I ordered a medium triple berry sundae and it looked like a small imo. Then my dad pointed out there was no AC and it’s an ice cream place? The ice cream wasn’t bad but portion/size was a bit of a problem. The service was okay, the older man would speak pretty low and it was difficult to hear him but that’s not his fault. We got our ice cream pretty fast though.

The burgers here are bomb! The entire menu of milkshakes, ice cream & everything in-between is what really makes summer or any hot day special. The customer service is good and useful. Fosters is the only place I know of in spring valley that has so much styles of ice cream to offer. Come here and try them all!

The only thing saving this place is that it has ice cream. Cash only, run down décor & sign, and a guy behind the counter that was not very friendly… At all.

The food isn’t bad, but the angry Asian couple behind the counter aren’t very nice. I’m also not a fan of watching them deal with cash and then turn around and touch my food with their bare hands without washing them.

Fosters just isn’t what it used to be. I used to come here in high school quite often for burgers and ice cream. I most likely was just young and oblivious to what was going on around this place but I used to enjoy it a lot more than I do now. The place appears to be owned by the same people as it used to when I would come here years ago. The customer service is not spot on at all, everyone who works here does not make you feel at home. The place doesn’t have any sort of upgrade anywhere, I feel the signs that advertise the food is the same as when it first opened. The place feels pretty dirty and ran down. I feel like it will only be in business until the place literally falls down. With all that said I’m sure I’ll continue to come here for ice cream due to its the only place you can to in Spring Valley. I always enjoy worms in dirt and a banana split! I wouldn’t ever go out of my way to eat here but if I want ice cream and I’m in the valley I’ll be here. By the way its CASHONLY!

Just walked out without a refund. Cashier/Cook reached in barehand to the bucket of uncooked fries right after handling my money. No gloves and didn’t wash his hands. Then he proceeded to clean the grill with the same spatula he used to flip my burger. I was really looking forward to an Old Fashion Burger. Not what I expected. Too grossed out to eat it.

Burgers are ok, they taste like the frozen ones from my local supermarket, my son loves the icecream here. The young man working the register looks like he hates his job.

Enjoyed the food and what’s even better is they cook it fresh right after you order. If you’re patient then you won’t be sorry! Place is a bit old and needs to be fixed up but that’s why you just order it to go! What I loved the most was the Oreo twister… It wasn’t your ordinary Oreo Mcflurry from McDonald’s or any other fast food place that offers ice cream with chocolate/cookie goodness. Ice cream quality was amazing AND each bite had Oreo in it. I have yet to try the other offers they have.

I have been coming to this Foster Freeze since I was a little girl. The same owners still own the place. The burgers are the best.

Only had ice cream here. The portions are generous to say the least. And they were really good, the wife had a small dip cone and I have a reeses freeze with dip cone chocolate in it. The medium I ordered was the size of the large everywhere else you definitely get your money’s worth. They only take cash though. My only complaint is that they need to clean their ice cream machine, the ice cream is slightly yellow and not bright white as it should be. Thus indicating bacteria growth.

I hadn’t been in a fosters freeze since I was s child in the 70s but every time I saw this place I wanted to stop. Just didn’t have time. The other day I did and I was not disappointed. A double old fashioned cheeseburger and small fries to go was $ 6.24 with tax. The guy who wrote the order kind of stumbled through it but got it right and knew their menu so no foul there. The small fries turned out to be plenty, they were those fat soft crinkle cut fries and were fresh to a fault almost burning my mouth 5 minutes after opening the bag. The burger had that delicious charred taste I was looking for. I was on a budget so didn’t get a shake(had koolaid in my thermos) but had I had 3 more bucks would have gone for one of their shakes in about a dozen flavors. Definitely going back.

Went here last night with the wife… really excited cause I thought all the Foster’s Freezes had shut down. Pretty disappointed that they ONLYTAKECASH, its 2015 people there is a ton of ways you can take cards and keep the expenses low. Did not have cash and was not aware until we placed an order.

Usually I only come here for dessert items, but this time I decided to try it for lunch. I am glad that we came here because the food tasted pretty good. I got the old fashioned burger combo and was happy with how good it tasted and I loved the fries. The price didn’t seem too bad for the meals that we got. The only downside I had to coming here(especially as a pregnant woman) is that there is no bathroom for people dining in. Luckily we don’t live far so I didn’t have to wait too long for a bathroom. I was too full for dessert so we came back later to treat my daughter to dessert after her dance performance at school. I got the banana split and it was so good.

I love everything, but the prices. My fav, large chocolate dipped cone. Price $ 280. Ouch. Otherwise, beyond happy to have a fosters nearby. They are rare these days!

This place has been here forever, and the same Asian couple is still running it. I can’t say I’ve tasted the food here, but I can vouch for the desserts! Everything from the shakes to their ice cream blizzards are good. My favorite is their cherry shakes. The ice cream used is thick and creamy. The cherries are juicy and they put a lot in the shake. Giving it flavor and good size pieces in it. Yummy!!! I’ll drive out spring valley just to satisfy my craving. This is the only fosters freeze around and worth trying.

FF is a neighborHOOD classic. I’ve only seen this and another FFIN El Cajon in SD. Don’t let the charming location or parking lot it’s in scare you, you’ll be fine. I’ve coming here since I was a kid and it’s significantly cheaper than going to Dairy Queen get your sundae fix at. It’s a old school ice cream joint that isn’t full of glitz and glamour but the ice cream especially the chocolate dipped cones hit the spot. The food even is pretty good too I like the French fries and cheeseburgers. Give it a try.
