Best BBQ in Spring Hill, but far from the best in the KC Area. The dining room is large and decorated in cliché western/cowboy motif. Still it was clean and inviting. We started with some fried mushrooms which were OK. They seemed to be hand bearded but they were bland and were missing some spices to give them more flavor. We had to eat these with a lot of ranch. As for the Q, I had the Wagon Wheel sandwich. The bun was soft but sturdy enough to handle the thinly sliced brisket which was slightly dry. The brisket was topped with onion rings that had the same breading as the mushrooms and also a slice of Swiss-American cheese(Think a white Kraft single, meh). The beans were house made and quite delicious. The sauce options were a sweet and a hot BBQ sauce. Both were good and I preferred the hot it had a nice kick. My friends had the ribs and their comments were that they were a little over done and dry. Not the greatest BBQ experience but also not the worst. If we were back in the area and were hungry for BBQ I would come here again.

I love eating here! It’s a little drive from OP but oh so worth it! I love the fried pickles. Also, I know it’s a BBQ place but they have the Best tenderloin sandwich! A good tenderloin is really hard to find.

Nice place. Old time small-town country feel. Waitresses are nice local gals. Barbecue is good, but the sauce is too sweet for this olé boy — if you follow my expression. I know my kids love it. Food is somewhat pricey for Spring Hill — more like Kansas City prices. If you like sweet-tasting barbecue sauce — this place would be right up your alley.

I ordered ribs to go from here a couple of weeks ago. I felt it was fairly pricey for the quality. –slab was ok. It was it was super greasy. –2 side salads –nothing more than iceberg lettuce with a little bit of cheese on top $ 2.79 per salad. What a joke! I’m curious what a $ 1 more would’ve gotten me with the«dinner salad». –2 sides of beans(prob about ¼ cup) $ 2.60. I could’ve stopped in at price chopper and made a small better quality salad and heated up a can of bush’s for a fraction of the cost. The girl at the front wasn’t very friendly either. I’d rather drive in to Olathe for better bbq and better service. You definitely don’t get what you pay for here. This was my second time here. I had lunch here about a year ago. Again, average quality and average service. The people reviewing with 4&5 stars must not know what good bbq is.

This is a really good BBQ place in a city with lots of good BBQ. The sandwiches were huge. The sauce is a sugary, molasses sweet style, after Rich Davis KC Masterpiece. Fried pickles are good, crisp and hot. Got a lot of burnt ends, were tender and tasty.

Great BBQ! Kid friendly to boot. Service is fast. We have eaten here a couple of times a month for past few years. Enjoy the BBQ sandwiches and the beans the best.

Great service, locally owned, and killer food. Check out their meat by the pound, which is pick up only, but is a great value! Wagon wheel sandwich is great, and their onion rings are easily the best in the area.

Good quality barbeque for the area. One of the better sandwiches you’ll find around the county. This store always serves savory specials like sandwiches, sliced meats, and smoked sausage; certainly such steals are only served in the Sunflower State. Take advantage of these specials for an inexpensive meal. I paid for the meal I had with two good friends of mine, and the price was a trivial $ 5. After you order your food, you shall receive your meal in a New York minute. Exceptional efficiency from otherwise everyday amateur employees. Don’t forget to order your french fries. As for atmosphere, it was admirable but also ambushed by the utterly appaling animosity from the abhorrant employees. Truly a rude server who did not refill my drink for a long time. Not the better option for customer service I must confess!

