we spent a wonderful Mothers Day at Wilderness Run. Dog friendly, great music, cool/rustic layout and great excitement with lots of animals and families around. The drinks were unique and refreshing as well. Only thing that lacked was more food variety. There was a waffle truck which some people apparently love but we were looking for more traditional wine fare.

Great place to visit! It was my first time even though I’ve passed it probably 50 times going back and forth to school that way. Not all the wine went well with my taste buds, but that is to be expected. I don’t remember what white wine we bought a bottle of to drink and smoke a cigar with, but it sure didn’t last that long because it was so delicious and perfect for the weather. There are turkeys that roam the grounds freely, which I found super exciting. There are also horses and a llama on the grounds but not roaming freely of course. There was also an AMAZING waffle truck there on Sunday and I loved it!

All around fantastic. Enjoyable ambiance, comfortable outdoor seating and fire pits; delicious wine complimented with nice meats and cheeses. I have been here numerous time and enjoyed myself tremendously. The scenery is beautiful and the crowd is very friendly. They have a awesome cigar lounge and a brewery in the works.

I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to stop at this winery as I pass it often while working. I had the chance to go on Friday, so I stopped by. Wine tasting alone isn’t nearly as fun, but I found a way to enjoy it still. ;) I was a little disappointed right off the bat at the«ambiance». They are still fairly new though, so don’t let the outside fool you. The inside was pretty cool. They only offered one Wilderness Run wine and the others were from other Virginia wines. I would go back again in the future to see what, if anything, has changed. I recommend giving it a try!

Had a great time here with my family and my beautiful gf. The place is lovely and they have a wonderful dejection of wines and beers. The dog chickens and turkeys are very friendly. No tripworthy stumps encountered.

We went 2 weekends ago to hear a band and drink some adult beverages! The Chardonnay was my favorite~ and the evening was so relaxing, sitting under the trees listening to a great Blues band. We even got a golf cart ride by a very nice employee to visit the horses and get a personal tour of the grounds. Every one there were friendly. It does feel like you are hanging out with friends in your backyard. To the guy below that left such a nasty review there is a sign stating ‘No Outside Alcohol Allowed’. That is pretty much common sense. Sounds like you were just a disrespectful bunch. It seemed to me to be very family and kid friendly. BUT most families were watching their kids~ I would say if you are going there to party maybe you should get a babysitter and enjoy your time not worrying about the little ones~ We just visited again yesterday via the FredTrolley tour~this was another great visit~ We will be back as WRV is now one of our favorite vineyards/brewery.

This place was great. My husband and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon on our way home from Shenandoah National Park. We had our two kids and dog with us. They had a large outdoor area to sit and relax and also had live music today which was an extra treat. There was plenty of kids running around playing corn hole and on the swings, playhouse and petting zoo. They had a good variety of wine that is not outrageously priced. I look forward to tasting their Merlot and Cabernet coming out soon! I’m glad we stopped here.

You Sir are a moron. Not only did your drunk wife verbally attack a 7 year old child she physically places her hands on me. Feel free to send any photo wish to ABC. Maybe you should post so. e signs on your property. There was no sign indicating that part of your private property was off limits. I also apologize to the lady who was hit in the foot by the football. The fact your drunk ass wife laughed and clapped at a person who fell on your private property is a clear example of your stupidity. If you would like to have a face to face discussion about this just let me know.

Me and my girlfriend visited Wilderness Run on our tour of Virginia wineries. Of the 20+ wineries we visited, WR had the best service by a long shot. The WR white blend was the best single wine we had on our trip. Definitely worth the visit.

My husband and I visited this winery for the first time yesterday after seeing advertisements for their Harvest Festival. We found Wilderness woefully unprepared for their own festival. When we arrived at approximately 2 p.m. we found one line out of the tasting room for both tastings(limited) and bottle purchases of wine from other wineries. Both were being conducted on what appeared to be two six-foot bars in their tasting area. We waited approximately 30 minutes to purchase a bottle of wine that we realized we already had at home in our wine cellar. The scenery, however, was very nice. A pig roast/barbecue was also advertised. We tried to purchase, but over the course of 90 minutes we were told it would ‘be another 30 minutes.’ We decided to get back in the wine line but after seeing no movement for 45 minutes we decided to leave. I imagine they sold out of other wineries’ wine and were stuck with a great deal of their own barbecue. Sad — it was a great day and could have/should have been a spectacular showcase for their winery. Maybe we’ll go back someday, but there are so many wineries close by that are doing it right…

We go winery hopping on a regular bases(ok so add in cideries and breweries too!). Wilderness has an amazingly friendly staff inclusive of cats, dogs, and the occasional duck. Very relaxing atmosphere with the ability to try both their wines and other Virginian wines. It may sound odd, but it’s great to be able to try some wines that I may not get to on a road trip. In addition I love that I can go to a winery 20 times and not always be tasting the same wine. We’re looking forward to the release party this weekend and can’t wait for the wine club! Also can’t wait for the brewery to open!

Disappointing experience. We came here on Saturday afternoon for a wine tasting. First, this is a vineyard that does not(yet) serve its own wine, so we had a tasting of wine from other vineyards. It was upsetting to drive all the way out for something I could do at a wine shoppe or at Wegmans. Second, the wine sheet was poorly constructed. The words ran together and it wasn’t clear where one description ended, and the other began. When we arrived, a guy welcomed us as we walked in(nice), but the person who actually did our tasting was indifferent, at best, about our presence. He was borderline rude when we asked questions about the wine, skimped on pours, and was generally unpleasant. Because the tasting room backs up to a gravel lot, the glasses are all plastic. I could forgive any one of these things had the rest been a pleasant experience, but no bathrooms, bad service, plastic dixie cups, and other people’s wine are too many errors to overlook. I would not recommend this place.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and had a great time. It’s a lovely atmosphere and the service was great! The rep, Harry, was friendly and provided a wealth of information. We definitely plan to become regulars! We were able to sample a variety of Virginia wines in one place. Everything was reasonably priced and there was no pressure to buy!

Pros: Plenty of outdoor seating, beautiful vistas, dog friendly, appropriately priced wines, knowledgeable and friendly service, totally up-and-coming. I really can’t wait to see what they’re going to do in the future. They’ve made a fan out of me. Cons: port-a-potties, no/limited food options, no wine from their grapes YET. You can definitely tell Wilderness Run is only going to get better. They’re plans for expansion(event hosting, onsite brewery, working farm) are really exciting. This is the perfect stop to try a bunch of different wine and spend the afternoon relaxing with friends.
