This bbq joint is outstanding. There are several great items on the menu but for me, their pulled pork is the best I have ever had.

Corkscrew is by far the best BBQ joint I have been to. The best thing about Corkscrew is not only are the meats amazing, but the side dishes are just as good. Most BBQ places have good meats but sides that are lacking and bland. Their potato salad is unique and so flavorful. Mac n cheese is so creamy. I even love their cole slaw and I don’t even like cole slaw. I always get the Corkscrew potato with brisket instead of pork. It’s big enough for two meals. Their cobbler is fantastic as well. The only downside to Corkscrew is the long lines, but it is worth the wait. During the week post lunch rush is a good time to go if possible. If you go on the weekend expect an hour wait.

This place has fantastic food. I have eaten a lot of BBQ and CorkScrew has the best pork ribs and brisket I have ever had! These pork ribs are even better than Franklin’s in Austin, Texas(in my opinion). The portions are huge and even the sides are delicious. Half a rack of pork ribs, a pound of brisket, and pint of mac and cheese was more than enough for 2 people. We went on a weekday and by the time they opened at 11am there was a line wraped around the building. They have a numbering system in place so the first 26 groups to show up dont have to stand in a line until 11am, but by 11am if you have a number you better be ready to get in line! My one tiny complaint is if Corkscrew has this numbering system in place they should enforce the rules. A guy with a number greater than everyone around me in line was the first person to order. The woman taking his order was well aware that he didnt have #1. An easy enough solution would have been to tell the guy to go find where he needed to be in line.

Definitely a winner. This is the closest you can come to Franklin’s BBQ here in Houston. The lines are considerably shorter and it took us roughly 20 minutes at noon on a Tuesday. I ordered ¼ lbs(3 slices) of the lean brisket and a rib. I tried to be conservative as usually my eyes are bigger than my stomach. The brisket had a nice flavor to it, very reminiscent of Franklin’s brisket. The rib was unusually big for a pork rib(who said hormones and GMO is a bad thing :-)) and the taste was pretty good. The BBQ sauce is excellent and complemented the meats. Definitely the best BBQ I have tried in Houston.

Corkscrew BBQ has very good, moist BBQ brisket and fantastic pork ribs. And the sides are very good too – I liked the coleslaw, and I loved the baked beans. The baked beans’ sauce is a bit thicker than what I’ve usually had – they’re sweet and then have a bit of a spicy aftertaste. Overall, I’d give Corkscrew’s food a big thumbs up! But you need to know the lay of the land before you go so that you don’t need to wait in line too long. We arrived at around 10:30 on a Saturday(they open at 11:00) – and we had to wait until about 11:15 to order and got our food at 11:20. Make sure you grab a number from the 3-ring binder that’s by the door right when you get there. While the line moved pretty fast, it was a little frustrating that some people came early and then let their friends who arrived late cut in line with them…

I thought, Oboy, another killer BBQ place. I ordered lean brisket, beans, potato salad, and apple cobbler. Brisket ***** Beans — overcooked *** Potato salad — potatos too soft — tastless *** Cobbler average — not enough apples **** Overall, 3.5 stars.

AMAZINGBARBECUE… Do yourself a favor and just try it… you can thank me later. Tender almost buttery tasting brisket…(prime) Beef rib that is out of this world… not too tender where it falls off the bone because it’s over cooked but also not undercooked. It falls just right… and then it falls in your mouth All great homemade sides with the potato salad being the star attraction. Whether it’s cream cheese or sour cream, it is just addicting. I’ve only tried the blueberry cobbler for dessert… surprise surprise it’s also amazing… Just give it a try… Though caution… more than likely there will be a line. Don’t fret… it moves quickly.