K & M is not going to win any customer service awards. Thanks to their curt front staff(hostess). How rude! The sauces tasted like alcohol. Almost like mouth wash. I promised I brushed. Anyhow, in most cases, I would say yes to alcohol, but with BBQ sauce, when your ingredients give no indication of alcohol, one becomes worried and is left to wonder. To wonder if what they just ingested will cause cirrhosis of the liver or worse, the infamous BBQ poisoning! Cue the music, dun dun dunnn! The meat was below average. If we were judging bseed on 90’s boy bands, K & M would be comparable to 98 degrees. Getting back to it, the cuts of meat caused worry. For instance, the pulled pork was Chewy, and the sausage cuts were miniscule. As well, I’m not sure how they got in so much smokey flavour, either. It was intense. More intense than the late great Macho Man Randy Savage. Oh yeah!!! This gave me the suspicion of some type of fowl play, possibly artificial flavouring, like if the meat started huffing aerosol cans of liquid smoke. I reckon if true, these pieces of meat need an intervention. Vicariously I’m now an abuser. Sincerely, Five days later, I’m happy to report my stomach has gotten rid of all the toxins. I’m no longer huffing artificially smoked meat. I’ll continue with my sobriety with the help from my bbq friends!

The ribs are good. The brisket seems to be dried up every time I order it. I won’t order it again. Average bbq.

Ambiance-3 Stars Prices/value– 3 Stars Food — 3 Stars Menu options –3 Stars Service– 3 Stars Would I go again? If I was in the area and hungry for barbecue, yes. What would I have again? 2 things… The killer sandwich and the fried pickles. I would say the ambience is classic cowboy. John Wayne movie posters and colorful license plates adorn the walls. The noise level can be quite loud on a Saturday night when the restaurant is full. So, not the best first date choice. But, you’re here for barbecue! Who needs idle chitchat! The attention of the servers can be a little spotty, so you may need to be proactive if you want a refill on your beverage. Think of John Wayne, what would he do? Well, he wouldn’t remain parched, now would he? If you are a big feller… Or just a starving débutante, I highly recommend you try the killer sandwich and the fried pickles. The Killer Sandwich: The sandwich was huge! More than enough meat for several sandwiches. The turkey and the ham were moist and juicy with a mild smoky flavor. Put this juicy meat on a specialty bun, like onion, brioche, or pretzel, and the sandwich would be a clear five-star winner. I also highly recommend their spicy barbecue sauce. It is sweet and textured with what appears to be chunks of ground pepper and spices. The Fried Pickles: were extra crispy on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. This was made possible by a light cornmeal batter. Crunch! They serve it with ranch dressing and house made honey mustard. The burnt ends: were way too burnt for my taste. There were a few of the larger pieces that had enough interstitial fat that they remained succulent but, as a whole, most of it was dried and crusty. The entire portion was saturated in barbecue sauce. An unsuccessful attempt to keep the meat moist. Unfortunately, it just overwhelmed the flavor of the beef.:( The really big misses: Coleslaw: The cabbage was crispy and fresh but the dressing was extraordinarily watery and sweet. French fries: Old, dry No matter what restaurant you go to, everyone has a bad day, or sometimes you just order the wrong thing. So, don’t be that person! Order the killer sandwich and the fried pickles and get fat, happy, and well fed!

I like K and M, they are close to home. Many times we will pick up a few pounds of pulled pork for parties… I always get the onion rings too. Excellent every time.

Heard about this place from a fellow tennis coach. Took my tennis team there and they loved it. Very good food served fast with a pleasant waitress. The price was right and I would go back.

I highly recommend this place. Stopped in for dinner on our way through spring hill and we were not disappointed. The«tator twister» is a great appetizer and all their meats were very good. Only reason I gave 4⁄5 was the brisket, which was sliced very thin and very well done unlike traditional beef brisket. Still tasty though.

The barbecue is good, but mine has come out cold multiple times which is just sad! If you are ordering the barbecue bowl, order the large because the regular is like a side dish. The okra is fantastic, which means I’ll probably be back.

I give this place 5 stars, based on the following(in order of impressiveness): 1. My entrée, the BBQ bowl. Choice of smoked meat(burnt ends), topped with their potato casserole(like a cheesy potato salad), baked beans, BBQ sauce, and shredded cheese. The regular size was under $ 7 and the perfect portion. No need for sides! It was a unique combination of some of my favorite things, and was totally delicious! 2. The super quick and friendly service. I read other reviews that said otherwise, but on a Friday evening we got greeted, seated right away and served VERY quickly. 3. The fried pickles! My husband got a combo platter with beef brisket and pulled pork, bake beans and fries/rings. Rings were good and crispy, the beans were sweet and good. The brisket was the only disappointing thing I sampled. It had a slight«been cooked and warmed for a while» taste. I will definitely be back!

