Great local place and healthy! Love coming here for dinner with friends.

This place is delicious! It’s worth the wait. The servers always nice also it’s great to see the chef walking around to see how the food was. I recommend this place.

My girlfriend spent a summer in Seoul and was craving Korean food so we went here. I find the dishes really delicious — the bulgogi and kalbi are really tasty, but the dishes are really barebones — just rice and the meat. They offer 3 side dishes, but other Korean places I’ve been to offer 5 or more. The appetizers are great, I recommend the toppoki. I recommend trying it out and I completely understand if it isn’t for you.

Worst kalbi and worst teriyaki chicken I ever ordered. The portions were so small that I ate both complete dinners to make up for the same amount you usually get at a Korean teriyaki place. It was just terrible. Twenty dollars later. I will not go back.

We wanted to try Korean food, and found Hana Garden. It was delicious and interesting — seems authentic, but I’m no expert. I will visit again.

Upgraded rating, given this is Reno. The Dongtae jji-gae hits the spot after a full day in the snow. Nice staff.

Korean is my favorite food and this place serves excellent food. They offer some Japanese dishes to those not crazy about Korean food. The service is excellent. The food is authentic and tasty. I highly recommend it to first time Korean cuisine eaters.

This place is a 3 star in L. A but for Sparks, NV I think this is pretty authentic already. I would definitely come back.

So we’ve never had Korean food before but I saw bibimbap on «Iron Chef» and knew I had to have it!!! On a trip to Reno I decided I was gonna find it! Amazing little café style place! Even had the whiskey!

Soft tofu soup was amazing! Very flavorful and you get to pick your spice level which I really liked. I can’t handle much heat so I got level 2 and for me it was perfect! Service was nice and the husband’s bibimbop was good too!

My first experience with kimchi happened here. I walked in with a friend looking for a light snack. I picked miso soup and tempura shrimp from the menu, while he had Korean style fried rice with shrimp. My soup was accompanied by fermented sprouts, seasoned tofu strips and kimchi. Mixed in individually or alone, all were heavenly. And at less than $ 5 for a cup of soup, you can’t beat this place. My shrimp were the kind where you could tell they were pre frozen, so there isn’t much to say. I also had a bite of my friend’s meal which was tasty. There are some interesting options here and if you are looking for something a bit on the exotic side, give this place a try.

The Kalbi was fantastic! I’d go back just for that. However the side dishes were only fair. I love Korean food especially for the side dishes, varieties of kimchi and such. The sides at Hana garden were only ok. One of the sides I wasn’t sure if I was eating eggs or fish(and that’s not something one should be confused about!!!). I’d love to know the name of this dish(to avoid it!) — fishy tasting egg noodly things. The server was very nice but super busy– she had the whole restaurant on her own, so she would drop something off without making eye contact because she was off to another table. Overall, I would go back for the kogi, but mainly because it’s the only Korean food in town. Hoping for different side dishes next time.

It was a Wednesday afternoon it wasn’t too busy. But the flies sure made it seem buzzing. This was my first time coming to this place and I possibly came on a bad day, but there were a few flies in the restaurant. Although they didn’t bug me during my meal it wasn’t nice seeing. Now onto the food. I ordered the bulgogi and it was good. The meat was flavorful and delicious and it came with a side of rice. But one con would be that the portions seemed small. Although it was delicious I felt that the other Unilocal reviews made the servings seems larger. Also, I’m usually a huge fan of water, but not this time. Although water is water and you can’t be harsh about it. There was a weird flavor or taste to it. Despite my initial view, this place is a place that you should try if you are around this part of town. It is defiantly another food place for people who live near Sparks. But if you like Korean food or haven’t tried it before you should at least check it out.

Bay Area’s standards: Good-OK. Probably wouldn’t stand out as much Reno’s standards: Very Good-Yummy I believe this is the only Korean restaurant in the Reno area. With that being said, I’m glad that the food was pretty good and they were super friendly. I definitely will be coming back. –Spicy Tofu Soup: You can customize the level of spiciness(0 – 5). We choose 4, and quite honestly it’s like a 2 in our books(but than again we eat VERY spicy to the point where our stomach hates us) but it this wasn’t a major concern to us. The soup was well seasoned though it could’ve used a little bit more depth(like the flavor could’ve been stronger). –Bibimbap: GETTHECLAYPOT, it’s a few more bucks, but trust me, totally worth it! For those that never had bibimbap, it’s basically the Korean version of fried rice. I can’t think of anything to add to the bibimbap, it was extremely delissh! The shiitake mushroom was very well seasoned and it was what stood out the most. Don’t forget to add that red sauce when you mix it all up. –Banchan: There was only 3: beansprouts, fishcake, and kimchi. Sadly, they weren’t all that great. Fishcake had no flavor, beansprouts were ok, and the kimchi was just a teeny bit sour(though it’s probably good to some, it’s not what I like; i’m pretty picky when it comes to kimchi). But than again, these are usually bought and not homemade, so no big deal.

