The dance floor itself may not be the best in town. Its not the biggest one either. But it is a great place to learn to dance. The ambiance is quaint and intimate. The instructors are easy going and its all about having fun and not being taught to be perfect. The class sizes are usually under 12 people so you get a lot of one on one attention if you want. Neat location too. There are not many dance studios in downtown anymore. It’s worth a stop by to check it out.

Satori is a unique spot in downtown Spokane. The back room is a bit of a lounge where you can drop in for some discussion and learning of various languages, followed by a tango or salsa or other dance style clinic. You can drop in as you wish and have an affordable dance lesson. Private dance lessons are available and the group has some more formal events elsewhere on the weekend in the area. The ambiance is quaint, urban chic in a half basement of an old brick building. If you are lucky, you may show up on a night when there is a special appearance by a debonaire French linguist with minimal dancing capabilities.

I just started dancing in November of 2012. Found Satori a few weeks in, and it quickly became my favorite dance venue. Victor Smith the owner is welcoming, kind and friendly. He doesn’t shake you down at the door either, instead welcomes you to have an enjoyable evening and put $ 5 in the jar if you do. Compared to other dance places I’ve been, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I can dance without worrying about«messing up» or «doing it wrong.» Victor doesn’t seem to have those words in his vocabulary, and therefore at Satori I can enjoy myself, even though I’m a beginner. The other dancers are also incredibly friendly here, it’s common for many people to greet me and introduce themselves when I arrive. I’m always meeting new people and have a great impression of the Satori dance community. Thank you Victor!
