What I thought I could eat: A sizzling garden omelette composed of mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes, glued together with feta cheese. The balance of savory and salty followed by the rich battered french toast. A wholesome breakfast for one, that should probably be eaten by a few. What my more realistic date ate: Thinly poured, golden crepes with a plentiful serving of fresh strawberries, covered with whipped cream. Tip: Get here when they open or around noon, this place is cozy and gets crowded.

So, I am on a roll for picking 5-star breakfast cafes recently because I ran into another one yesterday; but, the Midwest Breakfast company just fell short of 5 stars. Why? The portions aren’t as hefty as you may hope and the prices don’t reflect either. It’s a little expensive and the portions of the skillets were FAIR. It’s a cute little café, don’t let the shopping center scare you off. We went in on Saturday at about 11am and it was still packed from the morning. They serve breakfast and lunch and all is very, very good. Our server was extremely kind and offered very detailed recommendations and descriptions of some of their best sellers. I had the Mexican Skillet, no sour cream and it was really, really good. We also had biscuits and gravy which were fantastic and the [meat] skillet that was also very good. The coffee was nothing ordinary either; also very good. Food came out in less than 10 minutes, it was very fast and along with our breakfast, we also ordered a side of french fries to try. The french fries were incredible! As we sat, we noticed other tables ordering lunch and the paninis and sandwiches looked really good so we are most certainly going to come back to try their lunch menu. $ 40 for 3 people isn’t too bad after tip but it’s also not the cheapest in the area. You will most certainly will enjoy the food here though! I’ll be back and will update my review when that time comes!

I enjoy the drive from Lake Villa to Spring Grove for the best breakfast place I have ever been too. It is my every Saturday routine to go up there for a cup of coffee and an omelette or skillet. My taste bud’s are always craving the battered bread. Its like a piece of french toast married a funnel cake and had twins. ha! The servers never allow my coffee cup to be half empty, they stay on top of my caffeine habit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great breakfast joint. It is Friday afternoon, and the battered bread is only one more day away!

This review is not based on the food. It is strictly based on the horrible service we received. As far as the food goes, it is great and that is why I was going every Saturday during my morning lunch break. Let me start by saying that I truly wish I remembered the waitresses name as this review applies to just her. I can tell you(should management read this review) that she worked today, Saturday April 30, 2016 at 9am. I am an employee of Scot Forge, that is less than a minute away on Winn Rd. Two coworkers and I went in this morning for breakfast. We waited to be seated and understood that because the place was so busy, we would have a longer than average wait time. Therefore, once we were seated we made things extremely easy and ordered 3 of the same thing. Everything was going really well. We ate comfortably and we’re satisfied. When we received the bill, one of my coworkers went to pay for the bill. I was going to leave the tip on the table. My second coworker left his wallet at work. Like I said, we were all on a lunch break. I left my wallet in the car. Well, after my coworker paid, we all left outside. I was about to walk back in with my wallet to leave a tip when the waitress came outside and yelled«thanks for the tip guys!» In the most annoyed and sarcastic tone. I told her I was about to walk back in with it and she just said«yeah ok» and walked back inside. Needless to say, I felt like just driving away but I didn’t. I had my coworker go inside and leave the tip. I also want to point out that this waitress knows we were coming from work and has seen many of us there. We were in our uniform. It was completely uncalled for. My coworkers and I have already told other employees of this scenario and I’m sure many will stop going simply because of the service not because of the food. I’m extremely disappointed that nobody from management reached out to apologize also, seeing as how she was loud enough that other patrons at the restaurant heard her.

Great First Impression that follows you through the entire meal. I had the very creative French Toast dipped in Funnel cake batter, then fried — Fantabulous! Each bit was Paradise. We have returned to eat additional meals with each having a terrific presentation & taste. Do not miss this town Treasure.

We came in for the first time this morning and we really liked the place! We were greeted right away and sat promptly, luckily though we had a table for all of us because this place was packed!!! Our server Danielle was kind and very sweet to me and my kiddos. She got us our drinks and food orders right away and before I knew it our food was up in 15 minutes! That’s pretty good for a place that was wall-to-wall! Now I can see why! Very good food, and amazing service!!! We will be back!!!

If you are like me, and need to start your brekfast with great coffee, this is the place to go. The staff is always very friendly and efficient, even though it gets pretty busy on weekends. Delicious food always, especially their pancakes. Best breakfast place in Northeastern Illinois!

Very delicious local joint here. Liked the clean modern(but reminiscent of a wooden farmhouse) vibe, good prices, and big portions. Had the country skillet and it was just what I needed. Breakfast places are pretty hit or «meh» for me and this place was definitely a hit. The servers were quick on the coffee as well even when our glasses weren’t empty which was appreciated.

The only negative to this place is that it isn’t closer to home! We stopped in for a late meal and all enjoyed the food, from the battered toast(think funnel cake meets french toast. yum!) to the pot roast sliders. Despite arriving shortly before they closed, service was friendly. Prices also were very reasonable!

Servers are fast and friendly, the atmosphere is great with a farm house appeal. It’s fairly quiet even when it’s busy. Prices are good, food is always great. Seriously what more could you ask for? I really recommend this business.

On my way back from Lake Geneva, i spotted this place and decided to stop in for a bite to eat. Little did I know that it would turn into a delightful breakfast experience. The staff is amazing, food amazing, the prices were superb, the atmosphere is also top notch. If you’re in the area, stop and eat here.

Came here for breakfast with a group on a busy Sunday. We were seated quickly and consistently attended to. Food came out quickly and our waitress was fun to talk with. I ordered a tall(read: 4) stack of pancakes which I could not finish even though they were delicious, and then a side of fluffy hashbrowns that were up there in the best i’ve had. Great meal all around, quick service, my only complaint is that the place could have been a bit cleaner.

Just stopped in on my way to WI. It’s a small place but it’s very well-decorated and it took me by surprise how nice it was– the outside is a bit dated. I walked in and was greeted right away by a woman that was quiet but very nice and gave me some off-menu options in case I couldn’t find anything I wanted. I ordered French toast and hash browns to go and I only waited about 10 minutes for my order. Best breakfast I had in a while! You can tell it is a different recipe than the usual IHOP or Denny’s and it is well worth the stop.
