They have great food! Always more than I can eat. My son loves the salad bar. Staff is friendly. Also we’ve ordered to go several times and have always got exactly what we ordered.

Great family owned restaurant. Try the fried pickles and green tomatoes they are great tasting and so is they’re home made ranch.

We had a just fine experience here:) While visiting family, we popped into the Splendora Café on a busy Saturday. Service took quite a while, but the waitress was friendly. I split a burger and fries with a table mate and was pleased with the warm and juicy burger as well as the fries. The salad bar was disappointing, but the onion rings were a fine choice. In full transparency, I don’t believe that many items-if any– were made fresh. All seemed to have a «from a bag» quality. Overall, this café was okay– stronger service could have improved the experience.

I was super surprise by my $ 70 total for my four person dining partners. I could have driven to Houston and eaten at a real restaurant for less money. Sorry location for food quality, price and loud atmosphere! The people of this tiny community deserve a better dinning experience for the huge sum of money!

They have really good food and customer service! Me and my co-workers always come here for lunch or dinner. All we do is call it in, wait 10mins and stop by to pick-up our food. Their BBQ Sliced beef sandwiches are my favorite! Their peach cobbler is also amazing!

My brother insisted on taking me to the café before we took his truck for some body work. It took about 20 minutes to get drinks. In fact, brother wanted to walk out. Then, it took just as long to order. I understand our waitress was slammed with orders, cleaning, drinks, tabs, ect… but come on. She let us get a salad on the house as a peace offering. I ended up going with the chopped beef baked potato and my brother had the chopped beef sandwich. My potato was HUGE! I made 3 meals out of it. The chopped beef was nothing spectacular but the BBQ sauce is something else! We thought there might be some liquid crawfish boil in there. Thin, vinegar, spicy and not sweet like Texas BBQ sauce should be! Mmmmmm! My brother loved his brisket sandwich, but I’m from Dallas. We really cook our briskets low and slow with pecan or mesquite wood for hours upon hours, building that dark, burnt crust that keeps the meat juicy. I didn’t experience this at the café, but it hit the spot. I could see us going back for a low key, southern style meal. Oh– the fries are very good!!! And the burgers people were eating looked delish! Just avoid during lunch rush!

This place is always packed, very popular with the locals. The portions are huge so come hungry. The chicken fried steak and chicken are really good, so is the fried okra. The servers are always nice and accomodating. The time before last that we dinned there it was so busy we had to wait a bit for a table. There was a couple already seated and eating who offered us to sit with them in the other two chairs at their table. That gesture blew me away. We politely declined their offer because a table was being cleared for us. The only downfall I have found is that the blue cheese salad dressing is not very tasty at all. However their salad bar options are pretty good.

Just waited 45 minutes for a blt, a chicken wrap and onion rings. We were past the lunch rush, so I’m not sure what the hold up was. The waitress came to our table about 30 mins after she took our order and asked us again what we ordered. She told us that she put the order in and she didn’t know what the hold up was. My guess is she never told the kitchen what we ordered. Either way, 45 mins for 2 sandwiches isn’t acceptable. To make it even worse, we never even got our food. We just had to go to Sonic, and it only took about 5 minutes.

I love this place. We have eaten there numerous times and have never walked away disappointed. BBQ baked potatoes are huge and you can have your choice of meat, my fave is the chopped beef. They smoke everything in house and even make their own BBQ sauce which, btw, is very good. The portions are huge and the service for the most part is pretty good. Now if only they would deliver…

Went there with my brother for lunch and this place was much better than I expected! I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans while my brother had the chicken fried steak. Everything on both orders was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. Also, the portions they serve as quite large for the price. To our surprise, the meal came with a salad bar and we were both equally impressed with how fresh and cold all of the veggies were. I will definitely be going back to this place!

The chopped BBQ was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. I had the BBQ baked potato. The salad bar had the usual fixin’s. They offer an array of fried foods. The fried pickles, mushrooms, and onion rings were fantastic. The café is off the beaten path, but had quite the little crowd for it being late in the evening. The service was friendly and prompt. Our server earned his tip, for sure.

Had dinner at the Splendora Café with my grandparents who live in the Houston area. We went in with my grandmother raving that they had the best brisket in all of Houston. She likes her beef over cooked, so I should have expected it to be so. It was. I sampled the sides, green beans, coleslaw, fried okra, and mashed potatoes with white and dark gravy. My grandad ordered the pork spare ribs. The okra was great, the slaw was definitely a premade, green beans were well seasoned. The mashed tatters had the taste and texture of real, but both gravies tasted like they were from a can. Now again, I cannot stress this enough, the brisket was dry and over cooked, but my god were the ribs fantastic. Dinner also came with a trip up to the salad bar, it’s nothing special but everything was nice and fresh. Oh, and they really need a better sauce, or none at all. I plan to stop of there one more time before I head back to Tampa to sample the burgers, they are after all my favorite food group.

Food is very good and fresh. Portions are large and prices are more than fair. I have eaten here many, many times. My only complaint would have to be the Bar-B-Que sauce. My family, friends and I just throw it away. They need to revamp their b-b-q sauce. I would definitely recommend this place their food is great.

We found ourselves one Saturday afternoon in the bucolic burg of Splendora, Texas(pop. 1275) and were in search of lunch. Splendora has undergone a bit of commercial growth in the past few years; one can’t miss the brand new Jack in the Box and Sonic along the highway on the way into town. But we ventured about a half-mile north, to a new development that is Splendora’s less-Disneyesque version of Market Street or Town Square. In this cluster of new, tidy commercial buildings we found several new independent restaurants: An Asian café, a Tex-Mex restaurant, a pizzaria, and the Splendora Café. We ventured into the bright, clean space, and were promptly greeted by the waitstaff, a good beginning. The items on the menu were very affordable, and as the aroma wafted by from each dish brought from the kitchen, we looked forward to our meal. And we weren’t disappointed. I ordered a chopped beef BBQ sandwich with a side of onion rings. The beef was freshly-chopped brisket, with a nice ¼″ smoke ring visible on the largeish chunks of meat. Sauce was applied sparingly, a good indication that the establishment is proud of their meat. And it was quite good; among the better BBQ we’ve found in the Houston area, with a rich, smoky flavor. The onion rings were also successful — hand-breaded with a delicious, slightly sweet batter, and fried to a deep, golden brown. The menu has a nice variety of BBQ, burgers, sandwiches, and other Texas favorites, like the ubiquitous chicken-fried steak. We look forward to sampling other selections when we return.
