Went in based on an earlier review stating he had a large selection of comic books. He no longer carries comics. OK selection of used books. Nothing out of the ordinary.

For some mysterious reason I do not treat paperback books well. I drop them in swimming pools, spill drinks on them, leave them on planes, misplace them, or they just fall apart. So I am always on the lookout for used book stores, and I always compare them to Cal’s. I started going to this bookstore when it first opened many in 1978. It has always been a great place to exchange paperbacks; it has a wide and diverse selection, and the prices are the best I have found. He also has a small selection of used hard bound books, videos, and some magazines, but his main inventory are the used paperbacks. And quite a selection he has — everything from recent books thrillers, to romance, mystery, adventure, and westerns. Anything a person could want can be found on the shelves. He also had a website which has a limited selection of books. I always stop here for books before I head out on a trip. Great selection, great price!

Cal’s got probably the largest selection of comic books in the area, and a great selection of pre-loved books, most of which are in excellent condition. Has a number of titles by local authors, or about local history, geography, etc… Definitely worth a drop-by, although I personally like the selection at Defunct more. Cal’s as honest as my gradfather, but the dude’s got that spunky enthusiasm for books that will spur generations of youngsters into writing. Wonder if he’s related to Ralph Waldo… PS, some of his books can be found online at his website or on Amazon. Very reasonable prices.