Wow, wow, wow! Between the corn hole, the Mac n cheese and the ribs, I don’t ever want to leave! What a great experience. Super kid friendly and delicious. Totally worth the wait! Ooooooh Mama! This is some good BBQ that they have to offer here at CorkScrew. I’ve heard the rumors. I’ve read the reviews. I’ve been looking forward to having a taste for a while. Alas! Just like everything else for me, what deems to be one of the best is located so freaking far for me! Well, on a beautiful Thursday morning, I actually had to go to the Doctors to get a epidural steroid injection on my neck for my pain from a car accident I had a few months back. By the time I was done, it was almost 11 am and I was hungry. So I pulled out my trusted phone, opened the Unilocal app, and see what was nearby. CorkScrew was only a couple of miles away! Whaaaaat?! I hopped in the car and drove here. As I was driving by, there was already a short line formed in front of the restaurant. I was hoping that the line wouldn’t take too long because I needed to go back into town and into work. By the time I’d parked and got myself in the line, it was approximately 11:05 am. The line had already started moving, and as I waited in line, I witnessed with my own eyes how that short line became a real long line. Unilocaler Mike M. mentioned that he arrived around 11:15 am and it took him almost 50 minutes to get to order. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case for me. I waited in line for a mere 10 minutes before I got all the way to the front. On the wall inside, there’s a blackboard next to the line where they post their specials and their WiFi password. However, if you’re still in line outside and you want that password, you can either(1) go in and read it or(2) find the password in one of the pictures in Unilocal. You have the options of dining inside or outside. While I was here it seemed like most people chose to sit outside. It was a beautiful day and the outside seating was covered and they had more tables that could cater to larger groups. I personally chose to sit inside because A/C! That’s why! I was kind of hoping that they’d offer what most BBQ places offer: meat platter with brisket, sausage, and ribs. However, the way it works here is you have to order the meat by the pound. For any meat, you have to get at least ¼ lb of it(or rib by the piece). This means, if you want the three meats, you’ll have to get at least ¼ lb brisket, ¼ lb of sausage, and at least one piece of rib($ 3). You want more ribs? get at least ½ lb(½ rack) which will run you $ 13. I’m under the impression that most BBQ places have average tasting sausage so I opted to skip the sausage and decided to get ½ lb or brisket(mixed moist and lean) and 2 ribs. I also decided to get the potato salad after reading Unilocaler Greg F. review about how good it is and some mac n cheese. It didn’t take them too long to prepare my meal. I would say less than 10 minutes, I had my food in front of me and they definitely didn’t disappoint! The brisket was just super duper tasty delicious. Even the lean brisket was juicy enough that you probably wouldn’t need a BBQ sauce to eat it with(and they have some goddamn good BBQ sauce here at CorkScrew). The ribs? Mmm mmm mmm nom nom nom good. I came here with a super high expectation and I have to say that my expectation was matched and exceeded. It was that good! As for the potato salad? I’ll agree that it was good, but it wasn’t that much better than the potato salad from other places. The mac and cheese was just your average mac and cheese. Nothing to rave about. All in all, by the time I was done eating here, it was a little past noon. So, the whole experience from the time I parked, waited in line, ate, and left took a little over an hour. Wasn’t a bad experience at all. However, your mileage may vary, obviously. If you’re a BBQ fan, this is a must try place. Houston’s BBQ game is definitely upping the ante!

The only thing bad about this place is the wait. It was hard to park in Old Town Spring and the line was out the door, but once we ordered, it really didn’t take that long to get our food. Everyone who worked here was so nice and I loved the outdoor picnic benches on a beautiful Spring day. The food was amazing. Brisket that just melts in your mouth, sausage that was incredible and a loaded baked potato was enough to share with 3 people. Even the sliced bread was ridiculously soft. I thought the Mac and cheese was just ok, but didn’t really come for the sides anyway. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

CorkScrew BBQ, the BBQ Gods smile down upon thee. With amazingly tender brisket, fall of the bone dino beef ribs, and silky smooth turkey breast, this establishment deserves a crown. I really like their new, larger venue. There’s plenty of tables indoors and out. It’s not quite as large as Killen’s, but the lines are long nonetheless. So about that line. Yes, like with any good BBQ joint, you’re going to wait. The line moves relatively well, though. And once you get to the front, the service a great. I generally don’t go to BBQ places for their sides and ancillaries, but I do have to give a special shout out to CorkScrew’s Spinach Salad. It’s not a side, per se, but I was very impressed with how fresh the salad was and how tasty the green chile ranch dressing was that came with it. Combine that salad with a side of their vinaigrette dressing and some smoked turkey and you’ve got yourself a healthy, low-cal, protein packed meal that’s also delicious. CorkScrew is pretty far north, from my perspective. However, if you’re in the mood for exceptional BBQ, it’s well worth the drive.

