We found this place on our way to get Chinese and decided to change it up. New to the Pyramid shopping center, this place offers huge smothered sweet pork burritos and fajita tacos with fresh cilantro. I liken it to Qdoba but they one up it by offering fresh made tortillas from dough pressed while you watch on a big heat iron. The service is a little rough as it looks like they are hitting that normal staffing issue that always happens a little ways in. The manager rocked it though and I am sure she will trim the fat. Excellent food, fast(and yes calorie rich) and great variety for a line kitchen.

So good. Everything is made fresh and fast. The employees are super friendly and the place is always clean. I go there often but I always get the chicken burrito with the green chili sauce even though everything looks really good. Meals are about 10 $ a plate but the servings are large.

Food is always prepared freshly in front of you. with super friendly staff. Sweet pork is their only meat I get cuz it’s the best. Also the honey habanero salsa is bomb, but it’s not too spicy. I take my family here about once a week and they never disappoint.

If I could give this location of Costa Vida 0 stars I would. I went in today and they were so unprepared and it was a slow night. They were out of everything! I ordered a steak burrito and when they went to put the steak in the burrito the girl behind the counter said oh this is to pink, which it was, the guy who made it said«ugh that’s fine». She made more steak and when they went to put it on the burrito she told her coworker it was to pink and he still put it on there. We had to repeat our order multiple times to them and the crew was more worried about socializing than their job. Everyone I interacted with was rude and acting like we were bugging them. I have NEVER had a problem at the other location in Reno.

Everything was really good! Enjoyed the chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. Hubby had a steak burrito that he enjoyed.

HORRIBLESERVICE!!! Its friday feb 13th and we are here with the kids and waited in line for 25 minutes for the lady to forget our order THREE times!!! How do you screw up 2 salads and a cheese quesadilla order… The staff was all screwing off, not changing gloves after handling RAWMEAT… «I dont have steak, we are out if that» blah blah blah… Completely unprofessional and rude. Then they turned down TWELVE people!!! Because they were out of meat!!! WEWILLNOTBERETURNINGHERE

My boyfriend and I had to check this place out to see how it compares to Qdoba or Chipotle. The interior is really nice, definitely tops Qdoba and Chipotle in that aspect. I was honestly surprised at how nice it was! The service was friendly, the staff was patient with my indecisiveness which is always a plus! I went with the steak burrito as opposed to a quesadilla or bowl. The options are pretty much the same as any other burrito bar. Price range is a bit higher than most places. It was $ 23 for two burritos and one small drink. The burrito itself was okay, not bad though. They have this green ranch-like sauce that was ahhhh-mazing! I asked one of the gals what was in it and she told me she had no idea. That’s something you should probably find out when you’re working behind the counter serving food. My boyfriend has an avocado allergy and it definitely looks and tastes like it could be an avocado ranch type of sauce. It wouldn’t have been good if he had gotten it on his burrito. I’ll have to come back and try their quesadillas next time.

Hands down my favorite«Mexican» fast food joint in town. My absolute favorite burrito on the planet is their Sweet Pork Burrito with black or refried beans, rice, cheese, and red enchilada sauce… And of course more cheese! Hits the spot Every. Single. Time!!!

Super good! Similar to other«Fresh Mex» places, but it’s cool to see them stamp out the tortillas right in front of you and the food always tastes super fresh. I usually just get whatever the deal of the day is. It’s always good.

Wonderful little spot! I came here to feed a group of 4 after placing an online order. I had never eaten here before or heard of the name, so naturally I was a bit sceptical. First, the online ordering process is super simple and very user friendly. Second, when I arrived the place was clean and colorful. No funky atmosphere or dirty floors and tables, just all around very clean and neat. The girl who assisted me was very sweet and had a smile on throughout our entire interaction. The food was amazing! I got it home to feed my family and was quite impressed. The portions are quite generous and everything was made fresh. I had a grilled chicken burrito, no beans, extra sour cream and shredded cheese. Extremely good and filling. The chicken is actually grilled fresh and not frozen and reheated from a package like so many places nowadays. Very modest prices as well(About $ 8-$ 10 a head for adults). Needless to say I will definitely be returning some time in the near future. :)

Costa Vida is another Americanized Mexican Food Joint. In short, the place is akin to Qdoba and Chipotle and trying to fight for the business in the niche. Due to the fact that, at the end of the day it really is just«another» Mexican fast food sit down place, this review will compare/contrast with the other two main competitors: LOCATION — This review is for the McCarran/Pyramid location. The area is just as nice as the locations of the Chipotle and Qdoba I go to and I like how it has a mini-mart/gas and grocery store in the same shopping complex but the parking is worse. It’s pretty hard to get a decent spot if something is going on at Bully’s in the same center and the McDonalds patrons can get in the way. Other than that, I really can’t complain — it doesn’t stop me from going. **** 4 Stars for location. ATMOSPHERE — I like the atmosphere here a tad better than Qdoba and much better than Chipotle. The menu is fun an automated, the ordering area is long and wide and the restaurant is large so you don’t feel like you are sitting on top of each other. The décor is full of bright colors and fun designs. It’s definitely a «pick me up» sort of place if you’re in a questionable mood when you go in. ***** 5 stars for atmosphere. SERVICE — Pretty on par with the other two places. I don’t think I’ve really ever ran across a crappy Mexican food employee — it’s probably because Mexican food rocks. ***** 5 stars for Service. COST — I know this review is not about Qdoba. But Qdoba wins this one. Hands down. Prices are cheaper than the other two and they include guacamole. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when Mexican joints charge for guacamole. I know real Mexican doesn’t include guacamole but this place isn’t real Mexican. **** 4 stars for Cost. FOOD — The food here is pretty bomb. They have a great variety that the other places don’t offer like enchiladas and crazy tacos. They also offer flan and other semi-authentic options. The nachos are crazy — they layer them 3 times with chips and the regular portion is huge and well worth the money(except for the up-charge on guac). **** 4 stars for food because the nachos are 2nd best. Oh yeah — and they serve all the food in awesome aluminum containers with fitting lids so if you want it to go then you are already all set and you don’t need to get a new box. I have loyalty to Qdoba issues. This is my 2nd favorite wanna be Mexican Food place. It beat the pants off Chipotle though I have to say.

