breakfast.

Ate here for lunch and had a cheeseburger and fries. Hubby had a double cheeseburger and fries.
I am a sucker for crinkle fries, so these were a winner. They could have been fried for another minute and they would have been perfect. Burgers were good and for the price this beats eating at a fast food joint. You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready so your food is hot and cooked to order. Staff was friendly and greeted new customers and regulars with the same friendly banter. Give this place a try if you are in Southport!

Great atmosphere and great breakfast food. We ate lettuce and tomato sandwiches with grits, no butter, and it was a healthy and delicious breakfast! Come visit Eric who is a gracious host and eat in this quaint small beach town atmosphere.

WOW. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! My husband and I ordered double cheeseburgers and were not expecting the amount of food we got for the price! Our burgers were HUGE! And the price is perfect! You have got to eat here! We will definitely remember this place!

Eric (the owner) is an extremely nice person to customers. He is however not so nice to his employees. I have seen him on numerous occasions yell at his staff in front of the restaurant. I am not sure if this sets a good example or not.
Aside from that, the food is pretty good here. I have come in for breakfast (one of the only restaurants open at 5:00 am) and lunch. I have had burgers, hot dogs, fries and everything has been good.
FYI, this restaurant is cash-​only.

This is the place to go in Southport if you want a burger. Yes, they serve plenty of good food, but Eric’s burgers are the standout item here.

This place is your perfect American diner experience. Such cool automobile and sports chachkies, best burgers/​hotdogs. And the owner Eric is just as nice as can be. Comes by every time we are there and says «hi and how is everything»

My friends and I ate here 3 times on our vacation. This place was simply amazing all the workers were so sweet to us and learned our names from the first visit and came and talked to us each time we came. The food was spectacular and my friends and I have talked about how we had a place like this where we live. We can’t wait to come back and visit! Thank you for the pleasant visits.

All the way with slaw is the only way to go. Great burgers and great people, a must if you are in Southport.