Oh my goodness, this is amazing BBQ! Maybe I’m biased because it’s closer to me than the other BBQ restaurants I love, but I would say it’s my top choice for BBQ. I had ¼ lb of moist brisket, ¼ lb of lean brisket, one rib, mac and cheese, beans, and peach cobbler.(I also tried the turkey and sausage.) With the exception of the beans, I am completely in love with every single thing I ate here. I’m the kind of person that grazes through the 5 star reviews and goes straight to the 1 star. I was trying to temper my expectations for Corkscrew with those 1 star reviews, and it must’ve worked. I was super impressed with the tenderness/flavor of the lean brisket, the juiciness of the moist brisket, the creamy/peppery mac and cheese, the juicy/spicy sausage, the moist/tender turkey, and… the peach cobbler, which tastes like a semi-crisp, semi-soft sugary cookie with luscious peaches. So the beans are good and spicy, but not my favorite. They have more of a solid/mashed texture than my preference, which is soupy.(I’m eating all my leftovers cold and it still tastes so good!) I arrived an hour before they opened and was 7th in line. I would advise going an hour early, grabbing a number from the binder(if you’re 1 – 26), walking around old town spring to kill some time, then lining up five till the hour. I recommend getting your fill of a little of everything.

Can’t go wrong with anything you order off the menu. I think I had the best coleslaw I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not a coleslaw fan either, so that tells you something. We were visiting our friend and this is the first place she took us to right after we landed. We went on a Saturday, which is definitely a peak day. There was a line out the door, which I heard is normal for a Saturday. By the time we got to the front of the line, a lot of the good sides were sold out. I had 4 oz of brisket and coleslaw. My friends ordered turkey/brisket sandwiches and potato salads. There food looked just as good as mine. Everyone tried each other’s food and we all washed it down with some sweet tea! It was the best meal we had the Entire time we were there. We liked it so much that we had to stop again right on our way to the airport. It was a Tuesday, so there wasn’t much of a line, but the guy that took our order remembered us. I liked that. So this time we ordered more sides… Such as the Mac n cheese(so good!) I really like that this place closes once there out of food. The little town it’s in(Spring?) is also a great place to walk around or in our case, to walk off your food. Tons of cool shops. Definitely a must have if you’re in the area!

I went to Corkscrew’s new brick and mortar restaurant in Old Town Spring. It was on last Saturday and it took me about 10 minutes to find a place to park about two blocks away. Walking up at 11:15 a.m. The line was outside on the porch so I went to the back. The line moved with both cashiers taking orders inside but it still took me about 50 minutes to get to order. That’s a long time but fortunately it was all under their covered porch. I took advantage of their free wifi by using the passcode that was written on the chalkboard. I noticed that on Saturdays only they offer whole chickens for $ 8 and giant beef ribs for $ 22 each. Since I could only get my favorite meat(chicken) in a whole bird I decided on their sliced brisket sandwich for $ 8.75 and then beans and potato salad as sides that cost $ 2 each. I waited less than 10 minutes for the food to come out(see pic). This restaurant has indoor and outdoor covered seating. That day I chose to stay indoors even though the weather was nice outside. I tried the beans first and liked them by grading them a 3.5. They had good flavor. The mustard based potato salad was very cool like I like it. Even though it was slightly dry to me I still gave it a 4. My preference for a more creamy potato salad maybe different than yours. This was very good potato salad. The sandwich was large and also very good. I asked for moist meat and that’s what I got. The meat was delicious and I gave the sandwich a 4.5. If I ordered another brisket sandwich here I would go lean next time just to see the difference. I was stuffed when I left and felt that I had a very good meal. When I come back I would like to try one of those $ 22 beef ribs but I believe they are only offered on Saturdays. The cashier told me that their slowest days are Tuesday and Wednesday’s. I liked my visit however I am not sure I would stand in another line for 50 minutes to eat here.

