We had a very pleasant dinner here this evening. The waiter was friendly and fun to talk to, and the service was prompt. We even received two complimentary appetizers. I loved my steak and sauteed onion dish, and my fiancé enjoyed his chicken entrée. The flan was delicious. The only thing I would have changed was the volume of the music, which was too loud. I’d be happy to have dinner here again!

So delicious and fresh. Authentic stuff and they have Americanized dishes as well to cater to those who like that stuff as well. Love it here. Great bar as well.

The other reviews are spot on. It is a hole in the wall. It is much nicer inside than you would ever imagine when looking at the entrance. I just came back from vacation in Mexico and I was craving the flavors of green sauce and tortillas. I was not dissappointed. Everything was delicious. I will add what other reviews missed. The sangria will knock your socks off. The service was super friendly and attentive, even to my party of 5 gringos ages 17 to 80. We are all fans of that other famous restaurant just up the block, but after our last meal there the prices had just gone sky high. $ 38 for flautas and a combo plate. It was great, but just too expensive, and that was take out. Guadalajara had much better service, hecho en Mexico coke, food was fresh hot and nicely presented, bathrooms were very clean, and the other patrons, none of who were gringos, were very friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was back on vacation! I also want to mention the attached store with everything from corn husks to cowboy boots, belts, and pinatas! Clean and we’ll organized, now I know where to shop for my next tortilla press. In summary, authentic delicious food in an out of the way spot. Not as sketchy as some have portrayed; the tri states largest Ferrari dealer is just down the road. If it was in a nicer spot I’d add the 5th star. Well worth a visit. And PS I did wait until the next day to write this review just to be safe!

this is the place. if you want authentic mexican food, and you don’t feel like flying to mexico for dinner, then this is it. no two ways about it. this is the real deal for mexican. the whole thing is an experience all on its own. the food is very good, not but costs more than you would have expected to pay for the neighborhood.

Truly authentic Mexican food. I’ll even boldly declare this place the best Mexican food in the NY tri-state area. I used to live in Southern Cali and this is the only place I know of around here that comes close to that good. Wonderful staff too.

I tried this place upon recommendation from Unilocal reviews. I have had great Mexican food from California, Arizona, Texas, and Mexico. This is truly one of the best. Don’t pass this up! The address, which I updated is not at 11 East Central Avenue, it is at 180 East Central. If you are new to the area you might think that it is not going to be a good experience, but you will be pleasantly surprised.

Perfect authentic spot. Tongue tacos out of this world. Much bigger place then you expect from outside. Nice worm authentic design. Huge bar in the second room. Very attentive service, especially for our young kids. Extras on the house. We will be back soon.

Solid food, friendly service even to non Hispanics and a nicely decorated huge place with two bars. What a difference to the indo/Pakistan place next door. Food came out hot and fast, got chips, three salsas and complimentary appetizers. Both of us had enchiladas, one green sauce, the other with red. Prices very affordable. Too full to try dessert. Chairs and tables covered in leather are interesting and make for the ambience.

Could have been four star. I had great hopes for this place but unfortunately our food was only lukewarm even though the place was almost empty. Their idea of a burrito is two small tortillas with some meat inside. I had carnitas and my wife had one of the chicken dishes which was actually very good, just not hot. As an aside, the chairs are brutal to sit on for anything over five minutes.

Awesome authentic tacos! El Bandido has nothing on this little authentic place! This is my favorite Mexican place in the area!

Update review since now I frequent the place. definitely come here . Family friendly saw many families also bought my own. It’s a dive that needs attention from non locals … This is quality Mexican . Please disregard the façade of the building and enter and have a family Mexican dinner. There is a bar and ample seating area . The wait staff super cool.

Don’t be turned off by the dingy strip mall it’s in. It’s a true gem of authentic Mexican cuisine… and I’m only so-so on a lot of Mexican food. Yummy!

WHAT A GREATEXPERIANCE! So after church me and a friend always look for a great place to eat, and we did not think this place would be it. First off the neigborhood is very unappealing, and you think that there is not good food around. THISISTHE real meaning of HOLEINTHEWALL. The weirdest thing happen to my friend and I when we walked in this resturant. We was tranported to another location! Okay maybe not that dramatic but it definitley didn’t feel like we were in Spring Valley anymore. This place is tiny on the outside… but huge inside. The décor was AMAZING. The building is like a optical illusion because of how small it looks outside and how large it is inside. Food was great and they give you a very good portion size. I recommend sitting at the bar, because our bartender was GREAT! Overall we had a amazing time! NOMORE… STOPREADINGTHISANDGO! Don’t be like me and keep reading all these other reviews… just take this review and run there: P …it’s a great place!

Tacos, especially the barbacoa or carnitas variety, are a great choice any time of day. Especially when preempted with a gallon of Modelo and a sonic boom mariachi soundtrack. Also feel free to try some lengua if you haven’t already had the chance. Don’t overlook this gem.

Talk about a hidden gem! From the outside the place doesn’t look very appealing, but give it a chance. The food is outstanding, the people are super nice and it gives you a little piece of Mexico.

I was in the mood for some Mexican food and decided to try this local restaurant that I’ve never been to. I read previous Unilocal reviews which were pretty good and decided to come here. It’s a small restaurant connected to a little supermarket. They have a television that plays nonstop soap operas which is entertaining while waiting for your meal. The unlimited tortilla chips and salsa was awesome — couldn’t stop munching on them! The down side was that the service was pretty slow and the entrée I ordered, chicken mole poblano had a weird taste to it. I wish i ordered something else. The rice wasn’t that great and the refried beans tasted salty to me. I tried to pour hot sauce all over my meal to give it a better taste, but even that failed. Overall, I tasted better Mexican food than this and wouldn’t come here again.

Tastey dishes, as good as most Mexican restaurants. Yet another inexpensive alternative to most other places. The $ 2.00 tacos are as awesome as vendors I’ve eaten at in Mexico. For the people who think that awesome Mexican can only be found in upscale restaurants, you probably have not been to Mexico. Some of the best food ever can be found at street vendors in Mexico. The place was remodeled about a year ago. Very authentic décor…

A local family-run Mexican restaurant. Fresh, authentic food — not chain-style. Most of the typical Mex dishes — tacos, enchiladas, tortas, etc. The chilaquiles were a fried type that I hadn’t had before, but good — a dish not available everywhere. Salsas and pico de gallo were tasty and fresh. Service is attentive. Overall pleasant and a good value if you like authentic Mex. I work nearby, and have lunch there at least once a week in an area with several Mexican restaurants. If it wasn’t good, I wouldn’t be there.

What a great authentic Mexican place in Spring Valley! They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa AND tiny chorizo tacos! The prices are very reasonable — the tacos are $ 1.95 each, tortas are $ 5.95, and most entrees were between $ 9.95 and $ 13.95. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken and beef flautas, which were very good! The service was quick and our waitress was attentive. While the storefront and location leave much to be desired, the décor inside the restaurant felt very authentic and cozy. I definitely recommend!

Defintly the best margaritas around. They use real juice and real lime and lemon; none of that syrup crap. The margaritas taste super light; before you know it your feeling a buzz. The comp salsa and chips are great. Nice homemade spicy salsa, and non-greasy chips. If you want authentic tacos, this is where to get them. Try all four; chorizo, al pastor, bistec, and pork; they even have tongue. The place is located in a crappy looking shopping center, when you walk in you completely forget that your in spring valley. Defintly my favorite Mexican restaurant around rockland county.
