The Kitch’n Authentic Southern & Caribbean Cuisine is now located at 6 S. Main St. in Phoenixville. Takeout only with limited hours — Thursday 11am to 9pm and Friday & Saturday 11am to 3am and a small but focused menu of chicken and fish as proteins. Service was polite but clearly they’re still getting up to speed. Platters come with rice & beans(specifically seasoned«dirty» rice and kidney beans) and your choice of two sides. Portions are more than substantial. I had the Jerk Chicken platter and the Curry Chicken platter. Jerk Chicken — the chicken was spicy with a peppery type of heat. Now, was it authentic, real deal Jerk? I honestly don’t know; I’ll let others more versed in that cuisine weigh in. But tasty it was. I plan to ask for even more heat next time. I’m sure they’ll oblige me. Curry Chicken — the chicken was done up in a yellow curry, not particularly spicy or as flavorful as I had hoped. What I didn’t dig was the way they chop the chicken bones which yields small chips of bone you’ll need to navigate around as you munch. You’ve been warned. The sides I had were collard greens, macaroni & cheese, and potato salad. I enjoyed them all. The collards were flecked with red pepper which I definitely appreciated and the mac & cheese was resplendent with cheesy goodness. I plan to visit again to sample more of their wares. Cuisine of this type is a rarity so they are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I wish them much success and a long stay in Phoenixville.
