This review is in reference to Dr. Darlene Mullen whom works for Northern Nevada Medical Group as a neurologist. I will copy and paste an email(with identifying factors redacted — HIPPA!) that I sent to NNMG’s parent company regarding this doctor. From: ************ Sent: February 25, 201511:35PM To: ********************************* Subject: My recent interaction with the new neurologist at NNMG — Dr. Darlene Mullen Dear Ms. ************** and Mr. ******: Yesterday, I had an appointment with the new neurologist at Northern Nevada Medical Group, Dr. Darlene Mullen. It was an extremely disappointing, and mildly infuriating experience. I had hoped that NNMG would have hired a neurologist as good of caliber as Dr. ******************* after she left, but apparently not. Dr. Mullen is extremely skilled at talking, but not listening. The only way I was able to speak at all was by interrupting her, while she spoke over me. From a psychological standpoint, this may indicate that she values herself far more than her patients, and doesn’t care one bit about actually helping them. The impression I got from her is that her only role as a neurologist is ‘trial and error’ prescribing medications and bad-mouthing her predecessor, Dr. *******. Since ‘trial and error’ was already done by Dr. ******, and well documented, there was nothing left for Dr. Mullen to do in an attempt to reduce or resolve my neurological issues. While bad-mouthing one’s predecessor is naturally in bad taste, it also opens oneself, or employer in this case, for the possibility of a slander lawsuit with monetary damages possible. Especially since the employer has now been notified in writing(assuming that I am the first). When the appointment had concluded and Dr. Mullen explained that she cannot do anything further for me, and thus is sending me to a different healthcare provider because she does not prescribe medications to control my daily pain and is complacent in my treatment, I found myself thinking, «This doctor is sending her work elsewhere. Why in the world should I continue seeing her for three prescriptions that I can likely get from my primary care provider?» While thinking the above, I was sitting in the little exam room after the appointment, waiting for my paper scripts, so that I may function until I get in to see my new healthcare provider, Dr. Mullen’s Medical Assistant, ******** *****, came into the room with the scripts and told me that Dr. Mullen left for lunch prior to signing them. My, exact, first response was, «What in the f***ing f*** is wrong with that woman? Is she really that absent minded, or is she just an idiot?» While ********** could have come up with some bald-faced lie to cover for the inadequacies and incompetency of Dr. Mullen, she did not; I believe it was because she was in shock at Dr. Mullen’s actions. ****** appeared to be genuinely shocked by the asanine behavior of the doctor that she assists. ******** was kind enough to offer to mail the scripts to my pharmacy after Dr. Mullen returned from lunch and was in the office to sign them, however I declined. I decided that I would stay in the little exam room until Dr. Mullen returned from her lunch so that I would continue to occupy the space that would otherwise be used for another patient, and so that Dr. Mullen may be clued into her grevious error in conduct. Dr. Mullen lost future profits for you yesterday. Also, my interactions and impressions will be posted online for the world to see, so that others may have some insight into what kind of doctor she is, and to look elsewhere for appropriate and adequate neurological care. I hope that you can take my statement with thought, insight and compassion, and do the right thing for the patients(and frankly, UHS’s bottom line since Dr. Mullen has driven at least one patient away) of Northern Nevada Medical Group. Since I am not a lawyer, and merely a patient, I am not providing legal advice regarding the slander of Dr. ********** ******. I am, however, providing friendly intelligence of someone in your employ. I very much look forward to hearing back from you. Due to the nature of this correspondence, I would appreciate only being contacted in writing. ****************** ******************** *********************