22 years ago, I lived in Spring Hill. I was a 12 year old kid, and the only place in town you could really get and kind of a meal at,(wait…what, there’s a Sonic now?!) outside of cooking at home, was this little white shack that served some of the biggest sandwiches a kid like me had ever seen. There was a pizza place, next to the grocery store, but it was more for kids to gather at and play video games after school than to eat at. Through my entire life, I’ve remembered that shack, those enormous sandwiches and that sauce that i will never forget. I’ve had BBQ in Texas, Kentucky, Kansas City… and nothing has ever compared for me. I left Spring Hill 22 years ago, and I’ve never returned. And I’ve lived comfortably in a big Northern City ever since, but to this day, I still tell people of the best BBQ i’ve ever had in my life at this little place in Spring Hill Kansas. Playing around on a boring evening on the internet today, lead me to pulling up the Google Street View of Spring Hill, and reminiscing about Middle School… the one grocery store… the pizza place, and I honestly expected to see the BBQ joint i remembered so fondly boarded up and vacant. So, when I saw pictures of a big, beautiful new building and a full parking lot, i was thrilled. Hats off to this group. I wish you continued success, and hope you’re leaving life long memories on a whole new group of kids passing thru your town.

My main reason for coming is here is that it is within walking distance to AGC, which we are always delivering or shipping at. This is your second of only two options, the first being Sonic. I’m tired of fast food, so I decided to try this barbeque place. Let me also state that I am from Texas so I know good barbeque and have high standards. Firstly, their fried pickles are amazing. They’re a bit spicy but with a tad bit of ranch are almost perfect. I absolutely hated the sausage. It was awful. I’m not sure what kind it was or what it was seasoned with but it didn’t taste right. The ribs are usually excellent, if not a bit dry. The turkey is tender and makes for tasty sandwiches a day later. Skip the pork. Dry, flavorless and is only decent when doused with barbeque sauce. I’m looking forward to trying the catfish on catfish Tuesdays but until then, I’m going to steer clear. Service is usually wonderful and I love the country décor and theme inside but I just wasn’t blown away with the food. I’ll be back… if only for the fried pickles!

I hate to be the downer of all the other reviews but my lunch was truly 2.5 — 3 stars. I saw the Check Please episode which all three people raved about the BBQ, the ribs, the sides, the service and atmosphere. I figured I would give it a go. I don’t know if it was an off day but I didn’t experience anything like the Check Please people did. The service was nice but incredibly scattered. I noticed other servers who seemed more with it and wished I had them serve my table. We ordered fried okra to start. It was fine but not worth $ 5.50. I split the deluxe dinner which was 3 ribs, two choices of meat and two sides. We had the beef and ham with slaw and beans. I thought when splitting an entrée we would each get a plate rather than one plate and the other person use the main plate. We asked for an additional plate and if my hubby hadn’t gone up front to get one he would have waited almost 10 minutes for the plate. The beans were touted as amazing on Check Please. I didn’t think so. They were just sweet style with a little piece of meat. The slaw was creamy, carton style so nothing amazing there either. The ribs were fall of the bone tender but seemed really fatty and were served sauced. I would appreciate non sauced so I can sauce as needed. The beef was ok. It had flavor but it wasn’t awesome. The ham didn’t seem to have any flavor was just meh. We didn’t finish either the beef or the ham. As for their sauces, I really liked the spicy sauce. The up front flavor was sweet but the lingering flavor was heat-ish. This is another BBQ place I have traveled to outside the Metro and another I won’t go back to. I will stick to the tried and true favorites I know in KC.