I want to love this place, I really do, but after two visits that love affair just hasn’t blossomed yet. Located in a strip mall in Sparks next to an Asian grocery, this spot has all the makings of an exciting ethnic food adventure. When we walked in, the number of Asian diners and the lack of English in the kitchen also lead me to believe we were in for a treat. And of course, my fellow Unilocalers with their great reviews also had me excited to give this place a second chance. The only discouraging thing was a strange odor in the space, which reminded me of durian. We just put it out of our minds and moved on to the food. We ordered bibimbap with bulgogi, soft tofu soup and the toppoki. The toppoki was an appetizer with rice sticks, sliced fish cake, and potsticker dumplings doused Ina red gravy. I’d never eaten anything like this, and I found it strangely satisfying. Bibimbap came in a large stone pot sizzling away. You could hear and smell the rice getting toasted. The rice was topped with lots of vegetable garnishes, but only the tiniest amount of rather sad looking bulgogi. There wasn’t any discernible flavor from the marinade, no crispy caramelized bits, and all around flat. I also detected a non stick spray taste too. The soft tofu soup was interesting with a rich red and fiery broth, large pieces of tofu that crumble as you move the spoon through it, and a raw egg that you mix into the soup itself to thicken it. All in all we liked our food, but felt it fell a little flat. I so desperately wish we had some KBBQ in town! I’d tear that up! But bottom line here is I would absolutely return. It’s the only place to get any tastes of Korea, so I’ll gladly support them. Next time for lunch!

Love this place! I am a tad spoiled when it comes to korean food. I do get authentic korean food made for me from my family and I also know how to cook some dishes. They someone’s take a while to bring out the food but this isn’t a fast food joint. Quality food takes time and besides there only 1 cook and its a little korean lady. All in all everyone that posts bad about this place that has only come here once can’t really say much. You should always give a place a second chance. When I do the second time usually is better or I know it’s just not the right place for me. But this is the closest you’ll get to korean food not made by your own family of course.

This might be the only Korean restaurant in Reno or at least one of the few so if you’re craving Korean food then this is it. The restaurant is very basic and dated and seemingly not that busy. The food is okay, your basic Korean choices including the usual sides. The kalbi beef is probably your best bet; it’s okay and has decent flavor. The spicy pork bulgogi isn’t that spicy and not that flavorful.

The prices at Hana Garden are way below typical costs for Korean food. Kalbi normally goes for $ 20+ an order. Here, it was about half the cost. I haven’t tried it yet but I will update my review when I get the chance to come back again. Having moved out to Reno recently, I’ve been pretty bummed out about the lack of good, quality, Asian food. Most of the Korean people out here told me to check out Hana Garden… but they always gave me a warning. «It’s the best place in the area if you want Korean food… but the food is just eh, ok.» I have to agree. I ordered the jjamppong which is actually Chinese with a Korean emphasis. The lady at the Asian market next door told me that it was pretty good. While the food was piping hot and had decent flavor, the noodles were way overcooked and the seafood left me disappointed. Not the best I’ve ever had… The jajiangmyun(black bean sauce noodles) was a hair short of falling into the flavorless category. The noodles were overcooked again and the sauce lacked seasoning and flavor. The banchan(side dishes) were extremely minimal. Typically at a Korean restaurant, you get at least 10+. Here, we got 3 – 4. The kimchee wasn’t done fermenting yet although the fish cake was delish. The service, on the other hand, was FANTASTIC. I’ve never, EVER experienced service like this at any Korean restaurant. The server and owner came out to talk to us and they were ridiculously friendly and constantly refilled our tea. Amazing. the service alone would make me revisit Hana Garden.

I was so happy to find out this korean restaurant because kinda rare around Reno /Sparks, so i ordered spicy pork bulgogi and it came with kimchi, bean sprouts, and fishcake. Taste was so yummy, and not too spicy for me :) and bibimbap was ok not really bad. Service was friendly. The restaurant itself is clean. Will be back again for sure

I met with some moms from my daughter’s school for an impromptu luncheon today. I wasn’t exactly in the mood for Asian food, especially after the Filipino feast I had last night with my fellow Unilocalers. But, being the social butterfly that I am, I could not afford to miss out lunching with some of my favorite gals, especially now that some of them are moving away. Our lunch planner is Korean and it was interesting to listen to her speak with the waitress in her native tongue. Our waitress was very pleasant and generous, allowing us to do separate checks with our party. She brought us hot water in mugs that was very soothing and seemed to have a hint of flavor, though I could not tell you exactly what it was. There were about 12 in our party, and while everybody ordered a noodle dish, rice dish, or soup with meats or seafood, our plates came out at nearly the same amount of time. We delighted in our meals and conversation, and our plates and bowls were nearly licked clean we enjoyed them so much. I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi, which came with some vegetables and a side of steamed rice. The spicy part seemed to refer to the flavors they added to the dish versus an indication of heat to the dish. It was indeed very flavorful, and while I would be pleased to have it again, I think I will return and try one of the bimbimbap dishes as they looked beautiful with the various colors and textures within the dish. This seems to be a mom and pop joint, as the menu is simple and the ambiance is very casual and plain, and the price point is very reasonable. Most dishes are within a $ 7.95-$ 8.95 range. But don’t let that lead you to believe that you’re going to get something short of quality because the freshness and quality was definitely high. I know my man is a fan of this joint, so I just might recommend it the next time we’re looking for a place for a lunch date.