This was my first time at this costs vida location, and although I prefer the other one, this one settles the craving just fine! I always get the same thing at costa vida. Sweet pork smothered burrito, can’t go wrong! I felt the pork wasn’t as flavorful as it usually is, but still was an overall good burrito. My friend complained her salad wasn’t that great, though. One big problem was that the line started to get a little long and there was only one girl working the line, once the line died down is when other workers came out to help her.

Went here after the stellar reviews. The food is large and tasty. The price is about what you would expect although there’s an upcharge for everything extra you would want and that always annoys me. On the upside you can get refills on the horchata so it kinda evens out. Why the 3 stars then? The main reason is is that the ordering process was so horribly chaotic and some food bins were empty. The employees seemed like they were a bit lost and had to consult with the boss about allowing patrons to have certain components… Like salsa! This is a chain and it shows. I would eat here again, but I would not race back. It’s a Chipotle clone and that’s OK.

The first monday of every month is bunco night. What that means for me is i get to explore new restaurants while deb plays bunco. So tonight I mounted my four wheel steed and went on a hunt, restaurant hunt that is. I remembered a while back deb telling me about a mexican restaurant located in the raleys strip mall on pyramid and mccarran. Mexican food is my first love, kind off like how Michael T loves sushi, thai, pretty much everything, thats me with mexican. So I set my sights on Costa Vida. This chain restaurant based out of utah reminds me of Baja Fresh. You order your food at the counter and it is made fresh right in front of you. The restaurant itself has about twenty two tables and can sit big groups. The inside of the restaurant is inviting, but screams I am a chain restaurant. I ordered the fajita chicken burrito, and small nachos. The fajita chicken burrito is wrapped in a freshly made tortilla of your choice, flour or wheat. Inside s gr s ted cheddar cheese, your choice of beans, rice, red and green bell peppers, onions, mild peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and grilled chicken. This mountain of love is then put into a small oven to melt all the cheese to a gooey ooey consistency. Once through the oven you have a choice of toppings to smother your burrito in, i chose tomatillo cilantro. The burritto was quite good, very fresh, the different flavors rang through. From the bell peppers and mild chiles to the tomatillo sauce which packed a mild kick. The nacho chips are made in the restaurant and actually have a good taste. The nachos s re topped with beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese, lots of cheese. I added sweet pulled pork for my meat. The nacho see were very tasty. The sweet pulled pork was definitely sweet, almost to sweet. Everything else i enjoyed, next time i will order a different meat. So i found myself a new mexican restaurant, yeah. I will be back with my four wheel steed.

My family and I love this place. The sweet pork salad is my go to. Great quality veggies and meat. But above all else I love their chips and tomatillo ranch sauce. Sometimes service can be a little on the slow and unorganized side but overall I have been pleased. My kids love the cinnamon tortilla for dessert. I myself am partial to the horchata. I highly recommend this place. My only worry is that it is in a cursed location. In the last ten years there have been almost as many different restaurants and businesses in the same location and have all failed. I hope that Costa Vida breaks the trend.

Dare I say this is better than chipotle?! Yes, yes I do! The inside is not typical of what I expected from a Mexican restaurant. It’s well lit, they play reggae music(bonus star!) the employees speak and understand English AND are über polite! Service with a smile always improves dining experiences. The kid’s cheese quesadilla comes with a small drink, rice, beans, and a mouth watering cinnamon sugar tortilla of deliciousness. Of course I couldn’t eat it so I had to watch my son devour it in agony. I got a chicken burrito on wheat with pinto beans and rice. I added the raspberry chipotle sauce. Very yummy! It comes with lettuce and pico de gayo.(Hope I spelled that right) then I added guacamole. I reluctantly ate the whole thing. Not because it was gross, but it was so flipping good I couldn’t stop eating! I paid for it with some HIIT when I got home haha. For about $ 14 I fed my family, not bad at all!

I believe this spot is fairly new. The friendly cashier, Tailor, said 3months. They make your tortillas fresh on the spot! Our burritos were huge, my other half will be lunch tomorrow Clean and fun beach themed restaurant. Their staff was very friendly and offered us a sample of all of the meat and sauce options since it was our first time in. That tomatillo ranch-YUM! Great Sparks find

This place is not at all what I was expecting. 1. It’s a chain-I didn’t know 2. It’s cafeteria style-I didn’t know 3. No alcohol-I didn’t know This being said … The staff was very friendly, very. The food was prepared but our meal was assembled based on what we chose. Served hot and the tortillas were yummy!!! Actually the only thing I found wrong with my smothered burrito is that it was served in a small metal to go tin THISTHINGWASGIGANTIC!!! I ate about 1⁄5 of it. It was just hard to eat out of this container, however, it’s flavor was fine. Would I go back… for lunch if I was really hungry maybe I could eat 2⁄5. OH the atmosphere is actually bright and inviting.

Woo Hoo !!! Sparks location is opening today !!! Just a couple doors over from Bully’s on N McCarran and Pyramid. Always friendly and fresh food at the other location. Same Owner here, so it should be the same. No crazy promo this time, but first 200 get a free meal. If you’re driving by anyway, stop and grab some good food. Glad to see them expanding.
