Yippee! Johnson County has a real LOCAL brewery now! You know what else? Their beer is really good! Red Crow Brewing is going to become a regular hang out for sure. Their core beers are named after influential ladies in the lives of the owners… We start with Isabelle, a Belgian Blonde with nice Belgian funk(without the banana esters) in a malty base. This was my wife’s favorite beer. Next is Louise, the American IPA, she was everything you expect from this style. Citrusy and refreshing with a nice bitter. Third Frances, American Pale Ale, this might as well be Louise’s little sister. Great beer and was in a tie as my favorite beer. Who was the tie with? Elaine, Rye Porter, superbly done and terrific example of this beer style. Great fall/winter beer that was not harsh but had great grain character. Lastly was Donna, American Wheat, this beer was a little too bitter in my opinion. Not my favorite but still drinkable but with a lingering bitterness I wouldn’t have more than one. The taproom is clean and open with a garage door leading to a large patio area. Service was excellent and prompt which was nice beings there were probably 30 thirsty beer drinkers there on a Saturday night. Best part is that this place is in JoCo which means I can be here in about 10 minutes instead of having to venture downtown to get a pint that is brewed locally. Cheers!

The atmosphere at Red Crow is what really makes it special. Spacious inside, gorgeous outdoor space. Beer is solid. They have a Belgian Blonde, a Pale Ale, Hoppy Wheat and an IPA. The also have a Rye Porter which wasn’t ready, so I was unable to sample. Owners are very friendly and excited to talk about their business. They have snacks but also invite local food trucks. Red Crow is family friendly as well with a spacious grassy area, games and a chalkboard that’s like a magnet for kids.

Phenomenal setting and great beer. We will definitely be back! Great variety of food trucks scheduled per their event listings on Facebook. Great for the southern Johnson County area. We’ve visited numerous breweries throughout Colorado and the Pacific Northwest in addition to the many great breweries in Kansas City and this one stacks up amongst the best. Any opening weekend hiccups should be offered as suggestions rather than criticism. Give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed!

Today was opening day for this place. My husband and I pull up to a place that is landscaped beautifully! We walk in and there are plenty of tables and chairs, which all were filled. They have barstools around the bar as well. Two TVs above the bar was playing the Royals game. The huge garage door was opened and opens to a beautiful spacious deck. There were about 5 or 6 people behind the bar. There was only one register. I stood at the bar for 20 minutes and did not get served. I feel the workers weren’t prepared for opening day. They spent most of their time huddled around the register instead of taking orders or pouring beer. You can sample all 5 beers, 2 oz. each for $ 8. You can sample one for $ 2. All 16 oz. beers run $ 5. They also sold snacks for a buck or two. It really looked like a nice place for local beer, just upset I couldn’t sample them. I will give them more time to get organized and then I’ll go back.