I heard some good things coming from Houston and the bbq world about this place so i figured I would delay my trip home a few hours and check it out. 1st tip you can grab a number and go back to the car without standing in line. I didn’t know about this and had to wait a little longer but no biggie. I ordered a massive amount of BBQ as I always do. Got to give a far review of everything. Where to start. I will start with the sausage which is their own recipe though it is not made in house. I enjoyed this sausage more than most 5 out 5. Next up the brisket. Good flavor, really good smoke ring, good smoke taste. I did miss the salt and pepper taste I was hoping for as they obv put more into their rub than those around Austin. Overall I go 4 out 5 on the brisket. The ribs are up next. I think the ribs were cooked perfectly but lacked any really flavor. Needed sauce which should never be the issue. 3 out 5 on the ribs. Sides. I was not a fan of the potato salad but did enjoy the baked beans. Lets say 3⁄5 there as well. The atmosphere 4.5 out of 5. The overall friendliness of the staff 5⁄5. This place looks to have a strong future in front of it. Though I don’t think it cracks my top 5 in Texas it is definitely worth a try. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again but if I am in the area around opening time I know where I would probably end up.

Made a special trip up from Houston to try the BBQ. Out of this world. The moist brisket is the best I have had. We went on a Saturday. Line wrapped around the building. No where to park. Grass area was very muddy. It was cold inside because people were standing with the doors open. So all that said, it’s not a relaxing atmosphere but we would do it all again.

Y’all better get here early because they’re open until everything is sold out. I came around 1p and their chicken and sausage links were sold out. I suppose that just means I’ll have to make another trip here! Get their moist brisket! It just melts in your mouth. Pulled pork is also pretty great and has distinct flavors.

I don’t know what I can say about Corkscrew that hasn’t already been said. It does live up to the hype and is truly my new, favorite barbecue joint. I got there 15 minutes before 11 and was #18 in line, but was pleasantly surprised as to how quickly it moved once they opened the doors. The smells were intoxicating and tease you while standing there. They have menus scattered around for you to look at while waiting and a large chalk board to notify you on which or if any items have been sold out yet. My girlfriend and I ordered 4oz of brisket, 4oz of turkey breast, a pint of mac & cheese and one cherry cobbler. * The(moist) brisket was absolutely incredible. I’ve never had a more tender and perfectly cooked piece of brisket, ever. The marbling was not chewy or gross but was packed full of flavor and was exceptional. The meat itself fell apart in my mouth and even looked beautiful. * The turkey was just as tender and juicy and smokey. No dry, flavorless meat here. Also as opposed to 4 strips of brisket, there were two hefty pieces of turkey, so they were nice big slices. Add some bbq sauce for a flavor overload. * The mac & cheese and cobbler were no different. Both were exceptional and stand way above their competition at other restaurants, if you can believe that. The cobbler crust was enough for me to rave over for a few minutes. Overall, Corkscrew is incredible and I will be going back very often. As I jokingly told my girlfriend, «If Jesus at BBQ, this is the only place he would go.»

After seeing multiple friends post photos of this place I had to check it out. I just now realized most of my reviews are story form, so I apologize if you have read others and think I’m a boring writer. That being said. Came in and loved the feel of the place. There was a buzz in the restaurant. Just had good vibes. I’m not too terribly find of their menu. It’s sandwiched or by the pound. So if you want a two or three meat plate, they have some weird calculation they use to make it work. I’d prefer to have a three meat plate and see the price than do math as I order. So half star minus there from me. The brisket was tender and juicy. The ribs were decadent and tender. Full of flavor. The pulled pork was off the reservation good. But the sausage was very lacking for me(half star deduction). Would prefer to never have it again. But the sauce, this was the star of the meal. Just the right amount of sweet and spice. Delicious. The side were good. They had your standard beans but much better than I’ve had most places. The Cole slaw was good but wasn’t just jaw dropping. Now here is the best part. Being an animal lover when I see animals outside in the rain my heart hurts a bit. They had a cat outside that I decided he wanted some brisket. Went outside with my tray and met one of the bussers. Told me the cat was apart of the restaurant, was loved by the staff and in good health. Which made me decide that this place is a keeper. And to give it a 4 star instead of 3. I will be back. I will eat more ribs. And I will overeat and feel miserable all afternoon. Promise.

