Stellar service. Great ambiance. The most delicious Asian fusion food. Interesting menu. If you wait until after 6:30 on Friday night, expect a wait. They are very, very adept at managing the waiting customers.

I have to give this 5 stars because it is the best authentic Chinese food I have ever eaten. Fresh ingredients, everything was delicious, and they will cater to your like of spicy or not so spicy. There was none of that heavy MSG that is typical in other Chinese restaurants. Our server was friendly and helpful in recommending dishes. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later!

Went here for the 1st time with a group of 8. Couldn’t be seated until all of us were there. :-(Then we ended up in two tables of 4. It was lunch time so the place was busy. There was only 1 waiter serving the whole place, so service was pretty minimal, though he was pleasant enough when talking to us for the most part. Food was good, but the way the rice was served seemed odd. Bowls of rice placed on the tables, some of us didn’t want or eat rice but were charged for the rice. The biggest issue we had was that the waiter choose to included both tables on 1 tickets and charge us for rice(when 2 didn’t have rice) and the hand written ticket was very confusing. Total of $ 100.00 with out explaining if tax was added or was that the 18% tip? At the front door it did say that parties of 8 or more will have 18% tip added. We had asked for separate tickets and told that was not possible for him to do. Really, you hand wrote the ticket??? We all left feeling that because we were two tables; there should have been two tickets written up! Also then we could have caught that we were over charged for the rice, etc, because we didn’t know what the other table had and they didn’t know what we had. General opinion was that as a group we would not be back. :-(

Wonderful, fabulous, unbelievable Gordy’s has changed hands! Purchased by two of his LONG-time cooks, the place may even be better than ever. Which means even better than ever the best Sichuan ever. A definite requirement is the Gan Bian Green Beans. If you make a mistake and order the Sha Cha Grean Beans, they won’t disappoint, though. And I don’t LIKE green beans! Every other item on the menu is perfection, too.

Sauces too rich and simply too much of it(lacks subtlety), scallops used in a manner that reveals low quality and a particular noodle dish that wasn’t properly imbued with sauce(plain noodles sitting atop the sauce). Try Happiness on Sprague.

Love the food! Quite an experience dining here as, well, I guess I have never really had authentic Chinese food before. All of the dishes at our table seemed lighter, less fatty, and less salty than«Americanized» Chinese. My niece had the best dish of us all«Garlic Black Bean Beef.» The flavors were very subtle, but amazing. My wife had a piece of metal in her meal that she ended up chewing on, unfortunately. She brought it to the attention of our server, who immediately recognized it for what it was, part of a wire whisk they use to clean their woks. Apologies were prompt, my wife’s meal was comped, and she happily enjoyed the rest of what was, undoubtedly the best free meal she’s ever had. The food is five stars. The ambience and setting are Spartan, less than inspiring, and reminiscent of a cafeteria, but in the final analysis, it is the food we went for and the food we will go back to. It would be great if Gordy’s moved or upgraded the facility as they seem to be doing quite well. Just as an afterthought, it would be interesting to know what some of these reviewers who give Gordy’s just one or two stars would rate as better Chinese here in Spokane. Does it exist? My wife and I sure would like to know, so we could go…

The egg flower soup, family size, is absolutely FAMILY sized! And, a different kind of taste to it as well… just better than your usual EFS I suppose. Food was fresh and tasty without all the sodium flava! Anyway… I’ll be back!

Ordered several entrees in order to have leftovers, and only 2 of the 4 I really liked and would order again. I liked the chicken chow mien, which isn’t on the menu, but they made it special, and the Gang pow chicken. The dumplings were also pretty good. Family style restaurant.

I mean… well. You know. This place is incredible. You drive up grand and pass 29th street. You think, «Well, this is Spokane, and anything besides water is going to be meh.» But no, Gordy’s is fantastic. Some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. As a San Diegan I can say that this blows any other Sichuan out of the water here, San Diego, or LA. Just go in, have a great time and get drunk on good food and ambiance. and wine obviously.

This place is small, but nice. Has really good food and okay service. We had the Gan Bian Green Beans, which were very yummy, the Sha Cha ‘San Xian’ Noodle, also good, and Black Date Chicken, which was too rich for me and I also didn’t like that they didn’t remove pits from the dates, but everyone else at the table loved it.

The best chinese in Spokane. This, after having lived in both DC and NYC and I have a Chinese wife who has toured me through China and Chinese cuisine. Her exact quote regarding Gordy’s: «Wow, these white people can COOK!» Try the dumplings, the green beans and the spicy red snapper. Good beer menu. Busy on the weekends. Small venue. Great staff.

We tried Gordy’s based on a friend’s recommendation and Unilocal review. The place is small, around 8 – 9 tables so be prepared to wait during busy weekends. We were acknowledged and promptly shown to a table during dinner time on a Wednesday. The service was very friendly and attentive throughout. Restaurant has a great Chinese smell to eat but AC so be prepared to be a bit hot. We ordered couple of beers(3.50 each!) and lemon chicken(mild) and Mongolian beef(hot). Both were very delicious! Definitely will try the place again and recommend to others for Chinese food.

This is by far some of the best food in Spokane! The ratings do not lie. Be sure to check the hours of operation so you don’t show up to a dark restaurant like we did. We’ve made it back a few times since we first tried Gordy’s. We try something different every time. Their homemade dumpling are a must every time we come!

I tried Gordy’s last night for the first time on the recommendation of friends. I will definitely go back. My wife and our two friends all enjoy trying everything, so we ordered two appetizers and four entrees to share. The appetizers we chose were sesame prawns and dumplings. Each comes with seven pieces, which seems like a good amount for a single person. We paid a little extra for one more of each — that way we could all have two pieces. The dumplings were tasty, with moist dough that didn’t overwhelm the filling. The sesame prawns were better, and the dipping sauce for the prawns struck the perfect balance between sweet and a bit spicy. My favorite entrée was Basil Chicken which had a great combination of flavors and a nice amount of heat. The Gan Pung Chicken was good, but we asked for a bit of extra spice and it had almost no heat at all. The special that was suggested by the server was beef tenderloin and asparagus, which was very enjoyable. On the advice of another reviewer, we also ordered Dan Dan Noodles with smoked pork. I really liked this dish — the noodles were firm and the pork had a good, poignant flavor. At the risk of sounding gluttonous, we also tried dessert. The green tea ice cream with Thai coconut wafers is simple but tasty, and really appeals to me because it is not overpoweringly sweet. The ice cream is just sweet enough and the wafers add a nice touch. I can’t remember the other dessert because I didn’t order it, but it was ice cream with an orange flavored topping that was actually delicious. Our server was helpful and confident in making suggestions. She came back frequently enough but without pestering us. I would hesitate to bring a large group to Gordy’s because space is limited, and they don’t take reservations. However, for a small group or a couple, this is an excellent dining experience.

Memories. I was here on opening day 18 years ago, and I’ve been here 100s of times since Get the lemon chicken. It’s amazing.
