A constant stop anytime I visit the area. Don’t let the look of the place deceive you; they have several buildings that serve as a de-facto farmers market/local grocery store. But bring cash! It’s mostly known for the orchard, but actually I visit for the produce, cookies, and/or pies. Somehow, they manage to stock a bunch of ingredients that you’d never expect in a little store in farm country, and it’s inexpensive. Need cumin? Check. Need buckwheat pancake mix? Check. Need curry powder? Check — and it’s cheaper than any supermarket. Foodies should check this place out. But 2/3rds of the time I visit, I’m there to pick up sweets for a day trip. Excellent pies — I’ve been known to pick my Christmas or Thanksgiving pies from here. And they have ice cream that I hardly ever see anywhere else. Who would have thought this place exists where it is?

A must stop if you go through Sperryville. Just a quarter mile down Old Hollow. Actually, please stay away. I live in Sperryville and don’t want to let all the local secrets out of the bag! Roy and Janet responsibly(no chemicals) grow a lot the fruits and vegetables right there and what they bring in also passes their standards. This years blueberries are KILLER! So are the peaches. Janet makes a variety of jams and jellies from their berries but the real treat is one of her pies or cobblers! To die for! Any of them! You can also get local meats. And if I’m too tired to cook, they have frozen pizza also! Just be sure to bring cash or a check. No credit cards.

This place is dynamite. Right off 211 a bit east of Sperryville. There’s a little sign, but nothing which indicates the wide selection of products that await you. In addition to fruits and veggies, you can look forward to homemade pies, ice cream, beef/pork/chicken/lamb, canned goods, jam, cider, and the list goes on. Highly recommended!