Consistency and quality. Pitmaster Will Buckman has mastered the craft of delivering brisket of succulent perfection. There may be no better brisket in the greater Houston area that is turned out on a regular basis. They haven’t missed a beat since their relocation to Keith St. in Old Town Spring. More seating outdoors, and indoor seating as well since they now occupy the building that was formerly Hyde’s Café. On a recent trip we picked up «The Works» for the 5 of us in our group. Spectacular brisket as usual, big peppery beef plate rib was perfect as well. Pork spareribs continue to be especially good(and a great value!), and of course, we had to have some of the peach cobbler to take home. Keep your eye out for the next issue of Texas Monthly’s TMBBQ Top 50 in 2017, as they will undoubtedly be featured very high in the results. Of the 50 or so places I’ve eaten brisket in Texas in 2015, Corkscrew BBQ ranks in the top 3.

While visiting friends in the are, we checked out this place for lunchtime bbq. This place sells out daily so I’d recommend you come early. When we got there around 11:30 on a Thursday, there was a line outside to the parking lot and we waited a good 45 minutes to order. By the time we left around 1, there wasn’t a line and nothing was sold out yet though quantities were running low. There are a lot of tables inside and outside which makes it easy to find a seat and enjoy your meal. They have fountain soda and beer but warning — no Diet Coke. We split the 8 oz beef brisket, 8 oz turkey, side of Mac n cheese, and side of potato salad. The brisket was smoky, tender, moist, everything you can say positively about brisket. The 4⁄5 rating of the place is due to the brisket. The turkey was good but not amazing. The potato salad was a bit too creamy for my taste. Mac n cheese was great — not too cheesy or crispy but well cooked. All in all, a good meal!

Let me preface by saying I went at around 2:00pm on a Tuesday so there was no line and the restaurant was actually kinda empty. Nothing had sold out as far as I know. I ordered a brisket sandwich which cost around $ 9(great value) and ordered a side of beans. The brisket was pretty darn good, nice smoke ring, real tender and a fantastic bark. It was perhaps a bit on the salty side, but may be even a tad dry, but with all the BBQ sauce on it, it didn’t even matter. I didn’t get any chewy or overly fatty pieces. The beans on the side were also really good, they were spicy though(which I like!), which could be an issue for people expecting a more traditional sweet baked bean. Overall 5 stars, the staff was fanatically friendly too, I wish there wasn’t such a long goddamn line so I could come here more often.

Im not sure what all the hype is about here. I would give it 3.5 or 4 stars for the food but the culmination of making folks wait in long lines outside and then constantly run out of items seems like a failed business practice. First the food — Overall good bbq. Is the«liquid gold» as one of the other posters said — NO. It good bbq by Texas standards and certainly have had better — IE, Stanley in Tyler, Mickelthewait in Austin, etc. Lines — Ok maybe they work with a small pit or there order processing is just down right slow. Im not sure if they do this on purpose or this is one of those«thats how we’ve always done it» but its annoying and this alone makes it not worth the trouble. «Sold Out» — I’ve been here twice before — Always out of brisket and something. Also annoying. If it is due to a small pit, thats unfortunate. If it is a marketing ploy — where i would bet my money — have heard many places due this to increase«hype». Another reason I wont bother with this place. If its out of this world BBQ, I would consider waiting in lne for 45 minutes and take chance if them pulling«sorry were sold out» but you get«good» BBQ with the trouble of dealing with the 2 other issues. No thanks — Ill drive to one of the other«good BBQ» joints without the hassle.

Looked forward to finally getting to try corkscrew. Everyone was so nice. Unfortunately my to go order was not correct. I ordered brisket moist and got lean instead. My cherry cobbler was gooey, undercooked apple cobbler with way too much cinnamon. Lesson here — check your order! Will give them another try when I get up there again. Bummed.

It’s not unusual for me to fly my plane to Lockhart, TX just for barbecue. This little gem located locally to me, a 10 minute drive away, is really something else. The moist brisket is so moist it’s like liquid gold when you eat it. We also had the pork ribs which are probably my favorite. Fall off the bone and very delicious! Highly recommend the loaded baked potato which is really good for 2 – 3 people, or a gigantic meal for one person with leftovers! Corkscrew BBQ did good. Just beware that the lines can be very long, with a wait in excess of 20 minutes. They have an online pre-order page apparently, but we have not tried that yet. Can’t wait to go back for the beef ribs on the weekend.

