Jack Frost saved the day. AC would run, but not cool. One company diagnosed a failed motor and quoted about $ 900 to get it running again. Even then, there would be no guarantee that the unit could be saved, and they also quoted a new system at $ 8000. As a second opinion, I called Jack Frost. He spent lots of time with me on the phone listening to the issue and previous diagnosis. He felt like he could get me up and running for less than $ 600. His technicians showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the real problem. Two components required replacement. Because of the time I spent on the phone with Jack, his technicians were prepared with all the necessary components. The fix took them about one hour start to finish. AC is now running great, and I can always call them back at no charge if this fix doesn’t take. The total charge was less than $ 400, and I would like to address another review that was left concerning the price. Yes, the components are cheaper when you price them online. What I paid for was Jack’s experience and expertise in diagnosing. Additionally, his two technicians spent 1 hour each in the hot summer sun on a Saturday to get my family cool again. He will be the first person I call the next time I have a problem.

I called Jack Frost to come check out my A/C unit which had stopped working. They spent less than ten minutes working. The problem? A part had to be replaced called a capacitor. The bill? $ 395. So after they left, I googled the part number for the part they replaced. Guess how much it costs? Less than $ 30. So I called Jack Frost and talked to them. They said that the part they put in is way better than the part they replaced and that it came with a three year warranty.(The part they replaced had lasted 7 years — since I bought the A/C unit, and that seems pretty good in comparison to 3 years.) They also stated to me that they were business owners and had a lot of overhead costs to cover. I told them how unhappy I was. They did not agree however to refund any of the exorbitant amount they charged me for doing very little. Why was someone able to take advantage of me like this? It was a three day weekend and very hot. A family member with chronic and serious health problems couldn’t do without A/C for a long, hot three day weekend. And I was worried about getting someone else out on such short notice. So I trusted the repair men. They made it seem like the part they were replacing was unusual and totally out of the norm– hence the expense. All I can say is shame on Jack Frost.

had Jack Frost install a brand new American Standard HVAC system & a year later I’m regretting my decision. The installation was terrible. 1. Your furnace needs to be installed on 9 in. risers. My furnace was installed on bricks duct taped together. 2. They used a duct board plenum instead of a pre-fabbed metal. Gravity has taken over & now there is a leak on the bottom causing hot attic air to be brought into the return. 3. The furnace should be supported from the attic support beams with 2 metal straps. Mine is supported with only 1. 4. You have two openings on the back end, 1 is your primary drain line & other is a secondary. My 2nd was never installed. Instead mine has a plug in it. My primary drain line that comes out over the emergency drip pan had an r-trap installed but it was not glued into place, just fitted together. Obviously, it wasn’t water tight & began to leak. The unglued pipe was wrapped in the black foam pipe insulation but instead of using pipe insulation tape, they wrapped it in electric tape. Then to cover the shoddy electric tape job, they covered the pipe in mastic. Because the trap was not sealed properly & there wasn’t enough slope to encourage the water to move down the drain, the pipe leaked into my attic & through my 2nd floor ceiling. I now have a 3×5 foot section of ceiling & insulation missing with a fan drying it out that will need to be replaced. My «professional» install has ended up costing me a lot to fix. I DONOT recommend Jack Frost. They do poor quality work.
