My husband and I, Vermonters who have moved away, are ending a month stay here at Old New England Village. This place is wonderful. Wonderful! From the kind and funny proprietress, Raette Trombly, to the charming cottage (ours has a water view and sleeps 8) to the sandy beach where we play and swim and dock my husband’s sailboat, it would be hard to ask for more. It reminds us both of sweet lake houses we stayed in as kids. Guests can use the kayaks and gas grills and have night fires on the beach. Perfect location between Brattleboro and Keene, but the best thing of all is Spofford Lake. (13 cottages of varying sizes on Spofford Lake.)