Finally visited to see what the hype is about and I feel like this place is over hyped. Ordered the moist brisket, spicy sausage, half rack of pork ribs and mac and cheese. Everything was good except the mac and cheese. It was oddly dry(although it didn’t look like it) and tasteless. And unlike everyone else, the brisket was not my favorite. Yes it was moist and tender but it lacked flavor and was way too fatty, meat was swimming in fat. Instead, my favorite was the ribs. It was tender, flavorful, fall off the bone and not just bones. Like I said, food was good, but personally, I wouldn’t wait in line for it.

Legit the BEST brisket I’ve ever had. I’m from Chicago and I don’t know of many bbq spots there. I think Famous Dave’s is the extent of my bbq knowledge. Which they have good beef brisket in my opinion BUT this was wayyyyy better! My went the $ 9 option for the beef brisket. I think that might be a half pound. It was fresh and delicious. The bbq sauce here is so good! I’m not even huge fan of the bbq sauce and I wish I could bottle it up and bring it home with me. I also went the serving of Mac and cheese. Yum!!! There is not one bad thing I could say about this place. We arrived at about 11:15 on a Saturday and placed out order and got out food by 12:50 I believe. If you decide on a visit make sure to arrive early as they do sell out. The décor is absolutely adorable!!! I love the pink lights. The ceiling is super country chic with the pallets and the mason jar lights. I’d love to have that one day it was that cute. Perk: they offered FREE beer!!! I’ve never in my life been anywhere that had free beer! That’s winning right off the bat. Keep it up Corkscrew!!!

This place has some seriously AWESOME food. My wife and I arrived near 2 on a weekday and the line wasn’t too bad, but they were pretty much running out of, or had already ran out of, things to eat. We managed to get the spicy links, brisket, and the last of the pulled pork with some cole slaw and beans on the side. Now my wife is from Tucson so she has never really had good BBQ. When she took her first bites she was floored. I am from Spring and have traveled a bunch through BBQ country and the food was on par with most anything I had while traveling. The food has wonderful flavor for a great price. I also really enjoyed the outdoor seating. If you want some great BBQ, look no further. Just keep in mind that food availability will be an issue if you get there late.

Among the best brisket I’ve had in my life; top 5 for sure. I’m a native Texan and I’ve been to every county in the state at least once, so yeah I’ve consumed some brisket. This is exactly what brisket should be: excellent smoke ring, crust is crispy and tangy, the fat melts in your mouth, no need for sauce. The pork is pretty delicious as well. The sides, sauce, and sausages are good but not the same 5 star quality as the brisket. Brisket is absolutely 5 stars, everything else is solidly in the 4 star range. If you’re not a huge fan of the sides, no big deal you should be there for the brisket and, to a slightly lesser extent, the pork. If you don’t like the brisket the problem is with you, not the brisket, I recommend eating organic sprouts and tofu with your drum circle and leaving this for the rest of us. Basically the same as the last review from their old location.

Same great BBQ with a ton of additional seating. The service has always been great but it’s even greaterer :) There are 2 people taking orders and the line still seemed to move kind of slowly. But — food came out super quick after ordering. I’m sure they know where the bottleneck is if there is one. They had someone outside meticulously bussing and cleaning the picnic tables, checking on how things were. It’s just great. As for the food — I love the brisket and links. I’ve never had the turkey. I almost always get the chopped brisket, but also like the sliced.

Folks, this is authentic Texas BBQ at its finest! Whether you get the brisket, or the ribs, or pulled pork, you will enjoy it here. I would consider Corkscrew to be one of the top 5 in the State and in the top 2 of Houston. The brisket is moist and has a nice bark around it – excellent! No sauce needed here — just a smoky awesomeness to the meat. The pulled pork is fantastic as well. I know, you come here for the BBQ, but please do get the potato salad. Its off the charts awesome. They have TWO pits now and there is A/C and awesome places to sit inside as well as outside. Come support a local business that is VERY worthy of your money. Did I mention that they are very affordable as well? Come out, enjoy and enjoy some authentic Texas BBQ :)
