We had a pretty big group on the pizza train. All of us had a great time on the train. All personnel on the train were wonderful. Very well managed on the train. We got all of our pizzas at the same time. Again all personnel on the train were great. I’m only giving a two star because the owner was so rude to my family in the gift shop. She literally shouted, so loudly that my husband who was in the other room heard everything she said. I’m assuming she was the owner. If not, and she was staff, she should be reprimanded or let go. She turned a really nice family day out into a disturbing experience. WILLNOTDOTHISAGAIN or RECOMMENDTOANYONE.

This was a fun and pleasant experience! It wasn’t what I expected but we still had a great time! I waited to go in the winter because I was hoping for snow, but that didn’t happen this year. The train ride was fun and the service was really good! The food was also good. It wasn’t great, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. The mashed potatoes were awesome! The rooms are really small, but I liked that about them because it is a train and rooms are supposed to be small! I loved the older cars that we were able to walk through and hang out in. I didn’t see a bonfire, but I went to bed rather early. We had some cranberry wine that was really sweet but also very yummy! It was a good time and although I wouldn’t go back again, I am happy that I had the experience to do it!

Very terrible customer service. We purchased a groupon for a train ride and overnight stay. Two days prior to our trip, they left a message on our phone that they were cancelling the trip due to mechanical error and you will need to call back to reschedule for a date of over 6 months away. I understand that things cant be helped but not even a I am sorry we have to inconvenience you or anything. After calling back, the lady was still rude. Would not recommend.

My husband and I got the Groupon. We were pretty excited, he had never been on a train before! I don’t believe that I ever expected top notch food, we were on that train for the experience not a five star meal, so we were pleasantly surprised by the good food. Again, not foodie material but our salads weren’t icebox lettuce, the chicken kiev was juicy with cranberries inside and my husbands steak was just fine. I really loved the staff and the train was so cool. The lounge car was impeccably restored and I got an awesome retro photo of myself on it. The first class Dianne car was very cool, I wish we had the cha-ching to stay there, with the full beds and all. Our cabin was super small, but that’s all part of the train travel experience! Breakfast was great, excellent french toast with coffee and orange juice(plus eggs and sausage I didn’t try.) I enjoyed it enough that I am seriously considering taking my Dad up for the Fathers Day brunch. He would love this thing.

Note: Not a dining review as we went for the afternoon run. Went with a group of adults and kids. The train cars have been refurbished with an eye toward saving money. There was a bar car with a mixture of uncomfortable restaurant booths and café tables with stackable banquet chairs. There was a disco ball and they were playing 80s music. Huh? The windows were the cheapest vinyl double hungs just tilted on their side. The charm was completely missing. The only other car operating was just as soulless and devoid of charm. The first half of the trip was along the 4 lane county road and really only got kinda scenic for the last 5 minutes before the train stopped and backed up for the return. Just not worth the time invested. I love old trains and wanted to enjoy this but it was a total bust.

I want to love it, I really do but I just can’t. We scored a groupon that made it half-price and decided to check it out. My hopes were high for a fun ladies night out but it was just meh. The car well well-restored and the conductor was brimming with adorableness and enthusiasm but the food was just terrible. My friends ordered the prime rib and were happy with their choice but I got the prosciutto wrapped, gouda stuffed chicken and the texture was mealy and it tasted metallic. I would do it again for the train ride experience, especially in the fall but skip the food. Maybe they should stick to train rides.

The folks that run this are REALLY nice, and as much as I’d love to give the Sunday Brunch a great review, I just can’t. My wife and I got a ½ off coupon for the Sunday brunch and we drove the 100+ miles to Spooner with great hopes. I was hoping for a nicely restored«age of steam» dining car. What we were seated in had obviously been a nice car once, but was now fitted out with plain tables and banquet-room seats. True, we did have a cloth tablecloth and napkins and real china, but it sure didn’t make up for the food. As my wife said«This is kind of like they serve in my school’s cafeteria on a bad day». Soggy beans, over-cooked side dishes, tasteless French toast, bland ham, and sausages with bone fragments just don’t cut it. Mind you, the view out one side of the car was wonderful. It had snowed the night before and it was beautiful. The other side was for a goodly part of the trip next to a highway. At 10MPH we were going by that for a LONG time.
